  1. I find this thread interesting, it really shows that all the whiz bang hypermileage tricks people do don't really net you a lot of MPG gain, which is what I always suspected. IMHO, drive normally for your and everyone else's safety. For instance, full stops at stop signs are the law for a reason :o 2003 ES300, 117,000 miles (owned since new) Always premium fuel Driving 40% highway, 60% city; moderate to aggressive driver Tires @ 30psi City MPG: 18.5-20 Highway MPG: 27 or so
  2. The trac system on the Lexus and on your Camry are pretty much the same thing... Have you talked to the dealer?
  3. Its going to be more than a facelift, Its going to be an all new vehicle. I think what they were saying is that its not going to be a radical departure from the previous RX as far as styling or shape goes. It will be an all new vehicle.
  4. I cast my vote for the front and rears vs only the fronts Rey!
  5. You can also replace the factory speakers and sub for surprisingly little money...
  6. I just noticed the tail pipes...straight off the LS460...
  7. Ah! Enough said.
  8. Yep, most places won't rent or loan you a car until you are 21 because their insurance won't cover any loss or liability for a driver of your age. There are a couple states where thats illegal, and some rental places carry coverage and charge a very high surecharge...
  9. It has to be that way for the vehicle to be street legal in the US, its illegal for any video playback to be operating in the driver's line of sight when the vehicle is in motion.
  10. If you shut off the speed sensor then yes, you would loose inertial guidance when out of contact with the GPS signal.
  11. First of all you have to realize that there is no way the dealer would notice corrosion on the inside of the rims when doing routine maintenance. You'd have to dismount the tires to see the inside of the rims, and they don't do that routinely. You also have to realize the dealer does not decide what they can cover under warranty. The vehicle is out of the waranty period, and its up to the Lexus regional rep whether or not they will cover it. The dealer gets paid whether the warranty covers something or the customer pays, if the warranty is in play Lexus pays the dealer for the work. Now understanding this, you should not be angry with the dealer, you should try and work with the dealer to get Lexus to cover the repair (which they should and I bet they ultimately will do). You have to stay calm and professional, but very stern and unyielding in your expectation that Lexus should cover the repair. Ask to meet with the regional rep in person and make your case to him, the car is 2 months out of warranty, this is something that has never happened to you with any car you've ever owned and although you would like to remain a loyal customer of Lexus and of Lexus of Sarasota, if you're stuck with the bill for this repair you won't be able to do that. They'll cover it. Other option is to just buy four (or however many are leaking) RX330 wheels on eBay and replace them yourself, that'll cost a lot less than $2,000 or even $900. This is an entirely different situation. Those must have been aftermarket chromed wheels. Thats very common, the finish starts to bubble and then they start to loose air. No reason Lexus should cover failure of aftermarket chromed rims, and your vehicle is significantly older than the OP's vehicle and longer our of warranty.
  12. You can just have them do the 3M product on that one area of the bumper. I bet it would be cheaper.
  13. Plenty of SUVs are faster than the IS250. The RX350 costs a good bit more too. The IS250 is slower than the ES350 too... Actually the IS250 is slower than the ES300 & ES330... I don't understand the OP's issue...
  14. The radar cruise is extremely rare and is really only a special order option. The DVD playback is only designed to work when the car is stopped...for obvious reasons. Not a whole lot you can do about that.
  15. He does know his stuff, and we put up with a lot from him for years, far longer than they did on a certain other Lexus forum which shall remain nameless...but finally it was too much and we had to send him on his way.
  16. He won't be able to read it, but what the hell Happy birthday wwest.
  17. You might want to ask to drive another ES350, a demo or a loaner and see if it does the same thing...
  18. I've always wondered that too, but for some reason none of the manufacturers that lockout nav functions when moving do that...probably since it would be easy to circumvent the issue by putting aheavy object in the passenger seat.
  19. Can you describe the shake a little better? Is it a jutter, do you feel it in the seat?
  20. Looks very sharp, I see Benz S550 in the fenders...and unfortunately Saturn Aura in the front end...
  21. Ditto on the winter tires, they're a must on any LS driven regularly in the snow.
  22. Navigation is an option on the LS just as its an option on the Civic...I don't see your point? Navigation is available on the ES at $20k less than the LS, but that doesn't mean the LS is automatically going to have it. The LS is significantly more car than the Civic, whether it has navigation or not.
  23. You should get a printout after the alignment that shows the specs, where the car was before the alignment, and where it was after. I've never had one come back after having new rubber installed (bear in mind, we're talking about 30-35k miles) that was not out of alignment... If I'm at a certain point of misalignment at 35k miles that may not be causing abnormal wear, where will I be at 55k miles halfway through the life of my new tires if I don't do an alignment at 35k? I might just be to the point where poor alignment has shortened the life of my new tires. Tires are getting more expensive...alignments aren't.
  24. Nope, thats just for the tires...unshipped. Usually I can do better with a local tire guy but that doesn't seem to be the case this time. Here's my breakdown: Tires: $500 Shipping: $37.34 Installation (Incl disposal, stems, etc) $66 Total: $603.34 When I look at any installer these tires are $175 a peice installed bringing the total to $700, plus tax which would bring them to $742. I'm sure that I could get them to match the cost from TireRack...but then I'd still have to pay the tax... I've used TireRack before and have been really satisfied, the past few times I've spent a little more to buy tires locally so I could return them if I didn't like the ride.
  25. Why would I do that?
