  1. I don't think they ever had such a safety override...
  2. I think the LS is pretty insulated from this issue. I was thinking a new ES.
  3. Those look like the OEM mats to me. "OE" or "OEM" stands for "original equipment" and "original equipment manufaturer". All cars come with carpet mats. I hardly think they're tacky...they're what floor mats look like. I use allweather mats but only in the winter.
  4. Thats what I have always heard...
  5. I haven't gotten the chance to switch them...because today its working again! I had the Prius at my mechanic today and he said he had some of the OEM bulbs in stock he would sell me for $80 a piece and put them in for me. Not sure thats the issue now though...I'll call him on Monday. Yeah used light bulbs...can't get behind that!
  6. But Archie, the ES350 is also made in Japan. THis isn't just a US built problem
  7. I saw it at the car show today. They're growing on me...its a little angular and I wasn't totally thrilled about how the angular new bits meshed with the smooth basic shape. The 2010 has a matte wood option which is very sharp...
  8. Yeah I throw you a bone from time to time ;)
  9. I think the OEM bulbs are made by Phillips (size D2R), I found them for $35 each...and $95 each. I'm dubious about the $35 ones... I'd like to be sure its the bulb though...
  10. They don't come in an H or V rating though...
  11. Good to see you JC! I've gotten the best prices here: www.mylexparts.com
  12. I might just give it a shot and see lol... HID light just burned out on mine ;)

RX is right, don't jump to any rash decisions. They will work this out, in fact I'm tempted to go buy one right now I bet you can get a killer deal...just realized how that sounds LOL. Pun not-intended. I am not afraid to drive my 03 ES300 at all. Even if there is a serious problem the % are so small...
  14. I personally am very interested to see what the ACTUAL issue is here...I think like you that the issue is in the DBW system. Articles say that Lexus started using it in '02, but my dad's '98 LS400 had a DBW system.
  15. It depends on what you're looking for. I definately found the ride in the ES better...the ride in the Genesis and MKS is closer to the GS, which you obviously prefer...
  16. I personally am thinking this might just be the time for me to get a new Lexus lol
  17. Take a picture and post it...we can tell you.
  18. Hey guys. About a week ago I noticed the driver's side HID was out. I stopped the car and turned the lights on and off a couple times and it came back on. It has been fine ever since. Tonight though its out and it doesn't seem to be coming back on. No change in color, no purpling. First time I've ever had an HID lamp fail. Sound like the bulb or the ballast? If its the bulb, what are the best ones to buy and where should I get them?
  19. Yeah I too am impressed by thier willingness to do what they've done...
  20. The power tilt/telescoping steering wheel works exactly the same way in the Genesis and the MKS as it does in the Lexus. Almost all luxury cars have that feature nowadays...which is why they really don't talk about it. This is 100% accurate, I know because I drove both cars and experienced it working in exactly the same way as the Lexus.
  21. The DTE on the computer is not very accurate. Its based on the recorded MPG over time. When I've been around town it will read 275-290 after a complete fillup. When I've been on a highway trip or something it might say 310. Real world range is 350+
  22. This recall has nothing to do with software. The issue is with a specific accelerator unit manufactured by a specific manufacturer. Cars that do not have that unit are unaffected. THink about the number of cars Toyota has sold in 10 years and compare that figure...
  23. Good purchase! Mine have the 620 treadwear rating too and they are pretty worn out at 30k miles, probably have another 10k in them, 5 at the worst. Same as the 440 rated MXV4+. I'm happy with that life too... Sorry to be blunt but the Goodyear Integrity tires suck. We had them on the Prius and they are awful, terrible ride and noise, zero wet weather traction, really soft sidewalls affording sloppy turn in etc. It would be a crime to put those tires on an LS IMHO. I would never even buy another set for the Prius. That would be inadvisable since the OEM tire size for his 2000 LS400 is 225 60R16.
  24. I'd buy a new Taurus over a Camry any day of the week. In fact, I'll take it one step further. In the current market...I wouldn't even consider a Camry. Sonata...Taurus...Genesis on the upper models...blow the Camry out of the market. The Accord is still a lot of car...again blows the Camry out of the market. Mazda 6...the list goes on. Toyota better watch it.
  25. I just looked at the list for the latest recall, the RX isn't on it...no Lexus is actually. I think its quite remarkable Toyota is actually going to stop selling the effected cars until they devise a fix...
