My 97 does this also intermittently. However mine has been diagnosed. According to Lexus it is the IAC valve that causes this problem. $240 part plus $200.00 labor. I had mostly run Mobil 89 octane in my ES in the last 4 months. Which by the way are my first months with car. I have been recently running Union 76 89 octane without MTBE. Have not really had the problem since although I do not believe the problem is solved just a bit postponed.

This is my first Lexus. I purchased her early in June this year. It was very hard deciding what to buy. My final choices were a Black with gray interior 1991 LS400 with 89000 miles or a Green with sage interior 1997 ES 300 with same mileage. Simply due to age and the care the previous owners put into these vehicles I chose the ES300. It was the hardest auto buying decision I ever made. I must admit I was partial to size and status of the V8 LS400. However due to time restrictions I chose the ES300 it was just a little bit cleaner and a lot more perk in the take off. Both awesome cars and I do love my new ES300 but sometimes I long for the extra room the LS would have given me being almost six feet four inches tall.I lurked this forum and the CL forum all May looking for answers and I must say this is a great forum.

Yes please some one with Es 300 brake expertise please answer this. I am having a very similar problem. I just had my 90k service and ever since it seems when ever I am driving over 45mph and I hard brake the keeps movinh although slowing. The brake pedal just goes down halfway and stops. No matter how much harder I press nothing changes. The car just eventually stops. Very weird and kinda scary. I am new to this forum and must say I enjoy very much. I have been an everyday lurker since around May. I purchased my first Lexus this past June.
