  1. i have to agree that all lexus toyotas do make that noise on the cooling exhaust and heat sheild but i would say it is something like the sheild being loose rather than convertor because of the multi sensors put it on a hoist and listen i bet it is one of the multiple sheild that are under there over the cat or resonator as the 2500 rpm suggest that it creates a frequency vibration which is hard to hear from a cracked internal cat( but possible) since it is not real low in rpms is suggests a higher freuqency towards something lighter to be able to move easier i know that makes little sense but check the sheild it may even be the last owner ran soemthing over and loosened one on the manifold as it also has many heat sheilds
  2. glad the faq did help but unless the windows where tinted badly and they knicked the grid on the lower part of the rear window it still should work there is sometimes a connection inside the key which breaks and can be repaired but unless you know what you are looking for to see the broken connection and solder it it is sometimes hard to fix
  3. i am probably going to go against the grain and say use regualr fluid i have synthetic in my es and other who have also used it have found the tranny to die over the years including the RX so when i finally do get mine rebuilt i will not be using it in there again i think it is too slick for the clutches in the auto tranny as it seems to burn them up especially in first
  4. yah there is an adjustment i think a screw with a spring but i could be mistaken and thinking of my other car as i no longer have my stock headlights wow this is my 1000 th post my fingers hurt
  5. did you use a hammer at all when changing the brakes if so you may have moved the hub out of position if there is excessive play in the hub assembly it may need to get replaced as this casues the magnetic sensor in the hub not to sense wheel rotaion causing the light replacing the hub also means you need to replace the abs sensor as it is almost impossible to perss out of the old hub in one peice good luck
  6. i know the feeling with the stupid mounts i am on my 3rd set that is why i know will only uise the custom ureathane dog bone one i am not sure if you have to remove the engine i think it is just a matter of using a jack to keep it in place while you remove the bolts for the front mounts so it doesn't crash down or forward into the rad
  7. it is the same 92-96 supra engine but it is an inline 6 cyl not a V6 engine so you could add the hard ware to make it a twin turbo as some have done or just get one from japan and add it and it isn't realy tuned down for the lexus the toyota version is the same way it is an excellent engine and the turbo one is made to take enough psi to get to 500hp easy no problems as a daily driver a real bullet proof engine and i seem to waste alot of time looking at cars and reading as much on lexus as possible it helps when some one has a weird qestion or atleast a es owner asking about a non es so now i can sound smart because i have broadened my horizens lmao now if i could only spell
  8. i don't think the intake problem would be yours as well just becasue it does chaneg with engine temp but the intake pipe is the black pipe that goes from the air filter box on the left side of the engine tot eh engines intake manifold it is a long black pipe with expansion joints on it
  9. if it is when you are turning especially hard then it is a cv joint for sure

  11. i have a porblem with my 94's master switch also my pin contacts made of plastic are broken underneath sometimes it works for the passanger doors and then stops or goes slow usually i just release and then lightly press the button down and it starts to work a new switch is about 200 as it is for all 4 windows and locks

  13. i dont't own a new one but have heard about the funny tranny thing stevie j would be more on this topic as he has one i think there is another post regarding this same problem throw a search in for it i think lexus was looking for a fix and would buy the car back give 2000 to wait for a fix or something else check the otehr posts though to be more helpful
  14. sounds like you are on track depending on the amp 8 gauge should do it i prefer 4 but that may just be over kill especially if you do not ever intend on adding another amp in the trunk which a thicker gauge wire would help and the remote wire from the ant is right on track also
  15. it is simple but there are detailed instructions posted by steve in the workshop tutorials that explain step by step to remove and reinstall good luck and tell me how it goes and if i can be of any more help
  16. nice to kow the gun worked i also used the ove to soften up the urethane and then perssed it back together and only use the sealer on the outside edges after as the urethane would selal together agian the little fin on the rear lights are you talking abuot where the lights for the liscense plate are that melted? you were supposed to remove them as they are seperate assemblies and it just screws on to the light for support i forgot on one of mine and it also melted nicely but the rest of the light was perfect
  17. i havent looked at how hard it is to replace but can the dogbonejust be replaced the smaller one on the rights side of the car connecting it to the body
  18. the manual is only a 92-93 option it is nice for a minute but then get tiring the seats are not very supportive to sit in and drive a manual car as well and probably will have excessive wear on tehm from the added strain of movement the other reason the manaul was stopped is because the engine changed in 94 and then the camry no longer offered a manual either one thing to watch for is broken engine mounts and y pipes the mounts are pretty soft and the manual will flex the like crazy so look forward to replacing them as the auto does every few years on many cars i do know a guy who did throw the manual in his camry 94 a few isues getting it in there and making changes to the ecu to bypass the tranny that is not there one more thing is the SC 300 also had a manual i think 92-96 but i am not sure on the years
  19. the 10 year inspection is just to have a tech look at all the components as lexus figure they would age in about 14 years so get you to come 2 years early they don't replace anything unless it is bad i wondered about it and then i noticed the section of the lexus service manuals that said it is just an inspection
  20. there is a little slot beside 2 of the wheel nuts to place a flat headed screw driver and pry it away
  21. if you know what the alt is then look at its pully and right below it it has a long bolt and 2 nuts the nnuts need to be loosend first then back out the bolt which lowers the alt and its pully to create more space or for the belt just lenghten the bolt once it is slipped on usually it is about $30 to have the belt changed which might be a better idea or ask a local mechanic to do it at you house it is easy enough and they know it plus only 2 nuts and a bolt and maybe 5 minutes with the right experiance see if you over tighten it you can cause more problem than you could ever want
  22. you are exactly right it is a lexus but all thing being equal a test and lab is only to "try" and fabricate real world situations so for any first year i would definatly especially one with a new engine and tranny plus body it will be better than any other first year but you always want to C.Y.A the 100 you gave them is more for them as it keeps you from going in for minor stuff but a good breakdown or anylittle part will be worth more than 100 so you definatly made a good move

  24. i actually love lexus but i hate the new designed headlights and other exterior features i think they are just awful i love long sleek flowing lines like the old SC, but it was designed using soft clay in ballons,also i California in part the new one is much too short for it design to me, lengthen it and it would be beautiful the ls is good, but not wow the es is just the runt of the litter to me i knid of like the rear lights, but it has an awful chopped look on the lower bumper the rx is a nice improvement over there last few offerings i pray the next GS is awe inspiring like the first gen was and the second still does i really like its grace 05 is a bit away but i keep my fingers crossed
  25. just wondering is that car photshopped or are the wheels that bad in need of an alignment that they are not centered in the wheel well
