  1. Well monach you win, I am going to do something JUST FOR YOU. NOTE: this is not a personal attack just something I want to do to maybe close some open items here. I am going to lower my drains from around 12,000 miles on my ES300 to 7,500 miles. I am going to run my oil (synthetic, thank you) and use a glass & cellulose media filter and run 7,500 miles, then oil test. Then I am going to run the same type/brand of oil and run a Toyota filter and then test. Does that sound good? I am not going to use the new 25,000 mile oil filters (on my next drain) since I am sure you would be all over that.
  2. This has come up before, so do a search. I say that since there are LOTS of posts on it. Here is one: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=12761 I just bought a new LCD myself. $95 and I will replace mine this weekend. Mine went nuts so I pushed on the LCD screen. It helped and went back to normal but I guess it does not last long. So I bought the new screen and will be installed in tomorrow. PS. Welcome to LOC!!!! :D :D :D :D
  3. Guess I am the odd ball: Nickleback Shindown Black label Socity. Korn: Drop Kick Murphys Mudvayne Mick Jagger (and stones) Eminem Crossfade System Of A Down Sade
  4. I was thinking about that site. I have 2 CD for my car. One is a pdf of shop books and the other is some service book. Not bad. I think the site was like $50 I think for a day. I think you got me thinking about this awhile aog! :D I wonder if it was worth it just for a day fee and download like on napster.
  5. not being a pain here I would also change the oil in a few miles. I would also run a can of a gas treat "clearner" BEFORE draining the oil but after cleaing TB and Ivac.
  6. OK, I agree with your post 100% but I still do not get that ones statement noted above. I say this since I have one of the cars on this list (98 ES300) and it does NOT have “reflector based hid stock or HID based Reflectors!!!!” It has halogen reflectors since HIDS were not an option back in 97/98 for this car. If it had HIDS I would not have an H7 bulb configuration (for halogen). It would be D2R D2S as a HID bulb. That is what I do not get. I am saying nope but his list says yes.
  7. I had two issues like this on my 98. Plugged MAF (died and would not start) and bad EGR (replaced); car would start but car would go down to 300 rpms and then up to 600, repeat and most likely died. Any engine lights? I assume no.
  8. I agree halogen and HID housings are diff. I know that. But what I am confused on here, maybe it is the Chopin talking, :D is this posted on sheet 2: reflector based hid stock!!!! navigotor wrx sti is300 esclade acura rl 97-04 lexus es300 rx300 gs lincoln ls g35 AND i quit right there so what hid does not have to come with projectors to be stock biggrin.gif So my reflectors can take a HID bulb and be called "stock"? Maybe I am playing both sides here but if I put a HID bulb in my 98 yup it will fit (I know that=h7), but glare will suck along with cutoff (blind people really). Mayeb I just do not understand what "reflector based hid stock" means.
  9. True might not be cought but some pix show glare etc. PLus if I had them it would be nice to have some sort of info on my end to show I am not totally "out there" or clueless. I say I kid this am (5:35 in hartford) with HIDs. They were more blue then cop lights. It looked pretty bad.
  10. Not mad at all here. :D All is good and calm! I would like all of use to continue on this sublect since I personally would like to know more. Not saying he is wrong at all or I am wrong. Just the more info the better I feel since this IS a grey area. If I have stock reflectors that I can put HIDS in great! My tractor looks great with them! :D :D :D
  11. again I am not beating a dead horse. Just looking for info. I thought maybe you found more on it. I am not looking for info as someone states it. I am looking for links to doc that do. Thanks for the info though.
