I Am Sick Of My Is"250"

Recommended Posts

I really hate the "250" number on the back of the car. It makes the car sound so cheap. That 2 really really bugs me. It reminds of the entry level ES250 from WAY back in the day. The fact that the IS is entry level doesn't bother me. The NUMBER bothers me it just sounds so low like a two series car. UGH!

So finally I have promised myself I will change it.

I plan to buy an IS300 badge from Lextasy and put it on. Any other badge ideas? I was thinking about taking off the 250 and moving the IS to the 5 and 0 spot but that would get too complicated.

HOW DO I REMOVE THE "250" FROM MY CAR?

You're going to change the model badge for your car because you're emberassed because it has a "2" and its going to make people think you have a cheap car?

Self esteem much?

Seriously, if you care that much about what other people think about you and what you drive (news flash...people don't care and if they do...why should you care what they think?) you should work on that.

The 250 is because it has a 2.5l engine. What about the 525i? or the 325i? or the C240 owners, should they be emberassed too?

Changing the model name on a car to a higher model and pretending thats what you have is pathetic. Why don't you stick an AMG badge on it too while you're at it.

Why do you hate the 2? Because it feels and sounds cheap. Sounds cheap to who?

Let me ask you a question. Do you like your IS250? If you do, then drive it and consider leaving the 2 on as an exercise in caring more that you drive a car you enjoy driving than what people may or may not think about you because of which numbers are displayed on the trunklid of the car.

The IS300's model font was different, it won't match the emblems on your car and removing the 2 and replacing it with something else is going to have the reverse effect, people who know cars are going to see that your badge doesn't match your car and they're going to laugh at you. I laugh at people when I see that.

YOU ************!!!!

That's not what I'm saying. ****! I don't care if it says IS 100 I JUST HATE THE 2!

Now I suggest you tell me how to take it off instead making dumb suggestions. AMG is for Mercedes DUH!

So you think putting a 300 instead of 250 is not the same as putting a fake AMG/M/RS/R-Type/F badge?

Back on topic: Use a hair dryer to warm up the glue behind the numbers, then use a fishing line or dental floss to slowsly cut through the glue. Keep doing this process from each side of the number unitl it finally comes loose and falls off. Afterwards treat the spot with Goo-Off or something similar to get rid of the sticky mess.

Hmm...trying to figure out what is a 12 letter word that would get censored by the board...oh, I get it. Rude, man...

Usually taking off badges is easier when it is warm. If you live in the tundra, I would wait until the thaw.

Assuming the badges use a doublesided foam tape like most manufacturers use, I have removed BMW badges using a hairdryer to warm it up to get the stickem soft, and then use dental floss to saw the badge off there. Afterwards, hair dryer and fingers/fingernails to get the residue off followed by a thorough cleaning and waxing.

Good luck...deep breath...show some love for the "2s" in the world.:pirate:

EDIT: Darnit IS250Rookie! Apparently you type faster than I do! :cries:

I'd moderate him for that but it makes him look like such a punk I'm going to leave it ;)

Ok ok I just got SUPER mad that judged me like that. Like I said I don't care if it says IS100 I just hate the 2. I'm not trying to put a higher number so people will think better of me. I don't care about that ****.

Ok so I might just remove the 250 and put the IS in the 5 and 0 spot.

Are you sure the goo stuff won't hurt the paint?

I had no idea that the 250 was for 2.5 liter

Maybe it's in my head. You guys don't think 250 is an ICK number?

hahaha!

RX300 = 3.0l

RX330 = 3.3l

RX350 = 3.5l

RX400h = 3.3l (HA! got you there: equivalent to a 4.0l V8 in performance)

Give that some thought when you see a Mercedes with a "600" on it.

I think that all of the hate and discrimination against "250" is all you dude!

BillyShaft - proud supporter of equal rights and respect for "250"

So--you just don't like the number "2"? Or, you just don't like the looks of the "2" on the Lexus?

What if you found a "2" from another car, in another font, and replaced the Lexus "2"? Or what if you found the letters "T," "W" and "O", so you would have "IS TWO50"? Or better yet, "IS TWO FIFTY" (kind like the Ford Five Hudred)?

Maybe just put a "T" after the IS 250 so you can have a turbo charged IS 250.... :rolleyes:

I thought about this--a "Turbo" badge would be awesome. I'm thinking the late '80s Saab style "Turbo" badge. Trouble is, there's still the "2".
