  1. A member contacted me concerned because of the warn buttons he saw in his profile information, he felt he had been singled out because he was the only one with these buttons. This is NOT the case. Every member has these buttons, the reason it seems to a member like he or she is the only one is because you cannot see other member's buttons and warn level, only your own. To us managers, moderators, and admins we can see EVERYBODY's warn buttons and levels, I never realized that individual members could not see the buttons at least. I apologize on the part of the administration for not making that clear. The warn buttons are a part of the new software bundle that was installed a few months ago and since that time have only been used once, by me, to stop a spammer from posting on the site. So far other than that there has been no need to use them which speaks volumes about the quality of our membership. So those who were concerned can relax, NOBODY on the site has a warn level higher than 0%, and if a member were to be warned warned the system automatically sends them a PM and an email and explains why. I'll leave these threads open so that we can answer your questions. -Steve

  6. I actually think it looks a lot more different than the Camry when compared to older models of ES... And the ES and the Camry only share 20% of their components :D
  7. I wasn't at first either, but when you spend time around it it really grows on you, I think its one of the best looking sedans Lexus has ever made. The color makes a big difference too.
  8. Alan's right, you're not going to be able to find one on the east coast with AVS, its just not availiable. I also have the Nav/Lev and love it. A nav system is the kind of thing you never thought you'd use until you get one, and then you'll never want another car without one. You'll love it! As for break in, just go easy for the first 1000 miles.
  9. With a pro install they can make it look good and stock, the stock one is going to be way too expensive...
  10. Unfortunately thats not too uncommon from Lexus. It WAS covered, they just decided to stop covering it. Just like you used to get one free nav update but not anymore. Now that they don't do it, nobody has "any idea what we're talking about".
  11. Have you tried driving in ECT PWR mode in D? I always found that got rid of the hesitation on my dad's old 98.
  12. I'm probably going to be going with the Continental ContiPremiumContact on mine. The MXV4 is an excellent tire, but WAY overpriced.
  13. I've heard that the dealer will just replace it, but we had a member try it and get shut down... The wheel costs over $2000 from Lexus. It takes 3 weeks to make one
  14. You can use anything on the wood you would use on the paint. I use Pledge, wax, sealant, Plexus, several things. Just make sure to use a microfiber towel so as not to scratch it, the wood scratches easily. And actually "Armor All Will Crack Your Dash" is really just an urban myth. That may have been true a few years back when they used solvents, but Armor All is now water based and 100% safe, it will not damage anything.
  15. Meguiars is sending me some free microfiber bonnets for me to try buffing the wax off, but I just do it by hand and use the buffer to apply. The scratch X should work ;)
  16. It also has to do with season. In winter they oxygenate the gas differently and it creates more excess sulfer. As summer approaches it wont be a big deal, the smell will go away. Do you have Sunoco? Sunoco is supposed to be a low sulfer gas also...
  17. Its not uncommon for the wood to crack with age. In fact its a huge problem on 98-00 wood steering wheels. I doubt its cracked all the way through as the wood is very thin and mated to a plastic base.
  18. The options vary as to what section of the country the car was sold. For instance on all Florida and some CA cars there are no heated seats in any Lexus. Basically its just an appearance package, new wheels and badges, body colored trim as opposed to two tone, maple wood, and royale leather. All Lexus leather is matte (leather when untreated will buff up and get shiny with age) but the Platinum's has a textured surface on the insets.
  19. My dad almost got an LS in 1990, but got a Lincoln Continental instead. He came around though ;) What I find interesting is the fact that the average buyer of the LS was way lower back then. The majority of the respondents said they were 30-49 years old, today the average LS owner is 61 or 62. Also back then only 69% of the drivers were male when today that figure is around 90%. Interesting changes...
  20. Basically only about 20% of the ES is shared with the Camry.
  21. Black on black is also pretty rare...
  22. No if you can prove you changed the oil at least once a year and you have sludging they will pay for the repair.
  23. I've never been overly impressed with the X5 or any BMW to be honest, I think they're a little overrated.
  24. No question they'll eventually come around, they always do.
  25. I think the server must have dropped some posts, I'm missing some from a few other threads.