  12. I am not starting a war here trying to find it out since you are right, the info is hard to get. I am looking for links to documentation to state what is legal and what is not. I do not want to go by working right and don't bother nobody and you don't get pulled over". So far all the info I found states if I put a HID bulb in my halogen reflector is it not legal. So that blow the theory of reflector based hid stock in my 1998 ES300. gee, mr grumpy B)
  13. What is a crappy sys here? What is a proper system here? So far all I can see online is that if you installed any HID bulb into a halogen housing it is illegal. http://www.dot.gov/affairs/nhtsa4304.htm http://www.dot.gov/affairs/nhtsa2103.htm http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/rulings/glare.html From a honda forum- "A little bit of background. NHSTA/DOT has been trying to introduce new laws to regulate the sale of HID... well.. they just decided to BAN ALL HID KITS. They do not have a set regulation because HID does not use a filament.. therefore, no matter how accurate the HID kit is, it fails because of that ONE requirement. Well, DUH, HID has no filament, so it automatically fails. After 8/15/2003, HID kits as you know it will never be sold again unless new laws are made. I'm sure there are all types of legal issues here, for one, this has all been done without anyone knowing. After 8/15/03, there will be a $5,000 fine PER DAY for vendors selling HID kits. All HID kits are now on sale on our website. Parts will still be available and warranties will still be honored after the above date. After 8/15, only parts sold for warranty purposes will be allowed. -------------------------------------------------------- Just some FYI: http://orca.st.usm.edu/~jmneal/tiburon/hids.htm
  14. So you are telling me I can put a HID bulb into my stock 98 ES reflector is 100% legal? Even though the cutoff sucks, and the glare is bad? http://faqlight.carpassion.info/
  15. yes and no auto leveling..... ← You do not have OEM HIDS in your car; hence no projectors. The 97 did not even come with projectors as an option. So again you have illegal lighting in your 97 ES. Bad move here. Just you using the adapters shows you are installing into halogen housings = illegal Take a night pix and a cutoff pix. It will look like crap. At least do it right with a retro kit....:chairshot:
  16. I have tint on my car (ES) has 35%. It is not like 50% but I like it and happy with it. I think this law came into effect around 1986. Also the shop I go to will do whatever you want (darker) but they will not give you the lifetime warranty nor a receipt since it will be your issue, not there’s. I like 35 since it helps and only cost around $100.
  17. Hate to tell you a D2R bulb will not fit in a H7 hole in a housing. They have different bases. D2R are not painted bulbs. If they are painted you bought cheap bulbs. D2R bulbs have a little metal shield on the bulb they really does little to nothing. Also based on your pix, you DO have an illegal HID kit in your car since they did not make hid housing in 1997 not did you retro it either. Please see my posts above on illegal HID kits since this applies to you. If you installed HIDS in halogen housing you HAVE glare, poor cutoff and maybe some hotspots. No saying anything new here this why they are illegal per DOT rules. I have included a pix here of 2 bulbs that are real HIDS from Germany. Notice the housing will not fit in H7's? Also notice NO paint on the bulb. You can clearly see the shield on the D2R bulb. You have rebased bulbs to fit in H7 housing and paint (means cheaper bulbs). Sorry
  18. Let me look around. The problem will be it is expensive after the fact. Plus most cars are hid in the front ends and thus damage the lights.
  19. You need projectors for this and I think you do not have them since you did not buy this option. So you do not have hids nor the projectors. The problem is most kids, I use this term since they can't read or understand this (not you just in general) is that is it ILLEGAL to put HID bulbs in halogen housings. This law is for North America, not USA only. Also after 2003 business were to STOP selling them and I have no idea how xenon Depot does it. ALL xenon depot kits are not approved for road use. They are not legal since HIDS in halogen housing have hot spots, poor cut off and major glare which in turn blinds oncoming drivers. The only LEGAL way is retro fit the housings (as noted above). You need the projector and then you can get the ballast, harness, fuses & relays and bulbs (D2R). you can buy these items online for about the same price as one of there kits. PS. Welcome to LOC!!!!! PSS I would stay away from xenon Depot. There service sucks. I know, I bought a pair of HIDS for my tractor and it took almost a month to get. If you want pix of the tractor let me know. Once you see them you will know why they are illegal for road use. The glare is a killer.
  20. That is what I bought when I had my truck. Problem was 3 ton was too small and would not lift it.... But it works fine on the ES.
  21. To long here. My last diff fluid looked like mud after 20K miles and that was with Ford blend gear fluid. Call me dumb here, but the diff hold less then 1 qt and why are we not draining it?
  22. I agree that the cars cost alot some what is the $$$$ at the dealer. It is like people who complain that I spent $700 on a timing belt, water pump, drive belts and cam/crank seals...This is dirt compared to other things and I do not want to do it. But on the other hand, I can buy the same items cheaper or buy better fluids cheaper. Also since driving, I have never ever change ATF at 15K intervals. I do it about double that and never had any issues. Same with my avg 12K oil drains. My last Ford F350 diesel had the word famous E40D (junk tranny) and it did just fine.
