90- On the LS a misbalanced wheel can cause a very nasty prounounced vibration ;) And the 90 and the 93 are the same style, same body. In fact the 93 is supposed to be the most reliable LS...

Yeah but its nowhere near as smooth as an LS400, nor does it have as many components. Problem with the LS is if anything is the least bit misaligned you're going to feel it. I would start with a wheel balance and rotation. Just because the tires are new doesn't mean they aren't out of round, my dad had a set on his 98, Dunlops, that they never could get balanced properly. You also don't know how the Lexus vs the Honda were treated, 14 years is a long time...

Unfortunately theres nothing you can do about it except try using different brands of gas. The smell will be worse in the winter as for some reason sulfer content in the gas is worse in the winter. It has something to do with the way the system is designed, and apparently its a problem on other manufacturer's cars as well. Don't yell at your dealers, there isn't anything they can do. BUT I HAVE THE ANSWER! I was sitting at a red light downtown, smelling the sulfer as I do every other day or so since December and I saw an ad for BP gas, "LOW SULFER CONTENT!" I figured what the hell and gave it a try. Now I'm on my second tank and the sulfer smell is 100% gone. So, try BP gas and see if it works for you, seems to be working for me!

Well, they're frustrated about brand new Lexus, yours is 14 years old. There are any number of things that can cause a vibration on a car that old, worn bushings, bad shocks, bad springs, bent wheels, bent driveshaft, tranny mounts, engine mounts any number of things. They are REALLY sensitive to misbalanced wheels, I'd start there... They're also really sensitive to tires and need a good round high quality tire to get the smooth ride...

Try ebay, they're all over the place.

QEW does everything he says it does, I use it too. TOG isn't a sales rep, he's just a detailing enthusiast, he's actually a member at the Autopia detailing community. I definately reccomend QEW... The MrClean product is completely different, its simply a hose add on. According to people that have used it for 10 years its very easy on waxes and polymers, I can see no problem.

American-Stitches prices are actually very reasonable, Lexus charges over $1500 for a wood/leather steering wheel. $450 isn't bad at all, keep in mind they're hand forming and finishing the wood, and re-hand stitching the leather... $150 for the shifter knob is very reasonable also, again, they're re-upholstering the knob by hand. You're the first person I've ever heard say their prices were unreasonable...

One thing I'd like to suggest, get some "Stoner's Trim Shine" or "Stoners More Shine Less time" or basically any aerosol tire dressing and spray the wheel wells real good. Nothing makes a car look better and newer than well dressed wheel wells. Do this before you do your polishing or QDing as it may overspray onto the paint, but it will come right off. Its part of my wash regimen. Dont get it on the tire treads! Wash Dry (or QEW) Dress wheel wells and tires Quick Detail entire car Clean windows That way it will always look like it just rolled off the truck.

I personally think the best thing you can do for the interior is to add a wood/leather steering wheel and shift knob, I love the way they look and the way they feel. Check out www.american-stitches.com

Oh, I called another Lexus dealer that quoted me $160 for the "mini service" and Toyota quoted me $98 so I figured the 60 bucks was worth the loaner... I called my dealer, and my business was only worth $20 to them (they offered $200) so they can go screw

Well I think that goes for anything that is presented in a forum like this, it should always be backed up by a reliable source before its taken as truth, all we can offer is our personal experience, which is all we've offered... UCF- I did some research and found that also, I also found (which I thought was interesting) is they cannot repair the windshield unless it becomes invisible by Maryland law, the windshield must be replaced...

Every dealership has a "Customer Satisfaction Manager". And the $230 was NOT a synthetic oil change. The way its so expensive is its a "mini service" that includes tire rotation and lots of "checks"

Its a legal precedent, somebody vs State Farm Insurance co. An insurance company must use original equipment parts when repairing a vehicle if the owner specifies it, and an insurance company may not dictate where said repairs must be completed. Its only 4 or 5 years old, and there is a statute of limitations on how old the car can be, I just dont remember how old that is. It does include windshields though.

Its GoodnClean from the Autopia forums ;) monarch- First of all, I doubt that the Toyota oil is anything special, its common practice simply to get bulk oil and label it, there's absolutely no reason to use the Toyota oil over a high quality oil, dino or synthetic. Thats like saying you should only let a Lexus dealer put gas in your car because their gas is specifically designed for the car. My feeling of it is, especially on the ES where the oil sludging is a problem, why not use a good synthetic? Its really not that much more expensive in the grand scheme of things, and if it makes you feel better? Hell, maybe it'll even do some good.

Welcome to the club! Yeah you can use synthetic oil, I use Mobil 1, just use a genuine Toyota oil filter (they're the best) and you'll be set. As for the repair manual, I'd keep looking for a 99, the 00s are slightly different. As for the major service, either call a Toyota dealer or find an independent shop that works on Toyota/Lexus Good luck!
