  1. There are lots of options to chrome the grille. To me none look that nice. You can buy the vinyl slats off of eBay and apply them. You can chrome the whole grille which might be tough as it is an alloy of neither pure aluminum with no steel. I could not weld that !Removed! for the life of me ,nothing would stick. You cane buy chrome mesh from most stores and wrap your original grille with it.
  2. First of all no need to be sorry army you did nothing wrong against some mysterious rule or not. Personally it is not because he sold the car or owns a pinto or otherwise. Army is more than welcome to post and add his own personal insights to a discussion as he sees fit. My point of posting was not to point a finger at Army but to pose a question. But as of late what is the point of people makeing a personal diary of there lives including going to school , washing there cars , getting up in the morning and other completely monotonous plights of there daily lives. If every single day every member got up went to there computer and posted about they had a dream of a dragon and princess Leigha would that benefit anyone? How many pages of side discussions would there be? Does it in anyway serve a purpose? How many pages would a member be sifting through to get to a pertinent answer. Now this is in general discussions so anything does go. My side of the coin is the last time i checked the people i wanted to speak to i picked up the phone and shot the sky with them. Now i am putting this out there as i have views very different from many people in the world and i know that. At this point i would like to hear the pros and cons of what this post and others like it have to do to help a "CAR" based community. We don't have a chat room , do does that mean we need one? I don't go to chat rooms , i don't surf with a tub of Vaseline beside me. I use the computer as a tool .It is the greatest resource in the world for info. Problem to me is to many start to rely on this medium as a voice or an actual companion. The real world has real people with real fun and issues. I spend way too much time looking at this screen on this site alone hopefully to further the Lexus community and the aftermarket. Why would anyone want to invest more time asking questions of little to no consequence. Maybe we need 2 general discussions one for Automotive related and the other for personal.
  3. How does this interest anyone here with a Lexus?
  4. Well i have not checked it out in ages and wow it has changed or atleast i am now finding things i can use since i have an LS now. http://www.admiration.ne.jp/main.html 98-00 smoke tail covers exhaust led mirrors grilles eyelids and way more have fun
  5. Studs were simple to install . If i did not wanted the full size rim look ( not for the sake of saying i have"20's") Other wise i would have gone for a nice set of 18's for the look of a nice rim with lots of comfort. I am not sure how much of a degradation of ride as i alreay have new susepnsion and 20's are heavy so there is more bumps but not alot more. For 35 series tires it is not as hard as i thought it would be.
  6. No problem it will run with one plug not firing easily.
  7. Thanks guys, no tints i like the factory light green besides i am not that important to need to hide from anyone yet. The rims are 20X8.5 front and 20X9.5 rear 245 35 20 tires which rub upfront with the drop i have. I am going for a mono chromatic look ,so i will be painting the rims centers ,the grille , maybe the inside of the headlights all the same colour over winter. I am also keeping the 2 tone look as i prefer that style for this car since i am not going the sporty route but a more luxury type one than my ES.
  8. I am not worried but why do you bother asking for help? The point was to get an answer but with no details it makes it completely useless to bother asking. I would assume no one told you it fit, you guessed but have no clue what your are doing with the parts.
  9. Where does the mast not relesase from? The car, the housing itself the nylon thread?' Try and add all the little details to picture what your problem and solution is!
  10. So the hood latch on the dash does not return to its original position? I would say you latch assembly needs lubing. One of the things the dealer does when they service the car. Buy a bottle of pb blaster from napa and spray some on the hood latch at the front of the car and it should let the latch return to locking position to hold the hood and the latch in the car down.
  11. For the love of GOD man who the hell told you it would fit! Can you actually answer a direct question
  12. Everything on my ES i made myself with the LS i figured i would do a box/shelf car without getting crazy like i did with my other one. So when i get bored i'll get some materials and start designing and making it. Black calipers do not really do any car justice to the calipers, you might as well leave them stock. A nice gray or silver would go with your car to make a subtle change.
