Estimated tread life is 65,000 miles. 19-inch tires, of course will be a bit more expensive. The General Altimax tires are less expensive ($640/4) but score only average for we and dry braking
  3. If the gas was sitting for 3-4 months then I would suspect it as the culprit.
  4. I found this as a reinitializing procedure for an IS Lexus. There should be something similar for your ES, I'd think. Reinitialize the sunroof by following these steps and see if that helps. 1. Move the sliding roof to the maximum tilted position 2. Release the switch, press the same switch again and hold it for 10 seconds 3. The sliding roof operates in a cycle of TILT DOWN>SLIDE OPEN>SLIDE CLOSE>TILT UP 4. This completes the initializing.
  5. Ah, because you do not have the ML option. That's a shame because Crutchfield makes installation so easy with their very detailed instructions.

  7. Have you checked the owner's manual to see if there is a learn procedure?
  8. Sometimes a mechanic's stethoscope comes in handy for pinpointing noises. I have one and it's come in handy at times. But yes, dry rubber against glass could create noise from vibration.
  9. Perhaps if they had to disconnect the 12 volt battery, the computer has to gather data in order to display an accurate number. I don't notice something like this happening after changing the battery because I don't have MPG displayed as the default.
  10. Does it go away when the engine is warmed up? I found this statement by a Lexus owner:
  11. Are you sure they are all discontinued? 1999 Lexus LS400 Catalytic Converter (lexuspartsnow.com) The site requests that you verify fit with VIN number.
  12. You might want to also check with a Lexus parts department person who can look it up in his or her computer. There could've been changes that happened after your service manual was published.
  13. Our valve cover gaskets were seeping, about a year ago so we had them replaced. Your situation seems to be that you are not absolutely sure where the leak is coming from. If you take your RX to the dealership and they determine that the leak is not coming from their repair, they will charge you for their inspection time. However, if that leak were coming from another source, the tech should've pointed it out to the service advisor. I'd give them a call and explain what you are seeing. They may not charge you for an inspection, given the short length of time after the repair.
  14. My experience may be different from yours but if I am listing to music and the navigation announces a set of directions, I can turn up the volume of the navigation voice without it affecting the music volume, as long as increasing the volume of the navigation voice occurs only during its announcement duration. If I turn up the volume anytime after the navigation voice stops, then my music volume increases. I must react quickly to avoid raising the volume of both.
  15. Hi, Cindy. Could you describe what "smelling hot" means? Do you smell burning oil? If so, the first thing I would do is to look underneath where you park, and pop open the hood to see (with a flashlight) if you can spot any oil leaks. After so many years, valve gaskets tend to allow oil to seep past and onto the exhaust manifolds. That happened to our Rx400h. Gaskets certainly do not last forever.

  18. Note to everyone: You should have the codes read before jumping to any conclusions. If you do not have a code reader, take your vehicle to an auto parts store and ask if they will read them for you.
  19. Is that the height of the bulb assembly? Have you also checked and compared these? 2005 LEXUS RX330 3.3L V6 Headlamp Bulb | RockAuto
  20. Barry, that could be it. I guess that exact circumstance never occured before I change the battery (which also comes from Costco). My guess is that it'll be fine.
  21. Are you certain that the new battery is fully charged? I've never had what you describe happen. Typically when the battery is getting weak from age, a message pops up, telling me that the shifter is not fully in Park (or something like that). You may want to have the battery checked. In the meantime are you able to check the codes?
  22. The key is finding out why the oil was "severely degraded" from the factory. I would try very hard to find out why this would be described that way.
