Need Help With Feeling A Jerk When Sitting At Idle In Drive
denslexusgx470 replied to DocJohn's topic in 03 - 09 Lexus GX470
This is definitely the "clunk" issue, not the tranny, and not the air suspension. Refer to the sticky thread about the clunk and your dealership should be able to assist you on this matter. -
I believe (I haven't read it in detail) it's just a M-sport appearance package. Now I'm really curious how the new GS feels as BMW usually wins these competitions. I remember back in 2010 on the last year of the E60 (5-series) bodystyle, the 5 series won against the new E-class, and whoever it competed against. A sales guy told me that BMW is catering more to the women. They shouldn't. Every brand is made the way they should be. A person looking for comfort won't buy a Ferrari even if they can afford it.

This seems to be a weird thing. The only "window explosions" I normally hear from other vehicles are the trunk windows because of the rear window defroster and having to do with the temperature difference between the heat from the defroster lines to the cold weather on the other side of the window. I would suggest (for CT200H owners) to have your front windows tint so in the event that this happens to you, the glass won't be flying everywhere inside your vehicle. You don't necessarily have to get dark film on it, tint shops offer a very very light tint (its around 75%-80%) that the naked eye can't tell that the window has tint.

2011 Cpo Es350 With Blank Fax History Information
denslexusgx470 replied to Prasant's topic in 07 - 12 Lexus ES350
I'm not sure about the law with car sales in other states too, but here in California (or at least here in my town) they state on the "Warranty/As-Is No Warranty" sticker that it was a rental/loaner. Also with my local Lexus dealer the carfax shows it as "Dealer took title of vehicle while in inventory" and sometimes they state a few services in the report, sometimes not. I would just run the vin with the service advisor, do a thorough check of the vehicle, drive it (as many times as u need, don't let the sales guy boss u around!), and let CPO (if it is a CPO) take care of any problems down the road. Well in your case you already purchased the vehicle but this is just for future reference about my $.02 -
I got mine in the mail but have not had the time to even open the first page lol... Really? Which 5 did they compare it to? Was it GS350 vs 535i or 528i? Before going home tonight and opening my Motor Trend magazine, I want to say that they compared the GS350 with the 535i since the 528i is now a twin turbo 4cyl .

Riding Lights In Ls460
denslexusgx470 replied to KareemA's topic in 07 - 16 Lexus LS460 / LS460L / LS600h
Sounds like you are referring to the Daytime Running Lights (DRL)/High beam. That bulb is a size 9005 and can be bought at any auto supply store or even your local wal-mart. -
I'm pretty sure they would but I don't want to go thru the hassle of fighting for an OEM glass when they're just gonna give me an aftermarket one like they first offered you. Especially that I now need TWO windshield since 2 of my cars have been "scarred" as I call it lol. Anyways I haven't had the chance to test out the new GS. Before the 535 I was pushing for the new GS350 but my mom didn't want our garage to have all Lexus vehicles and no variety. So here's my impression with the 535i. It's definitely a little more powerful than my previous 5. Even though the body is heavier on the new one, the twin turbo and few more horses does help. I noticed though was that the new 5 series doesn't "hug" the road as well as the previous 5. This is going to sound odd but the new 5 feels "comfy" even though all of them come with Run Flats (ugh they're hard as a rock). The suspension feels softer than my previous 5, which probably explains why the previous 5 hugs better. The steering wheel does feel awkward as I didn't get the sport package. I love the bigger screen and they finally put an engine temperature gauge (which was missing in the previous 5)! I love the layout of the speedometer even though they still light up RED :chairshot: The best part I love is the LED Halos over the halogen Halos I used to have. Now I'm really curious about the new GS. Maybe I need to pay my Lexus dealer a visit ^_^

About 4 inches? Oh yeah, that's definitely asking for a replacement! The diameters on my chips are probably 60% the diameter of a penny lol. So it's hard to justify emptying $1700 (plus labor) our of my pocket (times TWO actually, one for the GX, but I didn't even bother to ask for the LS lol) just to have a new OEM windshield installed. Thanks Steve! I've been trying to keep it on low radar as my pops didn't want to spread the word yet. I personally know several people in my town that could be reading this forum when they're bored Lol.It's been 2 months so we're still fairly new with it but we're loving every second of the drive! This is the first time I will say this though, I don't mind sitting in the back seat! LOL. Not only is there generous leg room but I love the reclining back seats (along with the seat heater/cooler) I don't want to be off topic too much, but how did you like the 535i? I love it! It's better than my previous 528i. I have to admit, the backup camera on the BMW is more CLEAR than the camera that Lexus uses. Don't get wrong though, the Lexus camera is decent (as compared to like the G37 I had one day and that backup camera definitely was more "fish eyed") but the BMW has a very clear camera.

I tried doing a quick research about this but didn't find an answer so I'll just post a new topic. I have a question about upgrading your rims to a size bigger than what you currently have. For example, I'm interested in upgrading my 18" LS rim to the OEM 19" LS rim. Upgrading from 235/50-18 18" OEM 9 spoke to the 19" 5 spoke OEM 245/45-19. Aside from looks, does this change the handling/comfort of the vehicle? How about gas mileage? I have found a decent slightly used set of the 19" 5spokes that I've always wanted. I've inquired with my Lexus dealer about tires and I'm thinking of going with Michelin Pilot A/S that they're offering. The dealer will also transfer my TPMS sensors to the 19" rim. Just wanted some feedback about this! I know that I'm going just for looks and ease of cleaning my wheels but I was wondering if there's an effect (according to Physics). Thanks!

