  1. Y will it make me sick it it goes? I thought the engine was a non interference engine. so if it were to break the car would just stop and not run. I read about a sight on this board a long time ago. they just sold OEM parts on line i bookmarked it and sinse then have formated the hd and lots it. I have been doing searches on the board but can not seem to find the one i am looking for. so if there are any others that people know if let me know
  2. Well flushing the cooling system is one thing i have done. is stop and go better for a belt or highway? And the big answer i am looking for is a good place to get discounted OEM parts
  3. 2 questions. Best place to get stock OEM Lexus parts online? How long have people pushed off timing belt change? I am doing my best to come up with the money for the parts. I how have 95,000 miles on my ES 300 and I have not gotten around to doing some much needed upkeep. At this point I need new shocks and brakes and I am up for a timing belt change. I have been trying to find a good place to get OEM parts on line but need some suggestions. I have the service manual but are there any good tricks or tips that anyone has before I undertake this project. Thanks for the feedback
  4. tom tom to go. i love it i think u should look into one
  5. the problems is people close the door by the window and it gets out of alliment. so its not the rubber but the glass. you can try putting suff behing the weather stripping to build it up a little and start yelling at people when they close your door by the window.
  6. http://www.mjmautosport.com/projects/ES300...dunit/index.htm on my 1997 es it is behind the glove box
  7. this shows u how to do it on a 1997 ES http://www.mjmautosport.com/how%20to/es%20pcv/
  8. Its not that bad of a job. but very hard to explain. you do need a spring compressor for the front. i get away with not using them in the rear because the springs are light enought that some one can push down and u can take off the nut. I have attached pics of me doing it on some acuras and if u have questions send me an email http://web.njit.edu/~mxl4729/other/tsx/springs/index.htm http://web.njit.edu/~mxl4729/other/cl/springs/index.htm I have not done it to my car because i bottom out on my lift as it is so i do not have pic of it being done on an es. If you live in NJ let me know i have a shop and i can do it cheep
  9. I used 3/16 spacers on my es300 to fit on IS rims. they come realy close to the strut but do not touch. have have them on for over a year and love them. with the 3/16 i got about 8 turns or so. but they do sell longer studs if you are only catching a few threds
  10. I have had a desktop computer in my ES 300 for over a year now. i use it on my 45 min drive to work ever day with no problems. I also have on in my Ford Ranger for over 4 years not with no problems also. 11. Do you have a test light, digital volt meter or , analog volt meter. A meter is the best way to check the ground but you can do it with a test light. Also i am not sure if you know but all amps have a remote termanal. This termanal must be conected 12 volts when the key is on. This turns on the amp only when the car is running so you battery is not drained. I grounded my next to the spare tire. i driled throught the body and screwed it right in using a star washer under the ring clip. This is important because the star washer digs throught the paint to give you a good ground. or you could take some sand paper and sand away the paint under were the ground is attached.
  12. you can bleed them with nothing more then a wrench and peace of tubing and a 1 liter soda bottle and some help from an extra person. this take more work but u do not have to buy anything else. start with the tire farthest from the master cylinder put the tube on the bleeder and extended it into the bottle. have some one pump up the brakes till the petal is real stiff and have them hold it. they you crack the bleeder and have them yell when the petal is almost to the floor. when they yell you close the bleeder. then the person pumps up again and when they hold you crack the bleeder and keep repeating the process until the fluid comes out clear. then move to the other rear tire. when these are done move to the passenger front tire then the drivers tire. also make sure you keep toping off the master cylinder so you do no suck air into the system. good luck
  13. According to the tire rack website, it does not suggest that size as a possible alternitive. Generally, snow tires are usually slightly smaller (or the same factory size), not larger (even though it's a 'slight' bump us in size). Check with a couple of tire dealers before going ahead with the purchase. Perhaps that's one of the main reasons why you can pick them off so cheap? ;) ← the snow tires are only 10mm wider and 6mm higher. that is almost nothing. i would make sure you have 5mm on each side to spare and if u do you can fit them on.
  14. u are right but i got it from a friend at a car dealer. thanks anyway
  15. I am sorry to ask because I hate asking things like this because I know it does not belong. I am looking for the carfax report on this car to make sure it does not have a salvage on it. 1G8ZK527XXZ188745 thanks if anyone can help http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=4545650543
  16. Using a "universal" aftermarket fluid (like Amsoil's) that has not been tested and approved to Toyotas reliability and durability standards - only tested and approved to Amsoil's standards - is inherently risky too. Corporate Toyota recommends using a dedicated Dexron III fluid and preferably genuine Toyota Auto Trans. Fluid. ← When I did my tranz flush I went to Lexus to buy the fluid and they gave me Pennzoil Dexton III fluid. I asked do u have any Toyota brand fluid and that service department said that is what they use. Here are the details from when I did mine. http://www.mjmautosport.com/how%20to/chang...es300/index.htm I did not change to amsoil because I thought it was thinner les viscous and might hurt the clutches in a high mileage tranz. I do not know if this is true because I do not know that much about auto tranzs. as far as I know they are filled with magic and fluid and just work or do not. So has anyone had problems using it because on my next flush I am considering changing to it.
  17. I would say you should not be warming up your car for more then 1 min. after that you are doing more bad then good. just take it slow till your temp gauge is at normal temp
  18. do u hear a taping that increaces with rpm? because that is the noize that tells u you need a valve adjusment.
  19. were did you get the face plate for the headunit. i thought they did not make one for the 1997 ES. please let me know i have been looking for one for a while.
  20. to hide the ir repeater in the clock I actually removed the clock and split it in half. I then filed a hole in the side of the clock for the wire to come out. the ir pick up I placed under the 00 on the clock and clipped the hole thing back together. this way you see nothing. The screen i am using is a http://www.mp3car.com/store/product_info.p...&products_id=33 i think i payed 300 shipped about 2 years ago. It is a VGA touch screen so i use that for everything. i do have a extra hook up in my glove box for a mouse and keyboard but i have not used them yet. i do everything throught the touch screen. I am running windows XP pro media center. You have any pics of yours set up i always like to check out what other lexus are running
  21. Yea i had an fm modulator for the computer but removed it becuase it did not sound as good as i wanted. what fm modulator are u using. in the lex to get any good sound u have to use one like this. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...sspagename=WDVW that one injects the fm right into the antenna and sounds much better then the ones that you just place near the stereo. I when to NJIT but graduated a year ago and just use there hosting for free now. I am only about 40 mins north if you ever want to come and see it. this link has many more of the things I have done to my ES My Webpage and by the way some pics of it done below
