  1. There is no alternator in a PHEV. It is a hybrid, where you can charge the extra large high voltage battery home via a plug-in. Hybrid cars have no alternator. Like I mentioned before - the 12V battery starts the computer that then power up the big battery. The car can run on the big battery till there is too little power left in that and then the vary ordinary engine running on gasoline starts to charge the battery and power the wheels. Call your Lexus where you bought the car and tell them to help. A new car should have some service free of charge.
  2. A 3 month old car is warranted. Suppose you mean NX and not Nh. 12V battery powers up the computer that power up the high voltage battery that start everything else. 12V battery is rather tiny and if car stand still a long time, the battery lose power. The little CT we have is a 2017 model and 12V battery is still just fine. Charge the 12V battery and it should start everything else again. But do mention it to the dealer as a brand new car should have a brand new battery that keeps charge well.
  3. If the answer you posted now is the right one, you did help. The answer you gave 20 hours ago was not helpful, not friendly and hope you have learned how to help instead of telling to use the manual, which is extremely bad as it is originally written in Japanese, translated to Chinese (big market) and from there to other languages with Google translate, which is often making a mess out of things. Hope you understand that I am not speaking down to you, only asking you kindly to speak up to and help other users of the forum.
  4. Read the instructions, follow them are certainly complicated. In the CT (2017 with ML audio, sunroof, leather (synthetic) and all the extras available here) we have it is far simpler: Car is not turned on - take out the old microSD-card - insert the new microSD-card - turn on the car. Updated navigations system (2021) functions after about 20 minutes with car turned on. Have not updated since as the navigations system in Lexus is not worth using; often tells you to follow longer roads and sometimes against one way streets. Any smartphone has better navigations system and with completely free updates except for handing info about where you are while using the navigation over to Google. Most people do that anyway. Apple system is not better, also steal all the info available whenever using your phone.
  5. Extreme price. Here we can buy map updates on micro-SD-cards around 40€. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/355554589554?itmmeta=01HVE4M16HGXB9T4ZGXYABJCNN&hash=item52c8b47b72:g:ovEAAOSwolBkxm54&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8FZyOZPfnbsqRjz4h%2F3PjSUyHW5p6IWCYSuHa5z62vUCx5ddwq3RblF7o0r13Wt19Ct4dh4yR%2BKthmI9Rpj%2Bo4JuGqDvisyly6quAQigIlcOqtRUSSGFIsjMtCWsWw9IHiqwkwVXmV%2F2Gr6vyvIQcsDMv4r%2BBIs1i75ENXPYTjkZnqLyOL46kIwLTZYhZMGidBHk%2BGudXUY425m20yjhymTTLE1IGbgx27OpzdxIaRn8%2Bw4nylwuIJ0U3%2F1nNmQ0Koemw%2FiuHv7BMemzjNvp%2BjZG5LaSSw0YxksDwWNHrwn%2FMZQZXxCd5DpqGDjaVAXuYw%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR7CT0MTbYw
  6. 93 is fine. Here we have 95 and 98.
  7. I am not counting gallons and miles, but whoever say that Lexus and Toyota are optimistic in their ads when telling that fuel economy is excellent. Most other companies are doing likewise. The little CT we have was adverticed with a fantastic fuel economy. 3.8L/100km Reality after several years of refilling the tank is quite a lot different 6.7L/100km Lexus service personnel say it is normal. Nothing wrong with the car, hybrid battery is controlled yearly. Compared to the VW Golf 2.0tdi DSG it is not as expected cheaper to drive as the diesel was using 5L/100km and diesel is cheaper. Same driver – same driving style – same area. I think that the extra battery in the car is not getting better fuel economy out of the car, just making the car consumes tyres a bit more than if the extra (hybrid) battery was not in it.
  8. If latest info from BMW, Honda, Mercedes, Toyota (alphabetically mentioned) are correct I may still have a chance to get a hydrogen car, combustion or fuel cell, as long as I do not have to be in a battery powered car it is fine with me. Toyota will change automotive forever: its hydrogen combustion engine will retire EVs: by La Grada - 02/26/2024 14:00 Mercedes has realized the fraud of EVs. That is why they are once again betting on combustion cars Pininfarina Enigma GT debuts at Geneva Motor Show with hydrogen powered V6 Honda Reveals 2025 Honda CR-V e:FCEV BMW and Mercedes are in talk about finding a way to get hydrogen rolled out in the EU and if they can get Honda, KIA and Toyota on the wagon there may be money enough to get governments interested in helping and it could possibly happen. Supposedly Honda would want to get markedshare and they have 1 car ready and 1 more is to be ready for sale in 2027 so they could be interested in participating and Toyota was very slow to start EV cars for reasons they have not informed, but selling cars that have a limited possible lifespan was not what Toyota has been doing so far. I know I shall not believe all I read - and I do not - but Mercedes has publicly informed that they will continue gasoline car production after 2030 and their market-share immediately went 6% up.