What is the most common problem with your car?
denslexusgx470 replied to Steve's topic in The Club Lounge
Problem is, I can't get enough "Lexus". ;) Even with a BMW in the garage, I still want another Lexus! -
Steve, how big was the damage on your glass? I've had a rock hit my GX and chipped it. It's tiny enough that a $45 repair would do the trick but the damage is around the driver's line of sight so it's an eye sore for me especially when the windshield is clean. If there's bugs on my windshield you wouldn't notice it. They gave me an estimate of $1700 for an OEM windshield and this does NOT include labor. :-O Same thing happened to my LS on a recent trip and of course the chip is around the driver's line of sight AGAIN... These windshields are expensive considering how precise they are because of sound insulation along with ease of installing the auto dimming mirror, wiper sensor, etc. That's why I decided to get the "windshield protection insurance" from BMW when I got my 5 series. They mentioned that at the end of lease if there's a chip or crack bigger than a certain size, I would have to replace it myself. With the insurance they sold me though, if there's an "unacceptable damage" at lease return, they will cover it.

Final Answer: How To Add Nav To '01 Rx
denslexusgx470 replied to andremcintosh's topic in Audio / Video / Electronics Forums
I know this is such an old topic but I was wondering if I too could have my NON-NAV RX300 converted. -
Late Congrats on the purchase! Post up a review and some pictures of your newly acquired LS :) I know this might be a little too late but hopefully you don't have the wind noise issue and also (not sure if this applies to the 09s) check if the recall on the valves have been done. If its a CPO then you don't have to worry about it for now ;-)

I just realized that the previous F/S post you had up was removed from this forum. I will close this topic as per to the Lexus Owners Club rules and not warn you at this time because of the removal of the previous post which had the same statement as stated above but original poster wasn't able to read the reason of the removal of his previous F/S post. At any given time, any Moderator or Administrator of LOC can reset your post count if you make senseless or short postings/replies in other topics around the forum just to bypass the Buy/Sell rules.

Thanks for the headups Paul. Was kinda considering the GS as a replacement for my 528i lease but more than likely I would just lease the GS if I were to commit myself to one

Lexus is made to last up to 300k+ miles and beyond. My only concern about the 97 is the oil sludge issue. If oil changes weren't done religiously, sludge may build up in there. There's 2 ways to check for it but there's only 1 option to check for it unless he lets you open up a few parts under the hood. Pull the oil dip stick out and check for color of oil. If it's black and "sludge-like" it's likely that the vehicle is starting to build up engine sludge. If it seesms like the right color, there's a CHANCE (not guaranteeing this) that it doesn't have sludge build up. If I were the one buying the vehicle I would definitely look deep into the carfax history and run the VIN at your local Lexus dealership to check if it's been serviced religiously. If it hasn't, it's more than likely serviced at your local Jiffy Lube. Also if the vehicle has aftermarket items like the Double Din NAV you mentioned, I would check to see if everything is functioning correctly like speakers, no error lights or anything, etc. If you are moving to CA for college, you won't have to worry about rust issues here because hardly does it snow here (depending on where you live) for the most part. Drive it, check the functions of everything, listen for funny noises during the test drive (test drive it with the radio OFF, and the fan turned off, if it's too hot/cold then have the fan on low only). Check alignment (in a safe driving situation). If it seems to sound and run good then go for it. Good luck with the car shopping and welcome to LOC!

Window Tint / Tire Pressure Sensors
denslexusgx470 replied to New ES 350 Guy's topic in 07 - 12 Lexus ES350
I MAY know what the tint shop is trying to say. This is the explanation that the tint shop gave me for other items like GPS and radio. Some tints have a metallic in them which is what supposedly helps block out most of the sunlight. Cars that require signals to be transmitted in and out (like GPS, Radio, etc. I suppose TPMS will be the same concept too) should use the more expensive film which is made out of just carbon material. Ask the tint shop if the more expensive one is just a carbon film and if the cheaper one has metallic in it. This is the only explanation I can think of in regards to the relationship between tint and TPMS. My $0.02 -
99 Ls400 Truly Little Old Lady From Pasadena Find
denslexusgx470 replied to Tecwerks's topic in General Chat
Welcome to LOC! It's always a good feeling to purchase an older model car with such low miles. Makes it feel brand new still. Enjoy the LS :) -
Picture isn't too clear but I believe your lens are starting to fade (which is normal due to time). You can either have a detail shop buff that out for you (could cost anywhere between $40 the cheapest to $80 depending on the shop) or if you have your own electric drill at home you can buy a cleaning kit for about $30 (which can be good for several cars, you can make money by cleaning your friends' headlights and eventually earn enough money to pay for the initial cost of the kit). Just a forewarning though. Once you have them cleaned out (whether by a shop or yourself), the lights WILL FADE a lot faster than it took for it to currently fade. One solution to this problem is to have a shop install a 3M clear headlight film which has UV protection which will prevent the headlight from fading ever again. That's what I've done on my cars and *knock on wood* I don't see any signs of fading on them.

Congrats Josh!! :) I'm sure you can find ways to make it up for not being present at your actual anniversary date ;)

For Sale: 2006 Toyota 4Runner

I haven't been the typical magazine guy lately to read which cars are compared to what, but that is what the SALES GUY was trying to compare the LS with because the Lexus dealership and Infiniti dealership here locally are next door neighbors (literally! you can hop the bushes and you're at the competitor's dealership). Sales guy was saying that the M is the CLOSEST competitor to the LS we want but they did admit that the LS is more superior to the M. I should probably drive an M one of these days but I'm not overly impressed with the interior of the M to my tastes. Sat in one at the dealership but I was clearly convinced that I belong next door to the Lexus dealership lol.
