    • Hello all, I recently bought a 2000 LS400 that came with the factory telephone in the center console. The phone cradle is not screwed into anything. I see the 4 holes where the screws are supposed to go into, and I have the screws (or at least 3 of them), but when I try !Removed! the cradle in, the screws don’t screw into anything. Is there a part that I’m missing? Maybe some kind of backing plate? I can’t seem to figure out how to get into the cavity behind the screw holes either. I’ve tried looking at all the diagrams I could find, and used Google to the best of my ability, but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.
    • Go with 2008-2012 highlander struts. It'll give you some tire room and you wont have to get wheel spacers or new wheel right away. Plus it like 1.75 inches of lift, dont go over 2.5" without making subframe spacers because of cv angles
    • Thanks for all your replies.  I have replaced capacitors but that doesn't really mean much as I have a friend who is working on his 4th ECU.  I do have a spare with new capacitors but haven't had time to put it in.  And don't get me started on professional mechanics.  My Lexus dealer replaced nearly the entire back suspension and ruptured the universal boot chasing a vibration which $3000 later, was actually just a bent rim.  And then he had the nerve to claim he didn't rupture the boot.  Well there wasn't grease all over the rear wheel well when I gave you the car.  That's the last time this car has seen a "professional" mechanic and the last time it ever will.
    • Following was an MTBF question for Gemini (Bard) AI: No, car companies typically don't release specific MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) times for their electronic systems to the public. There are a few reasons for this: Proprietary Information: MTBF data can be considered commercially sensitive information. Releasing it could give competitors an advantage in understanding the reliability of their own systems. Complexity: Modern cars are crammed with electronics, and MTBF can vary greatly depending on the specific system and how it's used. A simple system like a window switch might have a very high MTBF, while a complex system like the engine control unit might have a lower one. Operating Conditions: MTBF is heavily influenced by how a car is driven and maintained. A car that is primarily driven on rough roads or in extreme temperatures will likely experience more electronic failures than one driven in ideal conditions. However, car manufacturers do heavily focus on reliability during the design and development process. They use extensive testing and quality control measures to ensure their electronic systems meet their own internal reliability targets. Here are some alternatives to finding public MTBF data: Reliability Reports: Consumer Reports and other automotive publications track reliability data based on owner surveys. This data can give you a general idea of how reliable a particular car model is likely to be. Warranty Information: The length and terms of a car's warranty can be an indicator of how confident the manufacturer is in the reliability of its electronics. Owner Reviews: Online forums and car review websites can be a good source of anecdotal information about common electronic problems with specific car models. END QUOTE
