  1. No no. You cannot wipe the car off after a touchless wash, there is still dirt on the paint surface. It needs to be totally clean before you wipe it down with even an MF towel. Doing that will definately cause swirling.
  2. I disagree completely. These terrorists aren't afraid of us attacking them. They WANT us to attack them because it proves their point and stregnthens their Jihad. If they are so "afraid" then why did they try and blow up a US airliner on Christmas Eve? They aren't afraid of us. Anyways "to make people scared of us" is no reason to go to war.
  3. You mean, you were surprised to find out that you have to ask if an aftermarket part fits your vehicle? That would be automatic to me...
  4. BMW is free for new cars. Older BMWs, dealers charge up to $400 for an oil change depending on the model and the package the owner wants. Now, just like the Lexus you don't have to use the dealer so for the most part I agree with you. As for Audis, why did the VW & Audi specific shop's owner I had my tires from TireRack installed at last year tell me never to trade my Lexus in on an Audi? He said that when he was doing research into which company to service with his new shop, VW & Audi were the clear choice because of their poor reliability and extreme dealer servicing cost which made the fact that their proprietary diagnostic equipment's 4 time higher cost worthwhile. He had 5 Audis in the shop...all under 100,000 miles but out of warranty...every one had a $2k+ repair bill.
  5. I'm betting its black too...

    Snow!

Hope everyone involved in the Blizzard is safe and warm... We got 29"here. Thought I'd share:
  7. Some of those tea party people are really...scary...
  8. Does the paint only flake off the bumper? What color is it? My guess is that at some point before you bought it that bumper was repainted and the incorrect ratio of flex additive was added to the paint. Where did you buy the car from? The Lexus dealer? Lexus dealers very commonly repaint the front bumpers before they sell their CPO cars... As for the scratching, all I can say is you shouldn't be wiping a dirty...or even a clean car with a "wet rag". I've detailed cars for many years and I can't think of a car that wouldn't scratch when wiped that way...if I were you I would have the car fully detailed by a competent detailer, or read up in the detailing section about the products, tools & techniques to do it properly yourself. That should take care of the scratching and the paint issues on the roof (probably staining). All paint needs maintenance.
  9. Actually Nitrogen doesn't do any of those things. It doesn't change the ride and it CERTAINLY doesn't do anything for grip! Air is 80% nitrogen already. I have the Michelin Primacy on mine and they ride fantastic...but they aren't cheap...
  10. Both bulbs, the OEM Lexus bulbs so whatever they use. Boxes are Toyota. Installed, yep he did it. Basically charged $80 per bulb and an hours labor.
  11. 90k miles on an LS is nothing. 90k miles on an LS you know firsthand the condition and maintenance history of is beyond nothing...and $10k for that car is a pittance. Buy it...thank your Dad.
  12. When the car is moving you can, the speed helps the tires turn, it would still be hard. At low speeds though it would be tough.
  13. I would only use the OEM water pump...
  14. I understand the frustration, but overreacting and jumping curbs putting you, your passengers, your vehicle, and others at more risk is silly.
  15. You're absolutely correct, this is the reasoning. It just gives credence to the folks who say machines are getting too "smart" ;)
  16. I would leave the ignition on until you stop just to clarify..., to keep the power assist to the steering and brakes.
  17. Haven't had a chance to check! We have like 12 inches of snow right now with totals up to 30...so the Lexus is safely in the garage. I will definitely give you a honest opinion when I get it back on the road ;)
  18. Not a good price...a great price. $308 to do the timing belt on this car is like $50 an hour. Can't get better than that.
  19. You need to drive on a long trip. Like...several hours. Pay the dealer $200 to look at it if you want lol Don't ask the dealer, just unplug the battery.
  20. Cool...parts.com would have saved me $40 on my front suspension repair...
  21. Makes me wonder just what was so bad about a throttle cable?
  22. I agree...anyone can do that. Saying however that neutral wouldn't solve the issue isn't true though.
  23. I'm the boss...and sure you want to say that sometimes but part of being a good businessman is being able to control your emotions and responses. It is NEVER appropriate to respond to a customer like that regardless of what the situation is. Simply never appropriate. Its bad for business, just look at this thread... Anybody that works for me ever says anything to a customer like that is fired. Had he just said "The information you are looking for can be found on the third post in the first link, let me know if you continue to have problems". But calling him a lazy b@stard? You don't want to do business with someone who talks to customers, even difficult customers like this guy that way.
  24. Audi does make a beautiful car. However...owning one VW in my life was enough. The repair costs because of the diagnostic equipment are...incredible...
  25. I don't think it helps or hurts.
