amphetamine Posted November 5 Posted November 5 I have a non F sport version and the only upgrades I'd like to do really is get an F sport cluster and tuned engine profile. I have 66k miles. I found one on ebay that fits my year and model with 95k miles reported on the odometer. Is this a hard thing to install? What am I getting myself into? Any responses would be very much appreciated 🙂 This is my first ever Lexus, and first ever car I signed for 2 weeks ago :)))
RX400h Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Quote CoPilot: Here's a brief overview of what you're getting into: F-Sport Instrument Cluster Installation Compatibility Check: Ensure the F-Sport cluster is compatible with your 2016 IS300. Removal of Old Cluster: You'll need to remove the existing instrument cluster. This involves disconnecting the battery, removing screws, and carefully disconnecting the wiring harness. Installation of New Cluster: Install the new F-Sport cluster by connecting the wiring harness and securing it in place. Odometer Correction: Since the cluster you found has a higher mileage, you'll need to reprogram the odometer to match your car's current mileage. This might require professional help or specialized tools. Engine Tuning ECU Upgrade: You can opt for an ECU upgrade tune, which can improve horsepower, torque, and throttle response. Companies like RR Racing offer specific tunes for the IS300. Installation: Installing a tuned ECU usually involves connecting it to your car's OBD2 port and following the instructions provided by the tuner. Testing and Adjustments: After installation, it's important to test the car and make any necessary adjustments to ensure everything is running smoothly. Considerations Professional Help: Both tasks can be complex, especially the odometer correction and ECU tuning. It might be worth consulting with a professional or a trusted mechanic. Tools and Equipment: You'll need specific tools for removing the instrument cluster and possibly reprogramming the ECU. Cost: Consider the cost of the parts, tools, and any professional services you might need. It's definitely a rewarding project, but it does require some technical know-how. If you're comfortable with DIY projects and have the right tools, you might find it a fun challenge! If not, seeking professional help is always a good option.
