  1. LOL! Not saying I'm wrong? You seemed pretty matter-of-fact about it yesterday. All I can offer you is my experience and the experience of the other detailers I've spoken to. No clear.
  2. Its a temp sensor for the Auto AC
  3. A lot of dealers in NJ add on things like wheels, tinting, striping etc before they put their cars on the lot then add them to the sticker...
  4. LOL, nothing like good advice huh?
  5. Right...every car I polished had the clear burned through in some way that was completely invisible. Thats perfectly logical. Whatever you say
  6. No such thing as a 1995 IS300. Is it an ES? My guess is a bad catalytic converter...wouldn't be an O2 sensor. The bad cat could have fouled an O2 sensor I suppose...
  7. The 98-00 LS400s are getting so cheap I've often thought of buying one to fix up and keep as a third car.
  8. I can't speak for the 460, because I have never detailed one...but before 2006 Lexus black absolutely had no clearcoat. Its a dead giveaway when you machine compound one because you get black paint transfer onto your buffing pads. You only get paint transfer you can see when the car has no clearcoat, obviously there is transfer when there is a clearcoat...its just clear. I used to own a detailing business and I have detailed dozens of black Lexus vehicles and trust me...no clearcoat. Black Toyotas have a clearcoat...but not Lexus black onyx. Google "Lexus AND black AND clearcoat" its discussed all over all the detailing forums. 9. My specific favorite year Lexus? Hmm thats tough. Overall the LS is my favorite Lexus...I'd have to say the 98-00 generation because it makes me think of my Dad and its the car that originally got me into the brand.
  10. He did a lot better than that ;)
  11. Maybe not, the manual doesn't really talk about holding them close. I'll try again...
  12. Cool article. One of the real reasons Lexus black looks so much deeper than black from other manufacturers is Lexus black has no clearcoat.
  13. Yes, that is obnoxious! Thats my only complaint though. I don't often search for songs, I just play playlists.
  14. Well I had the 1,000 mile check done today and also had the oil changed to full synthetic. I plan to have Lexus change it again at 5k miles and then I'll start taking it to my independent mechanic. I thought I would take a little time and write down my thoughts. I am really happy with the car, I just can't believe how much better the driving experience is compared to the 2003. The car feels much heavier and more substantial and the ride is much flatter. Like I said before its definitely a little bit sportier and I like that. So far everything is operating exactly as designed. I'm still getting the sensor sensitivity fine tuned for the smog sensor and the dimmer for the panel backlighting. I love the input for the iPod, it works great and having the satellite radio built into the radio is great too. Voice controls...still suck. Better than in the Prius but more frustrating than anything. Loving the XM NavTraffic & Weather. Lexus Enform...haven't had any use for it yet so I probably will not extend the subscription beyond the first year. The cooled seats work great. The stereo is really only so/so. Its definitely flatter than the ML in the '03, but I wasn't really in love with the sound on the ML in the 2010 either. I may think about asking an audi shop what they could do to maybe give the system a little more oomph without it costing a lot and without it looking aftermarket. We'll see. Sounds better when its loud. I'll keep y'all updated!
  15. I'm not sure mine exhibits the same noise as yours, but it does not idle as smoothly as the 2003 does. I think its probably the timing chain vs the timing belt. Supposedly thats why Lexus resisted going to the chan from the belt for so long. It certainly isn't anything embarrassing or that would cause me to turn up the radio though...so maybe its a separate issue with yours...
  16. Hold down the preset position and the radio station will save... For the phone numbers I don't know...I've always just transferred my phonebook to the car...
  17. LOL, I have had exactly the same experience. Another BofA story! I have a BofA business Visa card. Always pay in full on or before the due date. I come on today to be sure the payment has cleared. There on my account is the payment...cleared...and a $49 late fee. I look over to be sure I hadn't screwed up. No...Due date is 8/3...payment posted 8/2....late fee charged.....8/2! How can they charge a late fee the day before the bill is due?!?! F these crooks! Now I'll have to call them...
  18. I *believe* the dual stage airbags came out in 99 or 00...
  19. The issue you are having is not towing...its cutting into the factory wiring. Of course that will void the warranty...it would on any car...
  20. Are you certain the car has the original windshield glass? This is common after a poor windshield replacement...
  21. Nice! Same interior color as mine...
  22. Yeah I'd say that should be covered...
  23. Nice! We want pics of the interior too!
  24. I hate BofA. Your story is actually really amusing to me, let me share a recent story with you. I am a longtime BofA customer...I have two checking accounts (one business, one personal) a savings account, 3 credit cards and I am a real estate broker who does business with them on the mortgage side. I asked them to notarize five pages for me one time at my branch...they said no because their limit was three. I reminded them I had been a customer for over 10 years, have two checking accounts, a savings account, 3 credit cards and I refer them mortgages through my business. Didn't matter. I went next door to Chevy Chase (local bank now owned by Capital One) where I have NO accounts...they happily notarized all five pages. How about that. Then another story. I have two checking accounts, one my company pays me into and then I immediately transfer the money out into our joint account from there. So that first account sits empty most of the time...has for years. I don't really have to do it this way, but I like having my checking account insulated from stuff like that. So I get paid a few months back...and transfer the money out like I always do. I was getting paid on something else a few days later and log on to see if it had cleared the account. The account was gone. I called BofA who swore up and down I closed the account, I asked them why I would close an account and then have a direct deposit go into it afterwards? They said they did not know but they did see the direct deposit sitting there attached to my closed account. I would have to go to a branch. So now I think my account has been stolen or something. So I walk down to the branch down the street from my office. I walk in, tell the woman at the podium "Someone unauthorized by me closed and emptied my checking account" she didn't even react, no concern, no nothing. She told me I would have to wait. So I sat there while they had little old ladies open up savings accounts with $100. I kept reminding the woman "I'm here for fraud, someone closed and emptied my account, do I really have to wait for all these people, isn't, you know my problem kinda important?". No...I'd have to wait. So its finally my turn. The woman says "Well sir, you closed this account" "NO, I didn't close the account!" She calls someone presumably who can tell their !Removed! from a hole in the ground. Apparently BofA had a new policy! When a customer empties their account...and it sits empty for 3 days...its automatically closed! She literally asked them "When were the accountholders going to be informed about that change?" and then "When were the branch managers going to be informed of that change?". She was very apologetic and agreed with me that doing something like that was incredible. I said "I kinda don't know if I can continue to do business with Bank of America..." and she said "I don't blame you. Its a mess here, they let all the staff go, its 2:30 and the branch manager is just gone for the day with no notice. I'd go to Chevy Chase" So I did. You cant get them to close your accounts...I can't get them to leave mine open!
  25. When I picked up the 350 I was up until 1:30AM setting everything up out in the garage. Lexus REALLY has a lot more tech than they used to don't they? Makes your RX and my old ES look like a couple of stripped down models by comparison. I love how they let you set all the LPS settings through the nav now... We'll have to meet halfway sometime for lunch, that'd be fun. Kent Narrows or something maybe...
