  1. actually bart i really like 6300k bulbs much whiter ,no yellow and barely a touch of blue 800k is just ridiculas ,sure it is brighter than halogen still but why compare an apple to a rasin.
  2. got to agree with vcv try switching brands as some have a higher sulphur % causing the smell before calling the cat dead. Army has a point but as usual always the worst possibility one first. Kyle i will explain this as simple as possible about the intake and gas short ram crap --this is garbage because it only ingest hot engine air which is expanded reducing the number of oxygen particles ,it sounds great has lost of power when the engine is cold after time this hot air mixed with gas creates larger deposits of carbon than normal cold air intake where the filter is located outside the engien bay, works wonders when made properly not half assed, by receiving colder air which is more dense in oxygen to facilitate combustion and reduced intake load for vacume in an oem intake system it increases horsepower. A real basic calculation of reduced intertia of the engine used to ingest air can be used for the wheels to spin. You are now increasing the oxygen which also needs more fuel to support the combustion properly to keep it balanced at stocih as needed. If you use normal gas you run lean as it all gets burnt easily and causes the spent gases to get hotter than normal ,as is a lean condition. So higher octane is mandatory for any increase in factory ecu map cruves. By the same token an intake reduces the amount of fuel needed as it can run leaner and richer as thei is more flexability to the mapping now. hope you understand this.
  3. The milage got better from the reduction in vacumeload on the engine now you have filled up the inside of the engien with carbon from using that short arm intake. never mind you took the principle of more power and destroyed it by not useing the best available octane causing you to run lean but i do remember telling this a while ago take it off ,and join the group of other people who threw they in the garbage , do it and i can guarntee the car will improve in performance with a stock intake again
  4. they should when you hold the lock button or is it only turning the key to the lock position and holding it?
  5. oem bulbs need to be replaced with oem bulbs their are some knocking around but they don't last as long and the actual light output is crap
  6. intake bad milage 89 octane guess what i am going to say
  7. part of cbest the original owner may have changed the option to open them or not but they all can
  8. they all need a filter not a mesh media get an external filter for $50 hook it up in 10 minutes and you will never have a problem from fibers clogging the valve body causing a compounding issue of not enough pressure to actuate the clutches to cause them to burn nothign else to it period.....................
  9. did you make sure their isn't a nail or rock in the tire? moved to the RX forum as this is not a detailing question
  10. the switch needs to be replaced as it is not seperating the 2 cuircits for left and right
  11. I have never seen a dealer with a motorvac only independant shops to most dealers throwing a gas tank cleaner and cleaning the throttle body is sufficent for them to say you have a fuel injection service
  12. Blake did you get a "motorvac" or jsut a fuel injection cleaning?
  13. it wont do any damage but it is useless the d-4 change only affects the o/d lockup when in 4th anyway it is useless to drive in 4th unless towing or something needing engine braking
  14. brake pads being dead will and does not turn the light on the only possible way is when the pads wear the fluid takes up the space of it behind the piston so the resevouir goes lower as the fluid displaces used pads
  15. It is supposed to make low frequencies which are felt more than heard it reproduces bass a subwoofer and woofer for non technical terms are the same
  16. they are for alloy wheels never come across chrome plastic caps all the clips are there which is 12 of them to add another coat the best way it to use paint removed from home depot the logos are easily removed from the cap with 4 tabs and a drop of silicone once removed then wipe them to remove the old clearcoat completly or as needed then lay them on newspaper and spray tremclad clearcoat over them in thin layers about 4 coats will make them last for 6 years eaisily total time should be about 1 hour to do the job then they are like new
  17. not bad glad you found it funny how mulitple problems look like one make sure you buy new vsv's they break so easy as you already know
  18. possible stevie otherwise i have no idea what the increased amperage would be for even if it is a proper listing i wouldn;t be suprised it they mixed up the LX470 alternator amperage with the highlander with proper wiring a cap and a yellow top you shoudl have no problem with an 80 amp alternator i don;t have much of an issue but i have 1 amp rated at 400 watts by 6 channels which is proably equal to 1200 by normal distortion standards
  19. ok $80 is fine shipping should be about $20 so $100 total shipped i use paypal for web transactions let me know your email adress if interested. thanks
  20. i think it is the egr especially with the surging problem added it is because the valve is sticking and is slamming shut and open becuase it is sticking it being stuck open because the carbon is cold and hard to move the valve makes the cold engine map from the ecu return more fuel than it can handle to stay started easily so you are starving for air not fuel take it apart and try cleaning it buit results are varied on it actually working perfectly again as it helps but usually needs a new one
  21. thanks for the update puts a whole new spin on stalling issues
  22. unless someone has done it to prive it i have no idea the highlander does have a 1mz-fe engine so it should have the smae alternator but i doubt toyota used a 130 amp alternator normal out put is usually 80-90 amps what would a highlander have to need an excess of 40 amp ? I think someone is blowing smoke up yah
