    Too Funny

Haha... I thought i recognized that guy!
  2. You may need to do some re-wiring but it can 100% be done. If the LED tails of the 06+ SC are anything like the LED tails of the Rx400h (which i bet they are) then the LED tails work on 12V just like the 02-05 bulb tails.
  3. Looks nice!
  4. What the??? :o That doesn't sound right to me... I'd have the dealer fix and replace everything under warranty.
  5. Like SW said, you'd need to get the matching airbag. You'll also need to confirm if the airbag plugs are the same. Some are single stage while others are double.
  6. I've been having the same problem, just happened 5 minutes ago... EDIT: just happened trying to create this post! It's happened to me a few times on ebay too. It might not be the site. I'm running firefox on vista.
  7. oem or aftermarket? If the latter, check ebay. <_<
  8. if the car is still under warranty then yes it's covered. If not, look on ebay <_<
  9. OH MY GOD! Yes it certainly does hold the bumper in place, and it's a VERY important part. Do you know who worked on the car? If not, go back to the person who sold the car to you and show them.
  10. I would stay with regular chrome, as the "PVD chrome" surface has a dark hue to it- much less reflective and eye catching as standard chrome.
  11. please do a search, as this is a common problem and has been talked about 43658936835703 times <_<
  12. Yeah, i just used a dremel to cut the hole in the low beam side reflector. The reflector's made of a weird composite material, it feels like metal but it's not. It does "break" easily if you try to bend it too. I'm not sure how the aftermarket headlights hold up, they "look" OEM but the materials might be different. I'd try to find a used set of OEM headlights... Do you think you're going to try a retrofit? What projectors do you want to use?
  13. Well, making your own retrofit overall will cost much less than $600, only additional cost is the projectors and bulbs and ballasts... but with the ebay headlights it appears you'd need to buy your own bulbs and ballasts anyway. The only negative to completing a retrofit is that... it's difficult to do, and it takes a LOT of time... a LOT of time. It's a pain to get the headlights apart (some people melt the glue and separate the two parts, others such as myself just cut them open) and it's also a pain to get them adjusted properly. Upon opening them up, i just cut out a giant circle in the low beam reflector, stuck the projector in, adjusted it, and glued. See here: Use my username and password i provided in my first post to log-in. This shows the process of one of my retrofits, one that i did for another Rx300 driver. Used Infiniti M45 projectors. http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=46219&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=rx300&start=0 Some retrofitters use screws, but that's an even harder process. The glue i used (i think i named it in the hidplanet thread) is AWESOME and worked perfectly. Since your Rx300 has halogen, in the least you'd need to purchase a pair of ballasts and a pair of bulbs. You could just get a "kit" but all of the "kits" out there are CRAP. The best bulbs are the ones put out by Philips, either 4300k (same ones in cars with factory HID) or 6000k (bulbs i use, a little more "white" than yellow). And for ballasts i'd recommend denso, the same company that makes them for all Toyota's and Lexus'. You can get a pair of ballasts on ebay for ~$150 and a pair of bulbs for ~$180.
  14. Haha, i know! I wish i had patented my retrofit... :chairshot:
  15. are your wheels chrome or silver painted? Either way, you're going to have to replace them. You "could" have them stripped and re-painted, but it'll be more costly than just getting replacements, and most likely won't hold up. Try to find a set of used ones from eBay or car-parts.com
  16. I'm currently working on wiring up turn signal/puddle light mirror covers on my 07 400h and it IS a LOT of work. I worked a whole day and didn't finish one side so far (and I've done it before on my Prius). Got the passenger side mirror cover installed and wire run through the mirror to the door panel. There's not much room to pull new wires through the mirror's wire sleeve (it's not pre-wired for anything not factory installed). In fact, I had to use a ground wire from the power mirror motors since I couldn't squeeze more than two wires through. Next challenge: pull the wires through the door grommets into the dash area. I imagine it will take 3-4 full days to finish the project. maseace, to where are you going to wire the directional wires to?
  17. You HAVE to see this... http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=65737 :chairshot:
  18. Those MOTHER$*@%&!!!!!! They STOLE my idea!!! A few years ago when i had my Rx300 i did a headlight retrofit, adding LS460 projectors into my Rx300 headlights. The projectors in that ebay auction LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE SHROUDS ON THE LS460!!! Here's the ones you pointed out on ebay: And here are the pictures of MY retrofit from... Dec 7 2008 Here's the link to the thread i started on HIDplanet.com when i did the conversion back in 2008. http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=44998&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=ls460+rx300&start=0 And here's the link to some pictures i posted on HIDplanet.com after they were completed. http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=46408 If you are unable to view the pages, login with my credentials: user-name: cduluk password: lexus There is NO flippin way they came up with that design without seeing mine. Those projectors look JUST like the LS460's... There are THOUSANDS of projector designs out there, but this company just happens to choose and design a LS460 look-alike with no knowledge of how it would look in the Rx300 housing??? It took me MONTHS to find one that would fit! I've never seen these aftermarket headlights before... I've seen some really cheap ugly halogen ones, but not these--these are new. If you look closely at the first ebay picture, embedded at the top left there's a smaller picture of the headlight, but notice the projector is different and the inside housing is chrome... whereas the bigger pictures have the LS460-looking projectors and black housing. The headlight in the corner is the old ugly halogen type that showed up on ebay last year... From my experience, aftermarket projectors are usually of poor performance and the halo's never last... If you can maybe ask the seller what type of projector is in there that may help. You want to make sure you get a very sharp cutoff line (with maybe a little blue in it) vs a fuzzy one with a lot of glare. Another issue you may have with those is getting them installed and working. From the pictures, i can't tell if it's for HID or halogen. In one of the pictures, written in red is "Need use HID and H7 bulb." Only problem is, H7 is a size for halogen, not HID. My guess is that you'd need to buy an H7 conversion bulb, aka an HID bulb that's been retrofitted to an H7 base. And it doesn't appear that ballasts are included (HID bulb ignitors) which means you'd need to buy an HID kit. BUT... if your present Rx300 already has HID, that'll give you bigger problems since from the factory the ballasts are built into the headlight housings... You may need to do some MAJOR wiring to get these functioning. Also, if your Rx300 has HID it also has auto-leveling. From the pictures it doesn't appear the ebay ones have the capability for auto-leveling since the motors aren't included (they've been turned into adjustment screws). So you'd have to lose your auto-leveling feature, and you'd have a yellow warning light come on in the dashboard (since an error occurs when the plugs are disconnected from the motors). Too bad i sold my Rx300 with my retrofitted headlights still installed... i could have sold them to you! I had LS460 Bi-xenon projectors in there (some of the best and widest), with custom blue shields and clear STI lenses... AND, i kept the auto-leveling function... Here's a video i took of my old Rx300 with the LS460 projectors. Upon start-up you can notice the auto-leveling. You'll also notice the gauge cluster i customized (i wired it with LED's and made it so the needles illuminated before the rest) etc.. http://www.viddler.com/explore/cduluk/videos/2/ Can you tell me if your Rx300 has HID or halogen?
  19. Thanks guys :) I'm a college student, only taking one summer class this session, and fortunate enough to not have to work :D so i've been able to squeeze a few hours a day for my projects... But when fall semester comes i'll have to kiss my spare time goodbye. :cries:

