Barkat:

Thanks for the source.

Tirerack is rating the tire a little higher, and because it's using Silica I have to say it will repel water and decrease your stopping distance. Yes I know it's a fairly new compound but I'm going to keep it up. I'll remove it if more negative comments are put against the tire.

You don't have to put the tire on your car. They're just recommendations.

I've had Bridgestone Turanza LS-V tires on my '93 LS for over a year now. I really like them. VERY good in the wet. And surprisingly good in the snow. [relatively speaking - relative to the fact that the LS is no Subaru]

I would buy them again.

Craig!! :)

For the LS, I would add:

- Falken Ziex ZE-512

- Toyo Proxes TPT

- Yokohama Avid H4S & V4S (depending on the speed rating you want / need)

- Goodyears new 'Assurance' line which are either the Comfortreads OR Triple Treads. (the GY Triple Treads trump the Michelin Hydroedge because of the ice traction they are capable of) B)

i went to sears and another tire shop and they say it was not good to put the hydroedge on because it is not rated high enough. they told me i need an h or v rated. sears will not put them on because of the rating <_<

that sounds like a shaddy shop, any reputable tire place will put what you tell them on, there is nothing that says lexus needs a v rated tire. it would make your ride worse in fact. a nice h rated tire will suit it well

I also now am running Falken ZX 512's on Stock Wheels.

Ride almost as good as my prior Michelin MXV4 at half the cost, handle better (sidewall seems stiffer, not so much rollover), good hydroplaning resistance here in hurricane-swept Florida

Here is another vote for the Bridgestone Turanza LS-V's. Good all around tire, decent in the rain, corners fairly well, OK in the snow and seem to be wearing very well.

Tires are all about compromise.

Most shops will not put lower than spec'd speed rated tires on a car, if they blow they can be held liable.

I have the Avid V4S on my 1996 LS400 and they are great. they are also inexpensive from tirerack.com around $78/tire.

I went from Michelin Energy MXV4 to Michelin HydroEdge on our Volvo S90 (rear wheel drive). We don't drive agressively and I don't have any complaints about the HydroEdge performance in Summer or with rain. I did notice that they are much firmer and that does impact ride, I guess you have to give up sopmething for an 80,000 mile tire. By the way, we have almost 30,000 miles on the HydroEdge and at the current wear rate (which I measure each time I rotate the tires) I expect they will beat the 80,000 mile estimate.
