  1. with 118,00 you should do a motorvac. it is only about a 100 bucks and i think it should be done evey 80k. change back to the stock plugs, what ever it came from the factory with.
  2. you sure no one drove it around with the parking brakes on?
  3. I am looking to replace one of the headrest in my 1997 Lexus ES 300 because it was damaged :cries: and I have a chance to do it. I found a 1996 Toyota Avalon with the same color leather and I can buy one but I do not have the chance to test fit it. Does anyone have any idea if it will fit thanks matt
  4. so what ended up being the problem? you must bring closure to that other can learn. and SKperformance y did you sujest changing the cables from the battery to the starter main ground on the tranny and under the battery tray. what was your logic behind that? again i am just trying to find out what the final problem/fix was
  5. if you have coolant in you oil you are *BLEEP*ed, the antifreeze washes out the oil from the bearings and kill the motor. as for the kit I do not know were you can get it. it was given to me by one of the guys the shop I work in. it has green fluid that goes inside a tub that goes on the radiator top. as the air flows thought the fluid turns yellow if there is carbon monoxide. once you take it off and air goes thought the fluid it turns green again. the other way to test but it is more of a pain in the !Removed! is to use a compression tester. remove all the sparkplugs and do a compression test. this way you can also test the integrity of the motor to see if it is worth fixing. because at 176 it think you are reaching the end of it;s life.
  6. In California there are different smog regulations that require cars to have different emissions equipment most of the time. last time I was out there I bought a motorcycle and it came with all this extra emission equipment. when came back to NJ I just ripped it all off to shed an extra 30 pounds
  7. just a question but any idea y your engine is leaking so bad. it seams like you have an lot of leaks and was just wondering if there was a way to prevent something like this from happening to everyone else.
  8. that is a great line :D and he is right in the morning then the engine is cold it will smoke for a little bit. but once it warms up it should go away. if it does not you might have a blown head gasket. if it is a blow head gasket it will smell sweet. any there is a kit you can buy that connects to the top of the radiator and detects carbon dioxide. if you take it to a shop they should have it. it only takes a second and tells you for sure weather there is a blow head gasket or not.
  9. i am probly one of the cheepest people around so i would just steal the brushes from one of the rear windows and just swap them so i would not have to buy anything. :D buts that is my cheep !Removed! for u :D
  10. I would say it might be the brushes in the motor. easy way to find out. take apart the door and hook up the switches and use it till it stops working . when it does turn the motor by hand half a turn and see if it works. if it does you motor has gone bad. the brushes are landing on a dead spot on the motor. If this turns out to work I would say take the motor apart and see if you can clean the little spaces between the little strips of copper ( the commentator) and if the brushes are warn away see if you can find a motor of about the same size and change the brushes. they are only carbon so u can file them to make them fit. this should buy you a bunch motor time out of the motor. and save u a bunch of money.
  11. will everything shut off if you hit the brakes with the jumper cables still connected to supply power to the car? if you are jump starting the car and then disconnect the cables any you alternator is not supply any power and you tail lights draw enough power it may kill everything, or you short my be in that area. if you have a bad enough short lets say some were on the wires that supply the brake lights it could have blown the rectifier in the alternator. so one you are not charging and 2 you are killing the system when you hit the brakes. also try removing the fuse for the brake lights and see if everything dies when you hit the brakes with the car running. we will address this problem more when you come back with the results from all the test above. This should give us enough info to maybe find you problem
  12. I do not know the difference bettween the 97 and 98 but maby they changed something.
  13. this can be a easy fix with the right tools. You need a 12 volt test light and a volt meter. 1. first start jump start the car and get it running. 2. put he volt meter on the bat and measure the voltage. do u have more then 12.5 volts. 3. turn on your head lights and all your acc that draw power and test the bat voltage again. did it drop below 12.5? if it did you need and alternator and go get one before u do any more. if voltage is above 12.5 move to step 4. 4. turn off the engine and make sure everything is off. everything must me off all lights even the one under the hood if there is one. 5. disconnect one of the bat terminals. connect one side of the test light to the bat were you disconnect the terminal and the other end of the test light to disconnect bat terminal. 6. the light should light up bright is u have a short or something on that is draining the bat. if the light does not come on u did something wrong or do not have a short or draw of current some were. 7. the brightness of the light will be proportional to the unwanted current draw. so in your case if you say the bat is draining in a night is should be bright. 8. you should now go to your fuse panel and start pulling fuses. have someone watch the test light to see when it go out as you pull out fuses. 9. when you remove the fuse and the light goes out you found the circuit were you problem is. YOU left something on on that circuit or there is a sort on one of the wires. When you get this far let me know what circuit it is on and I will post a wiring diagram of the circuit so you can track down the problem.
