  1. it sounds liek a timing miss either that or the airflow sensor i guess the list of variales could go on and on checkt eh intake for a gap in it also
  2. anything is possible but it would mean spliceing a harness and corresponding all the buttons with the deck maybe a good 40 hours of electrical engineering so basically it would not be very simple or worth it
  3. there are 2 types of tools to measure belt tension i can't remember either of their names either but without that special tool there is no way to measure it it is measured in foot lb's like torque
  4. once should mean it works fine are you having problems ? to fyounes sorry i have to many threads to check to replay to all but has the remotes ever worked on your car? i might ponder to say there is a problem with the set and your only option is the dealer and get a new ecu chip and 2 keys to match f you wan t it to work sorry there is no short cut as the double lock tells you it sees the remote but since it does not match what is inside the ecu it will not respond to it
  5. you may have a problem witht eh 02 sensor but it is not going to make the traction light go on it does use the abs magnetic pickup in the hub of each wheel to double for the traction sensor bu it might trip both if that was the trouble no idea why tehy would say it was that sensor to trip it
  6. not sure if the daler has the machine to do the full flush and fill just a drain and fill it is a very simple machine it just uses a collector and the tranny cooler and return line so instead of the fliud going to the cooler it goes in the machine to cuiculate until it is warm since there is a heat activated switch for the tranny to warm up the fluid which stops the full flow inside until it reaches operating temp once it does see the increased flow it stops the cuiculation of the old fluid and lets the tranny drain right into it while the other line sucks up the new fluid to replace what has just left
  7. 2 main things a bad torque of the nuts meaning tehy are not being seated with the rims to the outer rotor hub properly or the rotors are warped which can also be caused by overtightening or non specs of the nuts also does it happen when slowing down as well as speeding up during that speed?
  8. there has been a problem with the throttle bodies and there should be a bulletin for a new revised one and no it is not normal it is what they ( dealers) told most customers as they were out of ideas to try since toyota doesn't engineer bad parts normally just needs to have a more open throttle a good throttle porting would help which is to remove a thin layer of material around it to smooth out the intake air try the dealer again for a resolution
  9. i know the ecu does adjust according driver characteristics in all lexus' but i don't think they have the drive by wire atleast not yet i think only bmw has for their new 7 series and the new 5 to be released
  10. i guesss first where are you located as to which dealer migth be closest and also the camry on for the same year is available and will fit from a toyota dealer if they are closer also check the LOC's vendors like lexus parts they mayy be able to express ship you one quickly
  11. you say ceramic i am am only replacing the rubber with urethane not ceramic making another couldn't be too hard ,just very messy i am in canada so the 45 would be almost like yours but the price of shipping might be a bit crazy the stupid part is the one side of the dogbone is solid but the other has a space around half of it to allow more engine vibration in the mount rather than be transfered this creates a very weak area so i remake them and fill the whole thing much better response from the engine and no noticable vibrations on the other cars besides 45 is feasable but it would have to include a core for me to work with
  12. just wondering how many clicks on the emergency brake handle do or did you have with the problem as it may be them being too close as tehy are on the inside of the rotor
  13. i really think the guy misunderstood you a 15,16 or 17 inch rim must be used on the same sized tire any thing else wil not fit the reason is the inner diameter of the tire at its bead and the rim on its outer diameter have to be the same the tire won't be dangerous because it can't fit their is not enough tire to mate and seal the air in unless it has a huge profile for the sidwall to bend in but even then it is still next to impossible you can change tires size inregards to 205-215 or 225 and the sidewalls anywhere from 50-75 e.g.225/70 15.....this would be a very big tire almost truck sized ther only way to fit another diameter tire is to get another diameter rim as the car will take 14 15 16 17 or 18 inch rims but with corresponding tires to match that pretty much sums it up hope it is clear as mud now :whistles:
  14. i guess there are many questions first which kit what is it made of fibreglass or ureathane is it an original meaning a price of 2500 or a copy knock off around 800 a knock off never fits right without a body shops coaxing an original one can be put on very easily with bolts washers and all holes in the right spots
  15. funny enough i find every lexus seat is unsupportive except the is and the gs never mind the lateral support which it completly lacks the length of the seat is much too short behind the knees causing fatigue in my legs even my wife hates the seats the only thing that she actually prefers my civic for which funny enough has reacros stock from honda i was thinking about getting then lengthed and adding some more lumbar support by an upholster by adding some vinyl materal in spots you can't see for extra length almost like they made lexus interiors to fit small or short people
  16. my one question is is the stops after a good bit of straight driving meaning no stop and go traffic like after a highway ? if so then it might be the torque convertor staying locked up which causes the car to keep moving forward without realesing the wheels from the engine does it ever seem to almost cut out also?
  17. sorry gav_logan i can't remember what year you have but in my 94 and otehrs of the 92-96 vintage the upper dogmount is the easiest and only one to go usually about 45 for it i am in the process of replacing mine with a urethane custom one so as to not have to bother with it breaking agian for the 3rd time, it is also only 2 bolts 2 remove to change it the lower hydralic one is usually more money don't know the price though look on ebay for new badges and save a ton i just found my old invoice for my gold ones and i paid 300 for all inclding a core charge of 50 for the new rear taillight with the emblem ,this included the caps for the wheels not just the emlems
  18. the problem is once one band of clutches go it plugs the filter and pick up causeing less pressure on the clutch plates so there will be excessive wear on the others as well besides once it is apart it is easy to change the parts the labour is taking the trannny out mainly
  19. yah that can work very easy just don't spray it at the alternator as they are a bit touchy
  20. i'll move this to a thread with all the info needed for a stock replacment
  21. change it it is meant to be on my es i don't have a filter in there either so it is just flush and fill since the filter is just a metal mesh rather than a media to be replaced although a good shop should remove and clean it by lowering the pan and cleaning the magnet as well,so the gasket should replaced the cost of the filter a normal tranny service goes for about 100 a nice system to use is the one that attaches to the tranny cooler lines and after it has warmed up and the valve has opened it can then remove all the fluid ion the body of the trans and the torque convertor which can hold about 3 liters alone
  22. i use premium in my 94 i get better respose out of it never checked the mileage form regular gas i get 550 - 600km out of a tank of premium and that is with hard driving mixed city and highway i also have a intake and an exhaust to help the #'s also before the changes i got 450-500km premium also has better cleaners in the fuel so it will help an older car with carbon buid up collecting on the valves andsuch to be cleaned and not cause pre detonation by the build up being cleaned up and heating
  23. your funny and so is your banter this is a community based forum not an argumentative one what i posted were MY thoughts i never said you had to belive them,or even understand them so leave the name calling and other hissy fits outside thanks replying anymore than this is not needed so i will leave your questions stated unanswered in what ever relavent or irrelavent points that maybe
  24. post the paint code located either on the door jam or the trunk mat that can make the issue clearer ( lol) as it will state in code wether there is a clear stage or not my friend also has a black 96 es 300 and it 100% has a clear coat
