  1. The 5 gallon 'reserve' has been noted and discussed on many Gen-5 RX forums and FaceBook groups. πŸ˜’ The tank is shallow and horizontal, it runs along the left side of the chassis. One guy DID run the RX to empty (and refilled from a can to get to a station). We have difficulty running more than 350 miles on our 500h.
  2. Get used to it...a typical amount of refuel ability IS about 12.5 gallons on the 17 gallon tank. Gets talked about a LOT. πŸ€” Personal experience: When filled, the DTE (Distance to empty) says ~ 410 miles. But the last fuel-gauge indicator "bar" on the gauge goes away at ~360 - 370 miles. When we fill at that point, same as you, the car only takes ~12.5 gallons. ++++++++++ Have never read an 'official' technical reason for the big reserve. Some have said that the extra fuel enables the hybrid system to run?
  3. BTW, I noticed that the Automatic Self Park on our RX500h turns the wheel without moving the vehicle. 🀒 Besides the very sloooow operation, that's ANOTHER reason to park it ourselves! πŸ˜‡ ++++++++++++ PS: Check the tightness of the battery terminals on that new battery. If you can twist them without loosening, you could have a poor contact that results in low voltage under high draw.
  4. No experience, however I know that turning the wheel when STATIONARY requires a LOT of amperage. I learned from our old cars with non-assisted steering, always ROLL THE CAR when turning the wheel. πŸ€” Newer cars can suffer damaged PS motors if they are over-taxed...not just Lexus. Another thought: Are you on the original battery? Perhaps it is weak and the steering motor is taxing it, causing a low voltage. An auto parts store could do a LOAD TEST to see if that is a factor. ++++++++++++++ Aside from the increased effort when there is a malfunction, I don't think there is a danger. I'm sure back-up systems are incorporated.
  5. The fuse descriptions are very cryptic, aren't they? If there is no description in the Owners Manual I'd use the spare fuses and try the spares. Go for the biggest one (30A green) first.... Finding the correct page in the OM is a challenge in itself. 🀒
  6. The displayed MPG is dependent on usage. Will probably get better. Our 500h requires 40 - 80 miles before it reaches the typical, normal MPG. (We reset our display MPG each fill-up...old habits die hard.) πŸ˜— Did your dealer sit you down with the engine on/idling while showing you the dash setup and all the 'bells and whistles'? That typically reduces the indicated total. Give the car a couple tanks of fuel before you start worrying.
  7. Did you find the USB-A socket in the center cubby under the dash? Top right under the sliding cover. πŸ˜—
  8. This. Be prepared to Invoke the Lemon Laws in your state...and (nicely) advise the dealer of your intent. Perhaps they will get some help from Lexus Corporate, too.
  9. Oh Yeah, ONE thing I learned was that (as a passenger) I couldn't set many desired characteristics unless the car was stationary. πŸ˜’ Stuff like sensitivity of automatic wiper and headlight controls, and automatic brightness of the instruments and media screen...
  10. We are in the same situation. Soooo many things to learn. We downloaded the service manuals to our iPhone but SEARCHing that file isn't convenient on the phone. Only a little easier on a computer. Might have to resort to sticky notes in the pages of the paper manual... πŸ˜… First thing we did was to change the default suspension and steering settings to FIRM for the Normal mode. Did you get one FOB, or two? We are waiting for our second one..dealer said not to link a second phone to the single FOB, as that has caused issues? I'll post anything interesting in this Topic as I learn them. You do the same.
  11. We can't see to the other side of the pond, of course, ☺️ But the obvious strategy is to find an indie with a LOT of Toyota and Lexus in the service lot. (Google Maps pictures, etc) Then Look at the reviews of that establishment, to make a final determination.
  12. Again, look at the owners manual recommendation...SPECIFICATIONS pg 579, section 8-1. I'm sure that Lexus builds a bit of leeway into the recommendations...A turbo engine might need extra protection due to spooling characteristics. A higher octane suggestion might only be because they expect owners of F-Sport models to drive more 'enthusiastically'.πŸ˜…
  13. Did you ever find the reason? Or, were you successful in finding the ABS fuses? In my experience, an inop or disabled ABS should not affect regular braking in any way. With disc brakes, there is no active 'retraction' device on the pads, just normal flex. I have other ideas as to why your brakes could be dragging, but I'll wait until you respond. 😊
  14. Just acquired a 2023 RX500h F-Sport... Below are the octane requirements (USA ratings). MINIMUM RX350H = 87 octane MINIMUM RX500H = 91 octane