  14. well you could always go the cheep way and ask them for some camry rims. get used steal camry rims, they can not cost u that much.
  15. yea chrome rims will do that rember the saying chrome won't get you home
  16. well crome is a different story. it starts to peal and and the air will get around it. I see it all the time. take the tire off the rim scrape the crome off on the bead and wire brush the crap out of it. bead seal it and it is good to go.
  17. That is NOT true if you do not have the rear entertianment option. The standard 6-disc changer does NOT have DVD capabilities. THE ONLY WAY YOU GET A DVD PLAYER FROM THE FACTORY IN THE IN THE GX IS IF YOU HAVE THE REAR ENTERTAINMENT OPTION. PERIOD. AGAIN, THE STANDARD 6-DISC CHANGER DOES NOT READ DVDS ← Dam it now i am sad :cries: so now how do i hook up a dvd player to play dvds
  18. Think of it this way I owned 2 cars My 1997 Lexus ES 300 and a 1994 ford ranger both with about 80000 miles. Never had 1 problem with the ranger ever. And I do nothing to it accept change the fluids. I have had stupid little problem with the Lexus that have broken. But here is the difference. The ranger has nothing no power anything not even steering. No interior no nothing. So nothing to go wrong. it has a 4 cyl 2.3L motor putting out a total of 103 hp The Lexus has power everything and because of all of these parts things are going to go bad. It has a 6 cyl 3.0l putting out 200 hp. I would say the ranger is much more reliable but I do not think you can compare them because the options are so different. so when toyota can put out a Toyota Camry that has the opctions and power that the BMW 7 Series has then you can compair them. and the fact that it says Toyota Camry 4-cyl. makes me think it does not have much stuff so nothing to go wrong.
  19. so were do i stick the dvd ( and i am not looking for the answer my !Removed! )
  20. i am 100 % sure they are not filled the same way because i was under ther and did it. I flushed through liters of atf till it came out clean. drove it around and then changed the diff fluid and it was still dirty and only a liter came out. and i was only able to put about a liter back in before it started to over flow. Any one have answers about the questions i posted up top?
  21. 1990 Lexus ES250, 2.5L V6, Auto Trans i am going to have a different shop do it. $356.74 Labor only. still too high? i could do it myself, i just dont have the time, and that diff doesnt make things any easier. ineed to tell the guy at the new place not to flush anything, my trans may not work if he does. now that i have some clear answers, one last thing does the Differential fluid have any relation whattsoever to the Transaxle? and will the diff slip if the fluid in it is burned and then given new? ← the diff will not slip becasue there is nothing to slip. there is a gear that directly drives other gears. the fluid is just to lube them. the diff just lets the wheels move at different speeds when going around turns
  22. I have an 97 ES 300 and I do not see how this could happen, do u have a pic? Are the rims steal or aluminium. if they are steal they could be welded and ground back down to a smooth bead easily. of they are aluminium you would have to back it with argon gas and use a negative DC welder to weld it. then grind it down a big pain in the !Removed! you should be able to take any type of spray that bubbles like windex and spray it around the bead then and see it bubble up if air is getting by. i have something in my shop called bead sealer that is like tar. i use it on rusty beads to seal it and keep air from getting by. i would think about trying this. remove the tire and take a wire brush and clean the bead real good. then use bead sealer and put it all around the bead. put the tire back on and i think is should be fine. I would also think about maybe removing the tire wire brushing it and then wiping epoxy around the bead to seal it. then let it dry and put the tire back on. I think there are always around this problem with out replacing the rims
  23. but were do i put the dvd to play it on the nav screen and rember
  24. i added TRD headers and all getting rid of the cats and everything. 3 inch out of the headers all the way back :D . could see right through that *BLEEP* :D. and i have all the pics to prove it. and gess what only about 30 hp in gains. so there is no way your *BLEEP* put out an extra 43 hp. you even get to see a pic of me welding that *BLEEP*
