  1. Oh well, here I go, Having driven and currently driving the Mercedes S550 and learning "all" options are up to the discretion of the driver. I find Lexus plays middle of the road..so to speak..I think that most persons able to afford vehicles of that stature have come to a point in their lives where they have shown resonsibility and are capable and have matured enough in their day to day driving responsiblities to afford their passengers access..long subject...to be able to use purchased features as they see fit. In other words Lexus..Baby Boomers want to use what we are given, as time is short..lol..See how stupid this argument is?? Simple..Lexus treats us as younger adults and Mercedes looks to a class above, older, wiser, more refined, wealthy, statured and stable....Simply stated. Lexus needs to "grow up" if they want a share of that elite market they seek and have stepped into with the the 460l and 600. I don't see it happening with their current mindset.
  2. I would try a graphite spray on the key and ignition first...if you haven't already.
  3. Hi Mac, First off, I would contact the AlSayer Group in Kuwait, http://www.alsayer.org/English/Automobile/...es/services.asp and seek advice from them about your concerns. I don't believe the climate is an issue as the AC is quite potent. I surely would choose a light color. I also would opt for a low mileage car as I am not sure about the proficiency of their Lexus mechanics. The carfax would be something I would have in my import Documentation. Good Luck.
  4. Wow Landar, A nice catch, both Gals............. :whistles:
  5. My Goodness, A new Life is a New Day, Congratulations.........!!!!!
  6. Hopefully all will be well, I have no doubt Lexus will address these issues. The old axiom of never buying the first year of a new model still holds true. Steve, as I recall, the 01, 430 had the wind noise issue with the gaskets. No consolation to you guys/gals that purchased a new 460, but I believe Lexus will eventually take care of it for you. Remember, "The squeeky wheel gets the grease". Stay on them.
  7. Between the windnoise and clunking transmission. What's up with that? S550 is back here in Louisiana, if you have been following my evaluation, and no issues at 9300 miles. I Have an option to purchase it as my friend is getting an 08 in the Fall of this year and I am seriously considering taking him up on it at this time. I do hope Lexus get's a little more serious about these disconcerting problems. Some of you have them (these problems) and some don't.....Lexus may or may not take a beating on these issues depending on how they handle it. Does not appear good to me thus far. Just observing as I was looking forward to a 460 but at that price level I am having doubts. Doesn't matter be it a 64k entry or 99k loaded L, these afore mentioned issues are of concern. We shall wait and see and I'm sure there are Lexus engineers working overtime and possibly some unemployed at this time. Love those LS's but I am having reservations.
  8. I also tested lower octane on my 90 ls400 and found the loss of fuel economy was not worth it. I think I came up with a savings of around $3 per tankfull using premium.
  9. Tilt is an easy fix...telescopic is a wiring problem...for tilt go here....http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4237 I just used a nylon washer and added grease.
  10. Your right Steve, He had the whole Southeast...I still remember his mansion in Lighthouse Point on the beach front with the intracoastal on the west side.
  11. I personaly was at that Dealership a few month's ago. It is awesome and HUGE. I remember when he first opened and It was an average size. Your right, It is the largest and for sure the nicest Lexus Dealership in NA if not the world. He will be sorely missed.
  12. It'a a four speed automatic, and i'm not a fool the overdrive is on. duh First off, if you seek help on this forum (duh) is not something to say that garners a lot of heartfelt help. I admit, I may have been wrong as I now have an 02. Getting older and really can't recall if I had a fourth to O/D drive on my 90. I do own my 02 and do apologize if I am wrong. I was trying to help, as most of us do. Good luck in solving your problem and I mean it sincerely.
  13. Are you sure that's not the transciever for the remote?
  14. I have heated and cooled front and heated rear on my 02. Nothing like prepping a cookie for the oven. I've been known to turn up the passenger seat to heat in the summer. I'm single, lol. If I was a guessing man, I would think heated came out in 96/97 since my 98 Trooper had heated front. After that is when I hunted them..lol. Just a guess on the year, but I can say, I will never do without. Neither will my tush.:whistles: The best option "EVER" .
  15. Rob/NC I am starting to get worried about you..LOL..just a friend seeing a strange avitar and concerened the jam is missing the plate. We up Hammer? :whistles: Love U Guy...
  16. If I'm not mistaken, O/D is your fifth gear, Like chilkoot said. The button on the shifter is O/D. You said four gears.
