  1. Basically ECT PWR changes some shift points for better response. Its a feature, its use isn't a neccesity.
  2. Let me know what happens. The concern doesn't really affect me, but I'll definately put in for the update if there is one.
  3. What kind of rattle is it in the front Steve? Have you tried lubing the moonroof glides with some grease? As for the seat stitching, either they did something to snag it, or it had a fault from the factory in the stitching. As for the gas mileage, the manfacturer's estimates are just that, estimates. 19 when they estimate 21 is acceptable. I get around 19/20 driving hard.
  4. A lot of times cheap tires will actually last longer, harder rubber and such. The good smooth quiet tires are the ones that will wear quick...
  5. I have niether of those problems myself. I doubt that the windshield wiper issue has anything to do with the glass itself, more likely there are rubber deposits on the glass surface that are streaking as the wiper passes. You're going to need some sort of polish or a claybar to really clean the window well. Another peice of advice is to go out and buy some better wiper blades than the OEM Lexus ones. Bosch makes good ones, so does PIAA.
  6. VSC is Lexus' stability control system. It has yaw sensors that sense if the car is in a slide, then applies brakes to certain wheels to correct the skid. Have they tried cleaning the yaw or ABS sensors?
  7. It all depends on the brand of tires, how you care for them, and how you drive. The LS is hard on tires generally, its a heavy car. The 17s are much more prone to tire wear, and they're quite expensive to replace. Basically there isn't anything you can do except rotate them regularly, keep the tire pressure right, drive slowly... The break in isn't nearly as important as some think it is. Nowadays these engines are so tight, setting the rings and such isn't as much of a concern. Lexus says its 1000 miles, then they'll have you come in for the 1000 mile/30 day check and they'll do an oil change etc. The salesman will go over all of that when you take delivery of the car.
  8. The Platinum edition rims are 16 inch, the tag has got to be wrong. Odd. I know because I considered puttting theese rims on my car. Also yes, in 2000 16s became standard.
  9. LOL, even us twentysomethings have our senior moments ;)
  10. Agree, stop and go driving is MUCh harder on the engine than speed.
  11. Yes Its entirely possible that they all come with AVS in California.
  12. The windshield wiper will DEFINATELY scratch over time. Get yourself a California Water Blade, same idea, just nice soft sillicone.
  13. Welcome to the site!
  14. Like I've said, power in the ES isn't a priority at all. Its never going to be fast. The RX is accessable and its all new...
  15. LOL, senior moment ;)
  16. Speed isn't bad for a car, its good to blow out the carbon and such.
  17. Not without a LOT of custom fab work because nav was never availiable for that generation ES. The stock system is really hard and expensive to retrofit into a car, even something like an LS that has the nav system as an option. Lots of wiring and electronics work to do. They make aftermarket systems like aftermarket stereo head units. It replaces the current radio face with a screen, or sometimes they have a pop out, flip up screen.
  18. It very well may be governed at 138 because of the ULEV rating, the LS430 is governed at 138.
  19. Only 225? People gonna raise hell...
  20. Its 15k per year, 15 cents per mile over. Actually you can roll more miles into the lease at inception and save. The extra 5k per year would only be anputher $15 a month or so. My dad leases cars with 30k per year. You can set the mileage anywhere you want.
  21. Actually "Lexus" is used everywhere but Japan. Only in Japan are the Lexus models sold as Toyotas, and they wont be for long. Lexus is debuting there as well. I think they did an AWESOME job on the refresh, I like it more each time I see it.
  22. Here three more shots, one in black two in silver: Whats everyone think? I think they really made some nice alterations, got the car lookin really good again!
  23. Yeah, you would think that it would be reversed... Odd. Why dont you try driving another RX330 and see if it does the same thing.
  24. Letting the water dry is not a good idea, as water from your home has mineral deposits and when it drys it will etch the paint. I use: 1 Leaf blower 1. California Water Blade www.californiawaterblade.com 1. Big Microfiber Waffle Weave Towel www.pakshak.com First i use the leaf blower to blow all the water out of the crevices, grille etc. Then I use the CWB to squeegee all the water off the car Then I use the MF towel to go aound and wipe up anything thats left. Voila, perfectly dry car. One trick for you sk, is take the nozzle off the hose, and let the water run over each panel from the top, let is sheet all the way down. When you take the hose off that panel, it'll be dry. I do promise you though, that after washing and rinsing well, theres no dirt left in the water ;)
  25. Nope in 98 the GS was all new, the 98 and the 00 are exactly the same car. In 01 they changed the grille shape, but its still chrome underneath.
