  1. No problem, its probably fine. You know what the Lexus dealer would have charged for that repair without the warranty? Mine told me...$1500.
  2. The Subaru Outback is really nice. I have a client with a brand new 2010, he likes it a lot. They travel in it extensively. The Saab SUV is just a rebadged Chevy TrailBlazer...skip it. Its because of the price point I think. I think people have a hard time spending $60,000 on a used car personally, whereas with an ES spending $35k or so is less of a concern. I also think a lot of buyers lease these cars north of $50k, and leasing on the pre-owned car is no cheaper than the new car, so they just lease a new one instead. I think a used LS is probably one of the "best buys" out there in the auto industry.
  3. 30k miles seems too soon to me for the brake fluid change. Is the fluid still good and red in the resevoir?
  4. The rear main seal. I had a rear main seal leak repaired under the extended warranty at about 85k miles. Yeah take it back to the dealer...it might just be a pool of fluid somewhere from the repair.
  5. Yeah we're the same region... Purely Lexus.com, haven't made it to the dealer yet...
  6. Really? Did you talk to the dealer? I know, the panoramic roof and the ML audio. Thats going to be a expensive option then. You can probably get $3-4k off an ES, if the UL is $44k and it has to be special ordered with a wait...it'll be MSRP probably making it $8k more. I like the UL...but I wouldn't pay $8k more for it...
  7. http://www.lexus.com/models/ES/ 2010 is up! Looks good. All the photos are just of the '09 Photoshopped, kinda disappointing. Also no UL availability on the build your own for my zipcode...fully loaded with Nav, etc is just over $40k...lots of car for that. Also one thing we overlooked, LPS is now accessible from the nav screen... I'll hit the dealer tomorrow and see if they have one for me to drive...
  8. Lots of social situations happen in school... I also am not a fan of a year round school year though.
  9. Sounds like MB's ceramiclear.
  10. Its the short term leases. I know, pre-owned LS460s are a steal! I saw an LS460L with 20k miles for $54k...thats an $85k car!
  11. They've been using the hooks since the beginning though...that can't be the only problem...
  12. Yeah we need pictures! You're the site's first 2010 owner!
  13. But thats an issue with any car, aftermarket mats. The new ones already have spiked backs? Very strange... I can't wait to see what the issue is...
  14. Don't hold the button down...just press it.
  15. I think the issue comes when people don't use the two hooks below the front of the driver's seat. I have often thought about that since the OEM Lexus mats don't have any traction nubs underneath. The same mats are on my own older ES though so i wonder why it is not included... Carwahses for instance never re-install those hooks...
  16. Oh lord...one VW product in my life was enough. VW/Audis have got to be about the most expensive vehicles to maintain out there. Super expensive diagnostic equipment makes independent repair options limited and service is very expensive for VWs....and even moreso for Audis. I would absolutely never buy an Audi...
  17. I've had numerous sets of the LTX M/S on an Explorer. Despite the treadwear figure they are VERY long lasting tires. In fact I had one set for almost 100,000 miles and could have gone longer if it wasn't for sidewall cracking due to age. That tire is probably overkill for the RX though...I'd choose the Latitude.
  18. I personally like having one hatch in the family...so I personally wouldn't buy another sedan if I were you. I'd pass on the Minivan without kids probably. Maybe...but in getting more features for less, you may wind up compromising quality and refinement. You should drive one. They are INSANE to drive, its like driving a sports car...thats an SUV. If I were buying one of those SUVs...the FX would be right up at the top of my list. The styling grows on you too...The Murano is also very nice...but not as fun to drive as the FX. I totally forgot about the Murano. I wouldn't buy an MB because of the long term reliability and repair costs. That said, I would lease an MB. It wouldn't be a vehicle I'd buy and drive for 200,000 miles like a Lexus though lets put it that way. Have you driven the RX? The RX is a nice vehicle...and the new one has a LOT of bells and whistles.
  19. Lookin good! Couple suggestions, the Meg's 26, is that paste or liquid? Reason I ask is if its the liquid it has a lot of cleaners in it and probably removed the Jetseal underneath it... All by hand? Wow lots of work.
  20. Anybody in the ES section who says the car cannot be put into neutral when driving is wrong.
  21. What is most important to you in a vehicle. If you could build your perfect vehicle, what would it be? Do you need to tow? And if so, what? Any use for AWD functionality? Do you need/want to haul anything? How old are your kids? Do you have kids? Only looking to buy new? If you have kids...IMHO you cannot beat a minivan. The Sienna is a great van, I personally prefer the Honda Odyssey though, although its getting a little long in the tooth. Can't go wrong with either one though. Your desire for good gas mileage does away with any of the "traditional" SUVs like the Tahoe anyways. If you really are against a Minivan and you want an SUV I'd stick with a crossover. This would be my list: Luxury: Lexus RX350 Cadillac SRX Infiniti FX35 Mercedes ML350 (I don't think I would buy a Mercedes though. More mainstream: Toyota Highlander (I REALLY like the new Highlander, and you could even buy the Hybrid and be in your range.) Ford Flex (very cool vehicle) Toyota Venza
  22. If Lexus does it it has a 12 month 12k mile warranty...I would do as cduluk suggested personally.
  23. I wouldn't trade an RX in for one either... If you drive mostly highway the hybrid probably isn't worth it for you... I'm not taking anything too seriously, it just struck me like you care a little bit much what others think vs what you think. If thats not the case then I was mistaken.
  24. If it helps, the system doesnt work like you think it does. It only unlocks the door when you put your hand on the door handle, not when you walk up and it can be set to unlock all the doors, or just the one you grab the handle of. You will LOVE the smart key and wonder how you ever drove a car without it. It won't let you walk away with it running either.
  25. Have you looked at the 2010 Prius and driven one? IMHO the styling is MUCH improved from the 04-09 car, especially the package V with the 17" wheels. The interior is much better and more comfortable too. Even if they keep the supply low to keep demand up...the unit sales are still there. The thing sells over 100,000 units a year...not bad. Thats really not true. Bear in mind, the effectiveness of the hybrid system really depends on how its driven. if driven conservatively, a Camry Hybrid can get mid-30MPG numbers. Same is true of the RXh...and GSh...and would be for the ESh if there were one. You had other options anyways, the Honda Civic Hybrid is nice, gets good mileage, and is more traditional looking. Why do you even take the crap. I just laugh along with them and move on. I don't have anything to prove to anybody else and niether should you. You like your RX, its a wonderful vehicle and plenty of people must agree because they sell very well. If someone wants to make fun of you for it, laugh along with them and tell them "its a great car, I love it" and move on. Don't let it bother you. Even your wife...I hate the Prius and you see what my wife bought...a Prius. Its her car...and its your car. If you want a Prius...buy a Prius. If she doesn't want to ride with you...she can meet you there. She'll come around. The HS I have a feeling is designed to be quirky and futuristic looking to appeal to buyers who want to move up from the Prius...
