Chad Posted June 3, 2005 Share Posted June 3, 2005 Hello folks, My 2004 RX330 is coming up on a year and the service department wants $405 bucks for it's 15k year service. I'm trying to figure out what they do besides the oil change and fluid check. Is the service worth the money? By comparison, an oil change is $148. Thanks for your comments. LexKid630 Posted June 3, 2005 Share Posted June 3, 2005 with only 15k miles, there isn't anything wrong with the car... all they'll do is change the oil and "glance" at the fluids (of course the fluids will be fine). It's not a big deal, yet i would have them do it anyway. just to keep a record..That's what i did. I recently brought my 330 in for the 15k service. On the phone they said "in the mid 500's". That didn't sound right, so I checked the book. When I went in for my appoinmtnet, I brought the manufacturer's book with me and asked what it would cost to do what is recommended. They wrote it up at $299. When i picked up the car it was only $202. They gave me a nice 2005 as a loaner, but forgot to wash my vehicle. (both times I have been to this dealership) While it was in, I asked them to check out the sunroof because of a loud noise when it opens. It was to be lubricated. When I picked it up there were about 15 drops of oil hanging off the sunroof itself (the part that slides) and greasy fingerprints in 5 places on the ceiling. This is the second dealer I have tried for service and have been less than satisfied. Is this the norm for Lexus service departments? (playing games with prices, poor service, lies, mistakes) It's getting to the point now where i'll have to go 50+ miles to try the next available Lexus service department, and it's likely to mean my next vehicle won't be a Lexus. Lexus service could learn a lot from their regular (non luxury) division. I have several Toyotas, have used 3 dealerships, and have never had an ounce of trouble with regular Toyota.(or Honda or Nissan for that matter) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
natsueo Posted June 14, 2005 Share Posted June 14, 2005 I've brought my 05 rx330 to the two dealerships in the Sacramento, CA area (Lexus of Roseville and Lexus of Sacramento). I had my 5K service and received great service. I have brought the Lexus in to the Sacramento dealership just to get it washed. Always great service and clean car. Rx330driver Posted June 14, 2005 Share Posted June 14, 2005 I just went in for a 30K mile service which is suppose to be a major service. The guy said its a base price of $575 but the sad part is that all four tires need to be changed, costing hella money. On top of that, i got a call from the service department saying that my front brake pads need to be replaced for 300 something. You will be reamed out your rear end and your wallet will be emptied. Go to a tire store or deal with an on-line tire specialist like tirerack.com. But before you buy, spend some time researching tires. There are a number of us on this forum who will be glad to help you with tire decisions. We can save you a lot of money and you'll have far better tires than what your dealership will sell you to boot. I hope you didn't agree to purchase new tires from that dealership.
