my 02 ES does not have a filter. It has a mesh screen (or strainer) that acts as a filter. It can be removed and cleaned, rinsed and replaced. You can buy a new one if you want but why unless the one in there is visibly damaged. When I recently dropped my pan, I used a OEM gasket and no RTV. RTV is a goopy sealant that mechanics swear by and usually better than a cork gasket. Now keep in mind that if you just drain and then drop your pan, you will only be changing ~4 qts of fluid. This is about 1/3 of the total volume in the tranny system. If you are hooking it up to a flush machine then you will need about 14 qts to do the complete flush. try www.newlexusparts.com fill in your car information under mechanical parts and try looking up the parts yourself. Ralph, There are any number of combinations of sensors that may have triggered the CEL and TRAC off lights to come on. The combination of the two means your car has gone into "safety mode". Resetting the ECU (disconnecting the battery) may work but usually does not because the trigger is still there. The simplest solution is to go to Autozone and have them retrieve the code(s) that are stored in the ECU. This is a free service. Write down all the codes and post them back here. I am not a fan of Toyo either. My 18" Toyo FZ4s sounded like a 18 wheeler by 25k miles. Stick with Michelin, Goodyear or Bridgestone (Turanza LS-V or H only). steviej

yeah, I can't figure this one out. Manufacturers tell you not to turn HIDs on and off quickly and freguently, yet they engineer them to light up when you use the "flash to pass" function. go figure. steivej

not too mention that the 02 ES uses the high bulb at 50% for the DRL. You would also have to deactivate/turn off the DRL or remove the fuse for the DRL so that it could acidentally be turned on again. steviej

look deep on this one. Check brake lines, ABS, trac control and wheel speed sensors. Make sure the heat didn't transfer and pop your hub seal, ball joints and anything else rubber in the area. I had this happen on my SSEi in April of 2002. The pads wore down to metal, friction heated up the axle shaft. The hub grease boiled and blew the seal. The brake line melted and then caught fire. We ended up replacing everything from the pads, caliper, rotor, lines, sensor, half shalf, hub/bearing assembly. I have seen this happen when a caliper sticks. Very common cause is poor technique by a mechanic. Rather than hang a caliper properly, they let it dangle by the brake line. This can crimp a brake line and make the return harder for the fluid, thus the caliper stays in the closed postion keeping the pads against the rotors. Hence a major increase in friction and heat. I have also seen this same scenario occur when a mechanic clamps off a brake line with a pair of vise grips to save time. good luck. steviej

call 1-800-25-LEXUS and ask them. If may be one of those Europe only items. My rear floors have the holes for the carpet stays, but the rear carpets don't have the holes for the stays. Customer Service said they do in Europe, etc. Doesn't help me here was my responce. steviej