  9. If you really want to know what is not to like about it: I would like a car that drives without polluting. I do not at all mind if it is powered with a battery as long as it is not made in a factory in China using slaves and where the power to the factory come from burning coal. Of course it should not be a battery that would make the car having a much limited range when temperature get down to zero, or some days below that. It would also be needed that the materials to make the battery can be obtained without destroying the planet searching for the materials. Not to forget that there got to be so much of these materials that there is enough to make batteries enough to convert all cars to electric cars. The materials we use to make batteries now are not available in such quantities and the batteries we have now have very limited time where they are holding charge and when no longer really great very expensive to get the materials the batteries are made of out for reuse. That the batteries should be able to keep the power without losing too much when not used a couple of days just like a gasoline car is also useful. Of course it would not be funny if driving through Europe to visit family I would not be able to charge the battery more or less at same speed as filling gasoline on the one I have now. If I am asking too much maybe a battery powered car is not for me. Or anybody else that would like to leave the planet in as good a condition as we received it so our children will not have to repair all the damages we have made to the planet while we were searching for easy found solutions that are actually not solutions. EV cars, the way they are made now, are not polluting less – yes they are – in the streets of my town, but making the batteries, transporting them, charging them with the very “in no way at all” green power where we live actually make EV cars more polluting than driving a well kept little gasoline car. I sure wish that we could find a material that could make batteries last a long time and not just the 6 – 12 years with steadily losing ability to keep charge. It would also be nice if the battery was light and not hard on the tyres that deteriorate more the heavier the car is. If the new batteries were so light that they could be used in air-planes that would really help reduce pollution as the private cars we talk so much about actually are not a major polluter. Why can politicians not understand that even with all they do now for the environment pollution is not going down but increasing? EV cars the way they are now - are for people not thinking about environment: 60% of the electricity in Spain is made from non-renewable s coal, oil, gas; 35% from nuclear; only 5% from renewable sources; just saw that in the electricity bill today. That the 35% from nuclear are not damaging the climate now could put that figure up to 40%. Still 60% of the energy put in electric cars is dirty and utterly polluting. Worldwide numbers are not even that good. This explain why charging an electric car is not really doing any good for the environment. And when the factories making the batteries to electric cars are not informing from where the energy that is used in the factories come from: mean it could be quite a good deal not green, more grey or even black. Considering above-mentioned numbers driving electric cars pollute between 15 and 60% more than if we continued to use the gasoline cars we are driving in now. Would not need new cars with new batteries, just new oil in the engines now and then. https://www.asoc.org/learn/antarctic-ice-and-rising-sea-levels/ But as it maybe already too late to change the way climate is going now, we can just continue the headless way we are used to: https://abcnews.go.com/International/late-prevent-significant-melting-west-antarctic-ice-shelf/story?id=104144755

  11. There should not be any need for transporting hydrogen long distance as all needed to make it is water and electricity. Mid size plants could supply a gas station with 2 or 3 filling points. A favourable place to make hydrogen would be near coasts where water is abundant and electricity could be made from waves and tide. Would like a Corolla sized hydrogen car, here parking places on streets are made in Fiat 500 size. Do not expect Lexus cars are still made when hydrogen will be available. Cheaper to have only one brand. Nissan - Infinity. Honda - Acura
  12. And I thought it was letting out droplets while driving. Do you know how much water is stored before it must be let out? Was it like driving an electric car, where charging is as fast as filling a gasoline car instead of needing it charging for hours? And more comfortable than the RX? A limousine should be nicer to drive than a SUV.
  13. That could be one of the reasons they have postponed to 2026. The more power you want an engine to deliver the more fuel it will need and for hydrogen that will mean more water. Toyota is refining both combustion and fuel cell and only the combustion is sounding like a race car. Do not think the Mirai is pouring out much water when driving https://www.toyota.com/mirai/ but only people living in California have filling stations so it would be worth driving one. No filling stations no hydrogen cars. Still think that even stupid politicians sooner or later will find out why all the electric cars they are pressing people to buy are not helping getting pollution down when the cars are charged with electricity from more than 50% not green power and the power used to make the batteries is many places coming from coal. Sure the electric cars do pollute so much where they drive, but making them just moved the pollution to another place and pollution need no visa to move. Here we had 48 degrees Celsius for a first time on the south side of the island; yes weather is getting more extreme everywhere.
