  1. The stair effect (called steps) is totally normal, its designed that way. It provides more light directly in your lane and less in the oncoming lane to prevent blinding of oncoming drivers. The tops of the steps (each beam produces the same pattern) should be at the same level. Go to this thread: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=66226 as i posted some diagrams of how the headlights should be aligned.
  2. There are adjustment screws behind the headlights that will allow the default level of the beam to rise. Turning the screws left and right will adjust the level up and down. Take a peak behind the headlights and find the philips screw.
  3. 1. After you installed the HID kid, did the drivers side EVER work? You say the drivers side is "still out"- but i'm not sure if it worked for a while and is now out or if you were never able to get the drivers side HID to work. If the drivers side low beam light was out before you installed the HID and is STILL out, the problem might not have been with the halogen bulb or the new HID bulb, but with the factory wiring. But if you got the drivers side HID to work at any moment... then i don't know... 2. Your fog lights wont work unless the car can sense that both the low beam lights are working. If one low beam light is broken, the car wont let the fog lights come on. 3. You shouldn't need an error code fixer as there isn't a warning light sensor for the front headlights. 4. As long as you've got everything working (assuming you will) then the electrical tape method is fine. It's just to prevent water from touching the bare wires...
  4. There must be something broken in the locking mechanism. You can remove the entire overhead console and take a peak behind the door to see if it can be fixed. To remove the overhead console, remove the clear light cover (prying off with a flathead screwdriver) and remove two (or maybe 4?) phillips screws. Then there should be 2 more screws needing removal in the sunglasses case area. Then just pull the console down and away from the ceiling.
  5. i'd try ebay. It's where i've gotten all of my steering wheels and airbags with no issues. <_<
  6. Damn... Make sure to tell us what caused this. <_<
  7. Uhh, not really... I don't particularly care for the look, it's more of a BMW thing. <_< Plus i don't think they'd "work" in the RX headlights. I try to keep the "OEM" look too; if i were to have halo's in there, people would most likely think they were aftermarket.
  8. Also, make sure to get the extended warranty JUST before you hit 50k miles, not sooner. The warranty is valid x years from date of purchase. So you'd may as get it at the latest possible time so it lasts the longest <_<
  9. You might be interested in upgrading to the 01-05 GS300/430 wood and leather wheel. They'd fit, you'd just need to get the 01-05 airbag to match. Plugs should be the same. At present i have an 05-06 Es300 steering wheel in my Rx400h, and an 06-07 GS350 airbag. They just look better!
  10. Did you go through insurance? If so, tell them to fix it, you shouldn't have to worry about this type of stuff. Does your Rx have the TPMS sensor system? The system that turns on a light in the dash if the tire pressures are low? If you do, then your spare should have a sensor in it as well. The metal stem you're referring to sounds a lot like the TPMS sensor. Your RX is quite new, so it's a LAW that, (per your request) all parts be replaced with OEM. And yeah, the wheel should have had a lexus center cap. <_<
  11. Probably corrosion or dirt in the leveling sensors. I'm not sure where it's located on the IS, but the leveling sensor on my old Rx300 was connected between the RR control arm and the underside of the car. Looks like a little arm attached to a switch-looking type of thing. Just remove, open up, clean, and replace.
  12. Did Lexus diagnose the problem? It's either the bulb or the ballast... or a more complicated computer issue. I doubt it's a bulb issue since you state they switch back and forth...
  13. The standard HID bulbs in the Lexus IS300 are D2R 85126 by Philips. HIDconcept.com is on ebay and they have them for a decent price. Ballasts, that's another story. They're specific to the car. Not sure how the IS's are, but you may need to take them apart to gain access to the ballasts. On my old Rx300 the ballasts couldn't be removed from the headlights without taking the lenses apart.
  14. Thanks for the compliments :) BTW i responded to your message <_<
  15. WOW... So he gets into an accident due to reckless driving, death resulting, and doesn't go to jail?? What kind of system is this? Even if an officer is on a call, they still aren't allowed to "break any laws" unless they're done "safely". Certainly driving at 126MPH to a call that's already been controlled isn't "safe" practice.
  16. haha, i actually got the tires/rims from California on an eBay auction. The tires are "Dunlop SP Sport 270's" but i can't find them for sale here. Supposedly these are what came with the Rx400h's in the UK...
  17. When I bought my chrome wheels last year they came with brand new tires, so I kept them. I later realized that the tires they came with were very uncommon and not sold in the US. They have excellent ratings but all the local shops can't order them. So if I ever get a flat that can't be repaired, I'm screwed. Just hoping they'll make it until they all need to be replaced.
  18. What do you mean by "dash lights"?Are you referring to the green lights in the radio and shifter panel? Or the gauge cluster or the blue info screen? And what do you mean when you write they only come on in the "first position"? The green "light bulb" looking icon in the gauge cluster goes on whenever your headlights are on.
  19. Yupp, definitely born 40 years too late!
  20. The factory projectors are designed for a specific halogen bulb, and you now have in a specific xenon bulb. The focal points aren't matching up. The filament in halogen bulbs is not in the same place as the illuminating gas chamber in an HID bulb, therefore the projector won't send light in the correct spot. As for the vibrating... the bulbs probably aren't seated correctly. Most likely since the factory projectors aren't made for HID converted bulbs.
  21. Did they replace everything OEM? Or with LED's?
  22. Was the cluster dim as soon as you plugged in the modified cluster? Or was it fine for a while and slowly dimmed day by day? Lextech is a hack company. They probably screwed up the voltage. If it worked fine for a while but has gotten dimmer each day to the point you see right now, then they probably screwed up the resistors which probably blew out all the LED's. And when you say your dimmer switch is "not working" can you be more specific? Did it work before the cluster went dim?
  23. On one of those links lemon provided, it lists someone with an Rx400h having a 0-60 time of 6.5 seconds and there's another person with an Rx350 with a time of 6.7 seconds. Of course they've got someone with an LX under 7 seconds... so you can tell its not very accurate. I wonder if anyone has run actual "scientific" test runs of both the Rx400h and Rx350 side by side... that would be interesting to see.
  24. E-mail sent :)
  25. I still think Southwest had Pacific Southwest beat on the outfits. <_< PSA: and SWA: Actually, i think they beat Hooters Air!!
