  2. looks good but nothing really jumps out for the price. The only thing that stands out of the mobil filter and the Series 200 gear lube in the pix! But then again there Series 2000 has not been made in a few years.

  4. What was that here up there. Maybe it is me with my head cold but I do not get it. For the price I would say they are a good filter. I jsut do not what other kinds of media they have since paper is getting kind of old here. Most "better filters" are glass or cellulose media. Some new ones from Donaldson are nanofiber full synthetic which blow pretty much regular full flow oil filters away. They will have rated at 98.7% efficiency at 15 microns which is about 200X better based on efficiency and capacity. I know these filters will be coming out next month and are good for 25K miles.   5. even with oil testing there is no way to really know. Some are low in certain are and some are higher.

  10. I put new CR2016 batts in my remote and wow, about 50 to 60 feet it works! I bought 5 of there for $4.XX shipped to my door!
  11. Well then how do they know what sensor to replace if they get no MIL or DTC cods? Unless they are testing it and it is getting weak, I have no idea.
  12. How do you know you torqued them too much? Did you use a torque wrench? I hope you are using an inch'lb wrnech here. I never use a torque wrnech on plugs since I have been messing with them. To easy to strip them. Also as soon as you lube threads you are adding torque values to the limits. Each lube is different. As Toysrme stated you are threading into an ALu block and can strip threads easy. Also the OEM gap is .044. My Denso's came pre-gapped soit was just install them. Lastly, as Toysrme stated if it is making a noise, you more then likely removed a vac line without knowing it.

  16. I agree. Get the code read for free. You could spend the $$$ on 02 sensors and then it could be a bad gas cap seal!
  17. Is the DTC (engine light on)? Are you having poor MPG? I would go to autozone and have them hook up there scanner to the car. They do it for free. My car has almost 90K miles and my scanner (snap-on) states that are fine. The sensors are like $180 each for OEM and after market are much less. The two in the engine bay are easy to so and the one by the cat, I have no clue.   18. You have three I think, not 2. There are 2 near engine and one after cat. I have a 98 and all are fine. You need to test them for volts and signal time. I would test them since uless you are getting DTC or failed emmision, you should be fine; unless you have 500 million miles on the OEM ones. Do a search on here since this came up about 2 months ago in this forum.
  19. I changed my oil myself and even though i keep records it isn't from the dealer or from an oil change place. I could just kick myself in the :chairshot: for not keeping better reciepts on my car. I think my wife changed it about two or three times as i was gone to iraq last year though. It was pretty bad, it was 90% blockage and when i took the oil filter off there was maybe about a half of a cup in it.   20. Just going to say that. How bad was it "gunked up". I only ask since it could have had some but nothing to even worry about.
  21. I would drive it around for a few hundred miles then drain. The ATF and diff hold like 4 qts. It is like 0.8 for diff and the rest is tranny.
  22. True it uses the same ATF fluid; but, there are 2 drains and (1) fill location. He needs to drain both. They are both filled at the same location (through atf dipstick).
  23. As I noted above, I think they will (total it). The book value is worth like 75% to fix it. My wife had someone, I will say person that could not speak english hit her, and she let the clown go. She felt bad when the moron hit a her ( a pregnant women.) She called and said it was not that bad. When I got home she said I could just buff it out. I said sweetie, I am not a magician. Well, fender gone, bumper gone, headlight gone & headlight bracket gone. That was about $1100 for OEM parts never mind paint, clear coat, blending door to fendor, hood to fendor etc. No insurance since she did not get his plate number or call the cops! To this day I am still smoking over it. This was 3 weeks ago. Car is all fixed but I hated paying the guy with "large bills".
  24. Anyone that owns a Toyota/Lexus V6 (1MZ-FE) should know something about it as letters were supposedly sent to all registered owners. The only catch is that you have to show proof that you made some kind of reasonable proof that the oil was changed on a regular basis. That in itself was a major topic of discussion (about a year ago) that will not be repeated. If you are interested, use the search key. steviej ← BINGO! If you do not have a letter, call or email Lexus. They will send you a cookie-cutter letter. It will be the same as posted on my quick and dirty webpage just with your name.
  25. I called Lexus and they said to have it inspected by a dealer, and, if the dealer feels that my problem is related to the sludging problem, then they pay for the repairs. I actually know someone who's '98 Camry V6 is being repaired by Toyota, at no cost, as I write this. However, I don't think he had the same problems with his car as I do. The only issue is, if my EGR and other sensor malfunctions are caused or somehow related to the sludging problem. This is not a recall, just something that Toyota has taken it upon themselves to do. Apparently its all '97 to '03 models (last 8 years), with no mileage limitations. Anyone else familiar with this? ← the problem is that you are going to eat the $$$. Spend the $140 and buy a new EGR and call it a day. The "looking" at is going to cost you. If you have sludge you will have smoke etc. The EGR is a common problem and not integral to sludge.
