  2. We have a 2005 ES330 with 142K on the clock. I replaced the strut assemblies with aftermarket parts and we no longer have a smooth, silent ride. I am willing to bite the bullet and do what might be needed to restore it to Lexus like ride and handling. It's smooth at highway speeds, but noisy and not smooth at slow speeds, especially on uneven surfaces. Any suggestions for shocks/struts that will improve the situation would be appreciated.
  3. Thanks to everyone on the suggestions for trunk lid issues; saved me many dollars hours of frustration.
  4. Another newbie. Joins May 24th, posts for help. Never comes back, never updates or says thanks.
  5. 1997 LS400 steering wheel not moving back and forward but moves up and down? Any solution?
  6. Yes, thank you. Bought it for 1k last week because the guy didn't want to diagnose the problem. 187k miles interior great condition outside cosmetic ok/good condition. Fix cost me 20 dollars for a harbor freight tool set and a willingness to learn. Overall I figure it was a good deal. Now I have a beautiful piece of engineering mastery(1mz) and a ride that does fake wood grain tastefully haha. My friend has an RX also and we might start one of those riding clubs named soccer mom squad (neither of us moms, or women) out of irony

  8. The radio fixed itself! I went back to the Lexus dealer to return the map data card. It wasn't returnable, but the parts guy connected me with the tech advisor, the person that helps you with all the settings on the car. He told me he was not a technician, but would try to help verify the problem. We went to the car and plugged in the SD card. When I turned the car on there was no boot sequence, but a message appeared "Checking for map info," which I hadn't seen before. It then went blank. After a couple of minutes, we turned the car off. He said to get it checked out by a tech for $237 or go to a nearby non dealer Toyota/Lexus shop. I then drove 10 minutes to get lunch. I then drove another 15 minutes to do some shopping. When I started the car next, the system booted and the new map data was there. Furthermore, all of my radio settings and saved addresses were still there, even though I had disconnected the battery for half an hour when I first discovered the problem. The lessoned learned was don't freak out if it first doesn't boot right away after a map update, just be really patient. This will be my last map update. __________________ Tom Scott San Diego 2016 ES 300H Eminent Pearl White. All of the bells and whistles except ML sound system

  11. My 2008 SC 430 has a bad windshield washer switch. The local Toyota dealer quoted me $600.00 to replace it which sounds excessive to me. Anyone ever done this or had it done? Thanks
  12. Your choice is pure Lexus, Anyone can buy aftermarket, But to have the real thing is Superb !!!
  13. I just got a used 2016 RX250 too (46k miles). I have a slight noise when going over very minor imperfections on asphalt roads. On concrete roads I don't hear this noise from the front of the vehicle. I had a similar but louder noise (thumping) on my Rav4 and it turned out to be a sway bar needed replace on the passenger side. My mechanic (not lexus dealer) lubricated the driver side sway bar since he felt it didn't need replaced. Noise is no longer heard anymore! I have a feeling this "could" be what's causing this noise on my new-to-me RX350. Its so minor I'm not really worried about it right now. DMCE - Did you get yours looked at and what was the cause/solution?
  14. Brakes hitting back the pedal in a skipping manner.
  15. Thanks @mb1 and @trakker!! This old thread was just what i needed to not give up on the power door feature on my 2005 RX with 220K miles. Was exactly the E clip issue which kept the door from working or opening more than a foot. Took about an hour and $2 for the clip. It was a 3/8 E clip for me but i mostly went off the soda can sizing. 馃槈. Well done!
  16. Hey folks! I'm trying to find the parts I need to make the 13 350 have the tap turn function and the high brake light to flash on initial press. Thanks for any help!
  17. Greetings from a new 2008 Lexus LS 460 owner. Huge thanks to this website for helping me get a couple of critical things fixed namely the control, arms and rearview mirror whistle on the passenger door side. My model has 65,000 miles, and the owner sold it because the stealership wanted excessive amounts to service the car. So they just gave up on it. There are a couple of problems that I need to resolve in the near term and wondered if I could get some advice here. The dreaded valley plate appears to be leaking very slightly. However, after watching all of the YouTube videos on the reseal job, it looks like it's a really involved and complicated process and I am wondering if anybody has tried any radiator stop leak on it? I know this is probably has some people cringing and wanting to throw me off the forum for such a suggestion, however, the thought of pulling the Plenum and the associated equipment off is really imposing. Secondly there is a minor problem with the radio/HVAC control system. Intermittently the radio controls will not work except for the controls on the steering column. In addition, the HVAC temp control always defaults to 75掳 degrees and does not hold its prior setting. Any members know if there is a reset available for the HVAC and radio? Thank you again to this group for all of the awesome information available for our cars.
  18. When our battery is getting weak, an illuminated notice appears on the dash, indicating that we must shift into park before shutting off the vehicle (or something to that effect). When I see that, I replace the battery. I've never had to jump it, but I believe the procedure for doing so is in the manual.

  21. Well my friend I see this is old so I'm sure you have been educated by now but I just have to ask: how did it feel to be 99.999% sure about something, with all the confidence you could muster proclaim to know something you actually just assumed. That's what happens when you assume. You were 99.999% sure you were correct and ended up 100% wrong smh lmao
  22. Hello, Carl. Have you spoken with a Lexus service advisor or customer service representative? 1 (800) 255-3987
  23. Nothing stupid in asking questions. Lexus cars have great audio systems and the better the source quality the more enjoyment listening to music. DBPoweramp (available for both IOS and Windows) can convert lossless audio files (from audio CD鈥檚 or download) to M4A (MP4) files in 512kbps 48kHz, which is the highest audio quality possible from the DVD player in our CT. When using USB pin only up to 16Gb we have constant fall-out of music and when the DVD player give us around 18 hours of music in sound quality not sound wise below WAV (CD audio discs) but better than 320kbps from MP3 the DVD player is what we use when driving visiting family. Line-in from a lossless player can transfer even highest level of audio, but few can hear that quality difference when passed 40 years of age (I cannot any-more) and while driving noise from tyres, wind etc. will not allow you to have the concert hall experience anyway.