  17. The $3-5k does take into consideration the 90k service.
  18. Nix, That would open an array of lawsuits toward the signatores in the event of an accident. Surely passed on to the insurance council. The best way is to let time and pressure from the competition avail. I do not agree with the right to watch DVD's on the front screen but do have a desire for my "passenger" to change to an alternate route. I believe Mercedes accomplished that with an "azimuth" correction. That means the screen shifts the "content" of the gps enabling the passenger to change the input so the driver cannot see it. Gotta Love those Germans.
  19. I must say the 90 is the most solid car that was built during that decade, for obvious reasons, one being the Toyota/Lexus push into the Luxury market. They knew they had to build a high quality automobile and spent an overly large sum in R&D to develop it to perfection in order to attack that segment. They also took a hit on the selling price in order to get a foothold. That being said, Blake makes a valid point as to the issues down the road, so to speak. Expect to invest another $3-5k to bring it up to snuff. Not a bad investment if you plan on keeping it. It is a tank and deserves the best of care. Still a great price for an auto that is not outdated and can stand up on it's own in pride of ownership. Great cars, no doubt about it. Like any auto of that vintage, maintenance becomes a serious issue. You must be ready to put in the extra bucks to keep it or you will surely be dissapointed. That car is very capable of going 300k plus miles. Are you ready to keep it that long? If yes, then a great, great Deal.

    Our News

I know this is a very delicate subject but just had to express my feelings on the network's handling of the VT Horror. I was not impressed with Matt Lauer's (sp) collar (up cool) during the interview but was more repulsed by his inteviews with family and friends of the slain, so soon after the death of their loved ones. I felt like he seemed to be a buzzard at the scene. Just me? Later the airing of that S.O.B's (Cho) tape really showed NBC's !Removed!. Tough start for something I wish to expound upon. I know they all joined in (networks) and it makes me wonder where the line is drawn between journalism and ratings. I also am aware they backed off but the harm had been done. I can't help but wonder if sensationalism in the news is providing a breeding ground for future wanna be Freaks to out do Cho. Then they will have more news and ratings. Need not mention Iraq. A total circus orchestrated by Bush and not helped, at all, with the constant prodding of the press feeding the enemy. What a mess. Freedom of the press must take into account our personal safety in these trying times. I know, we are all bound by the Constitution which is our omnipotent right. Freedom of the press is a landmark in this Nation but with it must come responsibility and Patriotism. We also have the responsibility in stepping up to the plate maintaining "participation" in our Nation's future, be it Democratic or Republican, Independant or a voice out of the distance to be heard. VOTE. We must take our Nation back and "We the People" must stand up once again to save our Great Nation. These people who have been given our charge will not have us for nickles and dimes which no longer mean a cent. That includes the press. Sounds like the people are tied to the press and visa versa. My point exactly. Take part in your Government, be it Volunteering, Voting or using the net..Do something as often as you can. I hope we all take a "minute in thought" each day to do something positive for our Great Nation following it up in action and words or we shall surely lose our precious Freedom, Let it be it your life's quest as insurance to your generations that follow, to try and steer us back on the course our forefathers set us upon with such kinhearted and well thought out deed and debate. Vote your choice, Vote your mind, But Vote. God Bless America. God Bless our Troops. Peace on Earth..Goodwill towards "All".
  21. If the Dealer did not change the oil during his visits and his visits were for normal maintenance then I would be inclined to look for another. L would indicate 1 quart or so...no oil light?
  22. This could end up a heavy topic..I, for one go with grandma..A double barrelled 12 gauge, double odd buck..wake me up in my sleep and, you know the ending. Handguns are aggresive weapons and usually cause more harm than good in households or anywhere else for that matter. Handguns in the hands of the freaks we have today are a true menace. I have the right to granny's gun and appreciate the priveledge. I also have the right to protect my property and family. No need for handguns or assault weapons, just my opinion. Shotguns are a bit** to conceal and hard to reload. I'm for outlawing hand guns and assault rifles but having an NG armory loaded with them should the need arise and former military are authorized access them in dire emergencies. So, for now, I am happy with my home protection right to bear arms against any intruder. These are the times.
  23. So............. glad to hear you daughter is okay and her friend also............. A time for mourning and a time for relief..My prayers offer only what I have to give in a time of such sorrow. Almost speechless as to this sad, sad situation.
  24. Sometimes during an oil change the "gasket" that goes around the drain plug "bolt" gets torn by the tech and you have to replace it.