  13. Installed the hood shocks in 20 minutes and it is so great to not have a broom stick holding the hood up . Worth every cent especially 2 for $60
  14. First here is a how to ,to replace the studs. Well i had to put them on after i installed my 15mm H&R spacers. The spacers took 2 hours to intall as i had not done anything much with the brakes or knuckles on my LS before .For a vetran LS owner it should take 1 hour the most. To install the spacers remove the wheel unbolt the caliper remove set screws for rotor thread a oem nut back on the stud to balance the pressure hit the nut with the hammer about 3 times and it will back out remove nut and old stud install about 1 inch worth of washers on the stud to remove thread the same nut back on this new stud use a c clamp to hold the hub in place to knuckle for install slowly tighten the nut which pulls the stud through make sure it is straight or you will shear off more material than needed and can cause the studs to loosen over time. I would not use power or air tools ,hand tools work fine and keep the loads even. Once you finish the studs install everything again and put the spacer on the hub. It is hub centic so it fits perfectly thats it. Now on to the buisness at hand Here are some shots showing the car and how much the spacer push out the rims to make the front tires flush with the fender. I did not care about tehm being flush ,i just wanted them to fit. They rub so i had to raise the front up . I don;t like the gap but oh well what can you do.Fo now i will leave it until i get a fender rolling machine to make some free space in there.
  15. Sorry to hear Mikey ,but it is the unfortunately honest truth as you well know. If your friend only had a board like this they could run questions by people with some knowledge for input. I just never understood his anger at me for saying "have fun grinding to a halt " which is exactly what will happen , i wasn't wishing it on him . If i had wanted him to get hurt i would have waited for him to post my car broke and i am parting it out. Oh well ,you lose some and some are just losers. Besides he can still read everyones thoughts pro or con as he still comes on line and read posts .Since he was suspended he can't post just read.
  16. I have the same bulbs from when i used to work for Ractive (toucan). They are actually the only good things they ever made and they light up 2-3 times moer than normal bulbs ,i love mine and added them on my civic my ES and LS map lights. Worth the $3 a pair
  17. Since i ran over a 9X12 inch rock at 140 kmh on the highway i also got a slight vibration . So i started to think about your problem in the back of my head every so often for solutions. I threw my rims on last night but i have not gotten up to speed to see if it is gone as i only have the vibrationat 120-130kmh ,it is enough my rearview shakes like i have a system in the trunk. In your case have you ever had someone put it on a hoist and get the car up to the major wobble speed while you watched the drivetrain to try and locate the vibrations? To me with no load it would show its head very quickly as the suspension is unloaded so it can move more than when supressed by weight. I would not do this on the ground with jack stands or you will get that Ferris buellers day off reaction an go screaming down the road.
  18. All parts in the cars usually are all wood but it must have a backing of some sort not as a veneer but as a splintering protection in case of accidents and to make it more resistant to wear. Both of my cars are real wood with plastic backing moulded into them.
  19. Factory as in Toyota? Toyota/Lexus knows nothign of performance and will not as of this point produce anything unless it is average. If you want a dual exhaust you can go to a muffler shop and get a custom made one easily enough to have a dual exhaust . Your truck is based on the 4runner so there is a nice bit of parts for those trucks outside of toyota.
  20. OK i will try this another way. 1. who told you this is a bolt on? 2. besides the headlight assembly ,HID bulbs wiring and ballasts what other parts do you have such as self leveling system ?
  21. It uses the small ones in the middle of the pic up top. It is the same style as the one in the wheel wells.
  22. No clue about the roof spoiler, i wanted to the LS430 one but on closer inspection it has a straight roofline while ours is curved. Over winter i will probably try and make a small one. May even get a set of LED signal mirrors i saw a company has the other day.Just not sure if i like the chunky look of them. I put my spacers and rims on last night so i will add a pic of them later.
