  1. did u just have the front balanced or all 4. from my experence i have found that front tires being out of balence make the wheel vibrate from side to side and the rear being out of ballance make it go front and back. or maby it;s the over way around. but any way did u just have the fron 2 ballanced or all 4?
  2. but we are talking about cars which don't come with factory navigation. i don't think aftermarket dvd player can be worked out through the steering. ← HAS ANYOND DONE THIS MY FRIEND JUST GOT A GX470 AND ASKED ME IF HE COULD PLAY DVD AND AFTER SEARCHING THIS BOARD I STILL HAVE NO ANSWERS. IF ANYONE HAS DONE IT LET ME KNOW. ALSO WERE DO I PUT THE DISK?
  3. i would say that you should take the 4 bolts out of the seat and lean it out the door. then have someone hit the switch, and you sit in the pasanger seat and look under the seat. i would bet the motor moves (because you said it is making noise) and the output shaft moves, but the threds on the output shaft is stripped.
  4. my diff drained about the same color so i would say it should be changed at the same time. and yes it does take the same as the tranz dexron III but .9 liters of it. now back to my tranz i know it looked brown and i know that is not good but do you realy think it is that bad? This is my first auto tranz and i realy do not know much about them except now how to change the filter and fluid so any answers of what else i should do and what i should watch out for would help.
  5. yea the fluid is very dirty that is y i flushed out all the fluid. But the car does have 80000 miles and it had never been done before. and i did change the fliter and that is y i droped the pan to change the filter. i have a 1997 ES 300 and i am 100 % sure that they are seperate. take it from me i just changed it. but again this is a 97 differend years are going to be different
  6. ok the bank 2, sensor 2, is on the front exhaust pipe. to replace it you must get under the car and it is were the exhaust meats the bottom of the exhaust manafold. it disconects under the dash and runs under the seat out to under the car. then goes to the y pipe. But i must warn you that after you change this o2 sensor you might get the code again. this is becasue the sensor is farly new and should not have gone bad unless there is a reason. i would check the lower cat by hitting it with you palm and seeing if it ratels. because that sensor is there just to check if the cat is doing it job. if the sensor is throwing a code i would say that the cat is bad or maby somthing happen to it or another biger problem that you are missing.
  7. why were u removing the fuel injectors and were are the pics
  8. Thanks for replies. What is tsb?? I am bit lost on this one. I even searched net.nada Confused.. :-( SL ← TSB = technical service bulletin
  9. I have the 1997 ES 300 and the differential is a separate part of the transmission and must be drained and refilled separately. it is not that easy to do if you are just putting the car up on jack stands. because you are going to have to really get in there. Once you drain it you need to refill it with a suction gun which could end up all over you face if you are not carefull. Mine took .9 liters of dexron III and i was good to go. If you give me the year of your car and what info you need and I can pull it up on Alldata for you.
  10. I did check the bearing and for abnormal pad wear and did not find any. I get no rocking when i tryed to move the wheel in and out. and i did a compleat tare down of that side of the brakes. Took everything off including the shoes for the ebrake and cleand and lubed everything. check all pad ware and everything check out good. this has been going on for a little over a week and it is starting to drive me crazy. one because i can hear it the other is because i can not find it.
  11. Good pics of the entire procedure + a question of everyone. My right rear wheel seems to be making some noize as the wheel turns. It makes it once per revolution and it is almost like something is grinding. I have an IR heat gun and I pointed it at the rotor and it came up 245 F I went to the other side and did the same thing and it came up 160 F. my question is do u think the caliper is dragging or could it be something with the brake shoes inside the rotor for the ebrake. If you think it is the caliper how to I test to find out. I took apart the entire system to see what I could find and all the parts seam to be moving fine with no problems. please let me know what you think. Thanks matt
  12. i do not think expoy will do anyting i think u neet to take the hood off flaten it a little and then screw some sort of brace to keep it straight.
  13. were is this thread in the tutorial section with pictures?
  14. ok i am doing the job this weekend and i will take pic to post when i am done. if anyone else has any suggestions about what i am about to do let me know. the red pink question only came up because i went to toyta and asked for antifreze for a 97 es and they asked red or pink. and when i asked for tranz fluid they gave me pennzoil dexron III
  15. Well i am doing all this work my self no money to pay someone else. How long have people let there timing belt go for. Is the ES interference motor because if it is i know it is not worth the risk. If it is not I will just take my chances and weight till the water pump or the timing belt goes
  16. I bought my 1997 Lexus es300 with 70000 miles about 6 months ago. It now has 85000 and I think it is time for some service. My plan for the weekend is to do this but I have some questions 1. Change the anti freeze ( should I use the Toyota red or pink antifreeze?) 2.Change the power steering fluid ( using Pennzoil dexron III) 3.Change the tranz fluid by dropping the pan and cleaning the pan out. Putting he pan back on refilling the pan and disconnecting the return. Then starting the car and pumping the old out as I refill it with more Pennzoil dexron III till it comes out clean. ( Does Lexus make a gasket for the pan or should I just use RTV silicone?) 4.Change the differential oil with Pennzoil dexron III Am I missing anything or should I be doing anything different or using different fluids. Any suggestions from people that have done this stuff before. thanks matt
  17. what are the LOCs are you sure the http://www.optionimports.com/5065601.html will fit? they do not say they will

  19. So far I was thinking about using http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...&category=42614 One more question has anyone had problems with vibrations or road noise from them or worst of all wheel studs breaking or wheel falling off?
  20. I have a 1997 Lexus ES 300. I just took off the stock rims to put on a set of 2002 IS 300 rims with 215/50/17 tires. Of course the rear did not fit because I did no check the back spacing. Now that I have done a search and see that I need some sort of spacers I have some questions that I could not find answers to in the forums. 1. is it safe to use spacers 2. First can I use ¼ inch spacers with my stock studs or do I have to replace them with longer ones. 3 what size should I use? I have found 3/6 ¼ 5/16 4 has any one had vibration problems because the stock wheels are hub centric and when I use a spacer they will no longer be hub centric 5. should I use spacers on all 4 wheels so they are all even or should I only really use them on the back. Thanks everyone for your help.