    Hybrid

Do you need information for an article or are you interested in purchasing one? If you're trying to write an article i'd say my hybrid (Rx400h) is GREAT. It's fun to be able to creep on people in parking lots with the silence of only the electric motors, the addition of the electric motors gives it better acceleration than the standard gas-only version (the Rx350) and it gets better gas mileage. But in reality, the gas engine kicks in as soon as you hit 5mph, the hybrid RX is only 0.2 seconds faster from 0-60 than the standard gas-only Rx350 (bringing it to 7.2 seconds vs the 7.4 seconds of the Rx350), and the hybrid RX only gets ~5mpg better than the standard gas-only Rx350. AND, it costs about $5,000 more. I'd only suggest the Rx400h (over the Rx350) to someone who enjoys being "different", likes the 2/10ths of a second difference from 0-60 (which isn't that much...) and likes to say they drive a "hybrid SUV". The increase in gas mileage isn't financially justifiable, since it would take years and YEARS of driving before you could make up the difference in sticker price. And Lexus didn't change the "look" of the Rx400h, it's the SAME body design as the Rx350, just with a different front bumper and grille. But one nice thing about the Lexus hybrids is the use of the CVT transmission, working the same way as any other automatic transmission, without the 'feel' and 'sound' of the gears turning over. The sound is completely linear and you don't feel any jolts... The other Lexus hybrid models are the HS250h and the GS450h. The HS is a little toy, just a Prius with a different exterior and cheaply made interior. The GS450h on the other hand is something to brag about. It's the same body design as it's gas-only versions (the GS350 or GS460) just FASTER. But like the RX hybrid, the GS hybrid gets very little increase in MPG, and the increase in 0-60 time is yet again only 0.2 seconds, bringing it to 5.2 seconds vs 5.4 seconds of the GS350 or GS460. Lexus calls the GS450h a "performance hybrid" as it mainly focuses on power rather than gas mileage. The HS250h is DEFINITELY not a performance hybrid, as its main focus is on getting better gas mileage... however still not as good as it's little sister, the Prius. And OH... there's also the RX450h which has replaced the Rx400h for 2010. It's the same body style as the 2010 version of the Rx350, which is the #1 reason why i personally hate it. The 2010 RX design is horrible, absolutely horrible. The lines are all messed up, it's got a very fat @ss and the interior... i won't even go there. Is there any particular hybrid you're interested in getting information on?
  21. nope
  22. It all depends on your location and how you put it up. Around here an 01 with that mileage is going for around $10k. If you keep it up long enough you may get more, but if you want a quick sale you may need to go lower. No one's buying used cars lately...
  23. You'd need to wire them to the front directional wires...
  24. it's beautiful! The color is awesome, really goes well with all of the chrome accents on the 2010 ES. <_<
  25. I don't believe there's an aftermarket tail made for the SC430 with such a tint. Why haven't the sprays you've used held up? Which brand did you use? Did you prep the lens before spray? I've used VHT night shades spray (wasn't on a taillight, but it was used on plastic) and it's held up for me. You need to wetsand the taillight lens with 2000 grit sandpaper before you spray. Do that and it'll hold up perfectly. Make sure it's 2000 grit because anything more aggressive might show scratches. <_<
