  1. If your friend who is good with motors says it is too hard ,then either he has no idea about the engien or you shouldn't let him near your car. The fuel filters usually last forever as they are huge and located under the brake booster.

  4. Once you hit 20 posts as a contributing member you can sell. Or become a gold memebr to skip the waiting period.
  5. How the hell are you member 17 and only have 64 posts MCV? See you in a couple of hours.
  6. Make sure it is not leaking. The oil is fine to use a 10 weight instead ,i wouldn't use 5w as it is a bit thin for an older engine.
  7. You need to be a contributing member , not someone coming here to sell their whares, or spamming the boards with junk as happens frequently. If a "NEW" member wants to sell something on the LOC they need to be a gold member.
  8. if it is dipping after being turned off it may be the high idle control valve not working properly to regualte the rpms under a/c load
  9. I just thought it might be your expansion valve being clogged as it is after it has started to cool and the pressure may not be equalizing on the high and low sides
  10. Agreed ,a flashing light means comrpessor lock up. I am stumped.
  11. I had mine chanegd my a Lexus tech for $200 canadian $150 for a new pump and belt. all done in 2 hours. If it is the water pump leaking then you need to replace it as it is more than likely the weeping hole telling you the water pump bearing is worn. In any case the T belt needs to be removed anyway so it would not cost anymore .
  12. I would say the shaft where the o ring was installed is misaligned causing it to crack under high rpm speed wobble.
  13. Not having the return pipe will not make a code. It is against emision laws to have it purge the engine to the atmosphere though. I may be able to get one for you. Do you want chrome or polished as i have only seen polished.
  14. I would agree that swithc is very likely. I had mine replaced by lexus after they relaced my wipers, motors, control unit, and some other parts all because the switch told the wipers to turn off as soon as i turned it off.
  15. Adding steering wheel buttons means taping the harness for the column which includes the airbag. The biggest problem is that is is a large fragile coiled flat wire which may not have extra wires if not equiped with the option.
  16. The throttle body may need some more cleaning. As a motorvac cleans everything that comes into contact with gas not air. So the throttle body is before them and is cleaned by a can sprayed by the tech. It probably needs to thave the secondary bypass recleaned. Take it back and mention it to them, they might redo the throttle body for free.
  17. good work you are prepared to be a great owner with knowledge . With a 95-96 the tranny and service are the most important. Make sure the a/c runs on a hot day. Have a tech inspect it for structural damage and mechanical prefection.
  18. If you work in the feild (did not mention a title) thenm you should know how it works. Have you ever owned a car before that was new enough to have a warranty ? I only aks this because you say you have so much background to the field but do not know the limits which any company works in. I wouldn't take anyones word that they need anything , especially a $3000 repair on their best guess or an estimate without having legitimate technitions back it up. You didn;t have you warr denied you were given basic facts ,so what are you making yourself an !Removed! for and saying you are being blackballed. First wouldn't a "dedicated" owner take his/her vehicle to a lexus dealer to be service, not billy bob's lube and tire? Did they ask you to produce the receipts to prove the work was preformed and when ? You can have it serviced where ever you like but without proof then you are SOL'd.
  19. so you want a plain chrome pipe or one with the nub for the air return tube also?
  20. it will fit as you have lots of fender room to play with. If anything it is an easy fix with a wheel spacer for issues of rubbing witht he shocks to the tire.
  21. People have done it, but a desktop computer is no home for a car. The enviorment is hot ,cold, full of electromagnetic feilds and worst of all power spikes and fluctuations which are deadly to a computer . Basically you need to add an after market lcd screen and an a/v card to run it ,then a power supply/ups to stabilize the power. you then need to add an amp to power the speakers properly as an a/v card cannot do it right. Not the hardest thing to do but hard to do it properly.
  22. I fyou cna weld and drill then you can replace the rod with 2 struts but it won;t be the easiest jo finding a mount.
  23. did you turn the hvac off it is porbably the motors moving in short bursts adjusting the internal vents
