  1. spend sometime reading here for #1 #2 http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...showtopic=26449
  2. I guess I am old school. I always say "Is the car that bad I need a warranty". Save your money and buy neither.
  3. Typcial car dealer. If your took it to the dealer for everything in the book, you woudl be brook. Recommend is just that and I agree with "option00002" here I have never had warrenty issues with any dealer doing my own stuff and not using them for everything I could do. Paying $200 for an oil change, rotate tires and CHECK 90% this/that is a ripoff.
  4. No wax last 6 months here. I live in the Northeast and the longest I have gone with a wax is about 4 months (with CG5050). I also have Zaino Clear seal and is nice but overpimped and over priced. It is also nothing special here. I use Optimum ONR in the winters and it takes about 18 minutes.
  5. I would take Optimum stuff over zaino.
  6. Zaino is good but WAY over pimped
  7. I agree a little. I started on a rotary back in 1992 and have not look back!
  8. They are the same thing in theory. I just bought a OEM on for $177 to my door.
  9. the pan alone on an Es should be about 3.0 qts. the diff is like 0.75 qts
  10. It comes down to the person. I like Amsoil products since they perform great. Redline is a good oil but their drains are short. If you drain Redline engine oil at 7,500 miles you are nuts. Just Walmart for that price and duration since Redline, in this app, is adding ZERO value. In fact test both oil at this drain and I bet they are close in results. The group 5 will not help till "down the road". Why you ask, at even 12,300 miles my Amsoil engine oil (ASL) tested fine. PS. Amsoil ATF can go about 40 to 60K miles and be 100% fine too. I do 35 to 40K drains and the product smells like new and color is, well, like the new gallons I have!
  11. Down south you will NEVER EVER find glass coverage like Mass. All the business would file Chap 11!
  12. Did you check the battery for volts? Does it have a good ground? WIres dirty?
  13. go on autopia. Reviews etc for a long time.
  14. I did the 90k maintenance right around 90,000 miles. Water pump and power steering pump have not been replaced, but the dealership says they do not need to be replaced yet... they're just "seeping." Timing belt was replaced at 90k. Tranny fluid was done last year around April, I believe. Rack-and-pinion was replaced about 2 years ago, if I recall. As another member questioned, why would I want to "stray" from Lexus' recommendations? Because I want to know what needs to be done versus what would be nice to do. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars if I don't need to. I'd like to replace/maintain the items that are most important. Most is the normal stuff. Water pump I would do at next timing belt. But what does seeping mean? Are they leaking? Most times the maintenance is a ripoff and if you know how to use a wrench, do it yourself. How about plugs, wires, antifreeze, hoses, cabin filter, brakes, tires, battery?
  15. depends on waht was done in the past.
  16. If it breaks, it will not hurt anything but a ride home. #2 is why have you not changed it? You own a lexus man and for $395 change the belt! The car is WAY over the mileage along with time duration. Also what other things have you not done since "it runs good"?
  17. PS fluid and ATF are very close excpet for the adds.
  18. If you use polish, it wil remove the old wax. The re-wax
  19. the sad part is that will happen all the time. Unless you have glass coverage and pay zero, I would go to a glass repair person and they should fix like $25.
  20. It is fine but it might have pros/ cons to it. Better pumping at low temps but 5w20 could have elevated wear. 5w20 was created for CAFE reasons. Plus if you have foor ring seal, you will blow/use more oil.
  21. I also must say the same thing. I use them in the winters just to clean salt/sand off. No issues to date.
  22. What did you pay for this fluid. I hope it was NOT over $4 per qt or you got taken here (single qt bottles). The again a case I would not pay over $3 MAX per qt.
  23. Use Amsoil ATF. Will perform better and way better shifting. Plus it lasts WAY longer.Toyota ATF is a rip off.
  24. what I do not get is if he replaces the seal, it will stop, unless the HSG is bad. Sounds like he does not know if that is the leak.
  25. either wait for filter to drain (internal) or get a remote filter.
