  1. Also, I have read that if the alarm goes off and the battery, disconnected during or immediately after, the next time you attempt to start the vehicle, you must first deactivate the alarm by using it to unlock the door (or just pushing the unlock button). You might want to give that a try.
  2. Yes, if the starter has failed, you would be able to measure 12+ volts at the starter. Sometimes a rap on the starter, itself will get its solenoid to energize, but this may require having your vehicle up in the air. If the starter is not receiving voltage, the ignition switch may be bad.
  3. There could be a loose cable connection, either at the battery or at the other ends. A loose chassis ground connection will produce what you are experiencing. If you are using anti-corrosion (felt) rings for under the battery terminal clamps, they could be preventing the clamp(s) from making full contact with the battery post. You could also have an incompletely charged battery.
  4. Be VERY careful! Without a service manual, you are a brave person, indeed.
  5. Look at the pinned post at the very top of this forum (neat tricks....)
  6. Our RX400h sounds like a jet's turbine engine, BEFORE it starts up - very impressive sound, especially to those standing outside the vehicle. I do not hear any clacking sound at 90,000 + miles. Now, my 01 Corvette had piston slap, but that was not known to reduce the life of the engine. Have you had the dealership start up a used RX350 to hear if it does the same thing as your 09?
  7. Please don't tell us you never had your transmission fluid changed.......
  8. The amount of road noise that permeates the cabin is a big factor. Of course, the total level is directly related to vehicle speed and internal (people/kid-produced) sound levels. Quietness is voice recognition's friend.
  9. Don't we all wish we could park in a garage at our place of employment. (retirees excluded, of course)
  10. Perhaps a triple layer car cover will help..... That's what I use on my cars.
  11. will it eat through a healthy layer of wax?
  12. I have used "Bug and tar remover" or by using my fingernail. For other spot cleanups, I use 3D waterless car wash to keep our vehicles, spotless.
  13. If you do a search for "Lexus VVT-I hose, you'll find a link to the ES350 section of this forum, but dated January of 2010. Apparently, dealerships have been replacing the hose with another rubber one, but a metal version does exist. This metal one, however, requires more disassembly.
  14. As I mentioned, a textured surface is in essence, "a whole nuther ballgame". On a smooth surface, using an abrasive compound can work as long as the same reflectivity as the surrounding area is duplicated.
  15. It appears from these and additional photos sent to me that the air filter enclosure has 2 securing screws and a hinge. Jeannette will verify this and I will add a description of the filter removal process to the procedure that is pinned at the top of these posts. Kudos to Jeannette for doing this, herself. Perhaps others will benefit from her experience. Dave
  16. Jeannette, Which is different, the cabin or engine filter? I believe the only way to show an image is to find it on the internet or your own website and then using the image button, above. I sent you an instant message with my email address so you can send me the photo(s), if you'd like. I may be able to walk you through the install. Dave
  17. Did you see the pinned post, up above that I wrote, pertaining to the RX400h intake and cabin filter replacement? Your vehicle should be similar.
  18. Greetings, Mian 1, Have you checked www.tirerack.com?
  19. Hello, Harry, Clear coats are technically, plastics (polyurethane or acrylics), so it should remove very shallow scratches. I'd have to look at ours, but if the surface to which you are referring has a textured finish, removing a scratch may be a bit difficult, if not impossible without changing the surface finish.
  20. You might also want to try Meguiars ScratchX. I use it all the time on clear coat scratches. It really saves the day, sometimes.
  21. Make sure that your battery ground cable is tight at each connection. An intermittent ground can cause strange electrical issues. If that doesn't work, you may need to take it to a dealership or auto electric shop.
  22. ...and no employee has an RX with which to practice, evidently.
  23. Just a thought, but have you perused www.crutchfield.com? They show Android and Bluetooth receivers for a 2006 RX400h and their tech staff is extremely knowledgeable. That, plus they offer lifetime technical support.
  24. ....good to hear, Zyg. Our HTC and Nokia phones sync up, well with both the RX400h and new Mazda 3, which is a technological powerhouse.
  25. Ask someone you know who already has the phone if you can borrow it to check compatibility. If your wife demands a new Lexus, just because her phone doesn't sync, this would be the worst case of Apple hypnotism (drinking the Apple koolaid), I've every encountered. The sad thing is that Apple is finally catching up to other manufacturer's phones after 2+ years, but that's another story. I'm sorry, I soured on Apple after working with a former Foxconn engineering manager at a company in Chengdu, China, just down the street from the factory shown in this news story from a couple of years ago. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/26/business/ieconomy-apples-ipad-and-the-human-costs-for-workers-in-china.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0
