I'm confused about your statement "polish is good because you dont have to buff it". A polish is a paint improvement step, it cleans the paint, adds oils and smooths the surface. It has no protection properties like a wax or sealant. Its like having nothing on the car at all. You MUST put a wax or a sealant on top of polished paint to get any protection at all. And as for not havving to buff, every product has to be applied, and then wiped off...

The problem is the offset, I've heard some people say the LS wheels require spacers in order to fit right, which I believe the IS wheels require when put on the LS. Some people however say there is no problem...

ANOTHER Steve LOL, welcome! Congratulations on your purchase, its a GREAT car. As for the transmission, the reason he told you to do that is because the ES transmission can have a hard shift pattern when in overdrive. Basically when driving in 4th, you're just driving without overdrive. See if it bothers you, if not, just leave it in D. As for gas, there's different viewpoints here, but I say, hey, its a $40,000 car, run premium why take a chance. Detailing. Again, its an expensive car, and with the proper care a Lexus can look amazing, better than new after a few years. Lexus actually selects their materials so they all wear and age at precisely the same rate, and with some regular upkeep the car will look like its never been driven, even with 100,000 miles on the clock. Now, I'm a car detailler by hobby, its what I do to relax. Some people build things, some people work in their garden, I clean my car LOL. I wash once a week, and wax once a month. Luckily you chose one of the easiest colors to care for, it doesnt show much dirt, and it doesnt show ANY scratches. Basically you can run it through a carwash (a good, reputable brushless all soft cloth one) and wax it once a year and it'll look great. Now, if you're not willing to devote the time once or twice a year to protect the finish (which is fine, its not everybody's thing) then I do reccomend that you find a good detailer that can wax the car every once and a while. A full detail on an ES wont cost more than $120 or so, and I feel it would be money well spent. DO NOT let the dealer detail the car, I garuntee they'll do it wrong. I made them deliver mine to me still in the plastic wrapping lol Treat it right, and it'll be as beautiful, reliable, and classy as it is right now for many many years to come ;)

You definately wont be able to find P21S in any store like Pepboys. Think of it like shopping for Jean Paul Gaultier cologne at the CVS ;) What you CAN do is find a local Harley Davidson dealer, they sell P21S products under the name "S100" for their motorcycles. Same stuff, just cheaper. If you'd rather have the actual P21S (I order it because there is no Harley dealer near me) check out their website www.p21s.com They have a state by state retailer guide. However, they only sell it in high end car care boutiques and the markup is insane. I order mine from www.properautocare.com . They have it there for $25 a can, which is a good price. They also have another great paste wax that I'm going to try after the P21S called Pinnacle Souveran. Its kind of a debate which is better on dark paint, and since the P21S was cheaper, I thought I'd try it first. I'll tell ya, the Souveran would be hard pressed to be worth $50 more per can... Try out the P21S, you'll love it.

It does make the car quieter but I think you're confusing laminated glass with double paned glass. All windshields are laminated, meaning they're two pieces of glass with a laminate in between. This is what makes windshields impossible to shatter. All other windows are tempered, when they break, they bust into very small peices. Thats why side windows dont crack, they explode completely. Some high end luxo cars have two panes of tempered side glass, like a house window. The LS430 doesn't, nor does the LS400. It does cut down noise, but the LS has never needed it because of its aerodynamics.

No, the 4.3 liter in the LS and the 4.7 liter I-FORCE are different engines. They may use the same block, slightly modified but I would doubt it.

Have you installed them yet? I get conflicting reports as to whether or not they'll fit. The stock LS430 tire size is 225 series width. You'll want the same height as the ES tires to maintain the stock ride height at wheel rotation diameter to avid recalibrating the speedo.

Yep, its the phone. If you want to make it work its actually pretty cool, unlike the older analog systems of the LS400 its a totally digital, Sprint PCS system. Just get the appropriate phone from Lexus.

I'm afraid that I dont at all understand what you mean. Censoring of postings, information you can't see? Huh? This site is in no way affiliated to the Toyota Motor Company, I have no information that anyone else doesn't have. I don't work for Lexus. I've given you all the information I or anyone else for that matter knows about the ES330. I've compiled it from talking with people in the industry, salespeople, other dealership staff, other enthusiasts, analysts, and just plain detective work on my part. Lexus is VERY tight lipped, and they have released nothing about the ES330 except "It will have the 3.3 liter V6, it will be called the ES330 with few changes" thats it. Its not a new redesign or anything, its just an engine upgrade. I was trying to share with you my opinion that if you waited, you'd be dissapointed by the lack of changes, and the increase in price. Its not that people aren't interested or excited about the "new" model, its that there's no information out there for us to be excited about.

No. if you prefer the 6000k bulbs then they'll just pop right into your GS, like replacing a normal light bulb.

The engine in the GS is both noisier and revvier, both on purpose. Its supposed to impart a sportier feel.

Wax wont accomplish anything that the RainX or Aquapel won't. Removing the buildup on the window using dawn, or even better a clay bar may work somewhat.

Actually, all gen LS400s, 90-00 are electronically limited to 149MPH. The old LS400's cD (co-efficient of drag) isn't much lower than the older versions, it is .29, and the second and third gens are .28. The 430 is limited to 131 I believe, because of the ULEV certification.

The GX, alsong with most Lexuses employs a throttle by wire system. That is, it doesn't have a throttle cable that connects it to the throttle body like a normal car. Instead is uses a series of electronic sensors to remotely tell the throttle body to open, which allows air into the combustion chamber and makes the car go. Whenever you push the gas, and the engine revs, the system has told the throttle body to open up because you want to go. What he's saying is the GX is prone to failures of that system, so the vehicle would idle fine, but when you'd hit the gas, nothing would happen.

Basically thats a problem with all wagon style vehicle. I drove an Explorer for years (still have it in fact) before I got the Lexus, and the dirt accumulating back there was always a problem. I'm sure its a problem on RX300s without the rear wing also. What I would do is try a product like Aquapel or RainX on the glass that makes the surface slicker, so there would be less accumulation of dirt and dust. Aside from trying to find a new rear wing that is more funtional, I dont know what else I can tell ya.

Nope, the 2000 Model is identical to the 98. In 2001 the car got new taillights, a new grille, green tinted headlamps, new wheels, and a new steering wheel.

Yeah you'll always want to do the sealant before the wax, wax will bond to sealant, but sealant won't bond to wax. You'll want to compound, or at least wash with Dawn dishwashing liquid before the sealant to make sure the surface is wax free, otherwise the sealant will do nothing for you. Yeah, you can use real Zymol over the sealant as long as it isn't a cleaner wax. I reccomend you try the P21S wax though, its worlds better than Zymol.

I love the smoothness. I've driven a lot of cars, I drove a lot before I bought the ES, and nothing has that creamy smoothness the Lexus has, it just rides so effortlessly on the road. Really relaxing. A lot of times I just get in the car after a long day, turn off the radio and just enjoy the silence.

I believe you're talking about "Zymol". There are two types of Zymol out there, the kind you buy in stores which isn't zymol at all, its rebadged Turtle Wax, and the kind that you buy from Lexus dealers and Zymol itself. The real zymol I agree is great stuff, the store stuff, not so much. At least, if you think it is there are a whole bunch of products you gotta try! There are two types of protectants you can put on the paint, waxes and sealants. A wax is something that we traditionally hear about, carnuaba etc. A sealant is something like Zaino or Klasse. The school of thought is that a sealant gives more shine, but less depth. It also lasts MUCH longer. A carnuaba adds more depth and "wet look" but it lasts a fraction of the time. The best carnuaba is gone in days or weeks, sealants last months to a year. Another good property of sealants is that they can be layered, waxes typically can not. A lot of people use a sealant, then top with a carnuaba to get the best of both worlds, this is what I do. I'm using 5 coats Poorboys EX sealant topped with P21S Wax. The paint is prepped before hand with Meguiars Dual Action Cleaning Polish to remove hairline scratches and swirls, and P21S Gloss Enhancing Paintwork Cleanser. All work done with a Porter Cable Orbital polisher. I use Poorboys High Gloss tire shine buffed to a matte finish. It looks great Lexus paint is always great to work on, especially the garnet. The P21S Wax is heralded in the detailing community as the easiest on/off wax out there.
