  1. The pdf file is exactly what I needed. Thank you so much for having done this research for me. I have done minor mechanical work before so I am not afraid of doing this now that I know how to do it properly. I am very grateful for your assistance. I may even replace all the red lenses for those nice new clear ones. Sure improves the looks. And I like the idea of drilling a small hole at the bottom of the fixture to drain any water accumulation. Very good info. I saved it all and printed it for future use. Wishing you a great day.
  2. Thanks again for your reply. This is what it says to do: "Remove 3 - 4 screws on fender cover close to side marker light. Pull fender cover out a bit for you to use your other hand to reach side marker light. By twisting on one direction and here you go the light out. Replace new bulb and replace everything on reverse order. Problem is, I do not see the 4 screws they talk about. There is a plastic cover inside the wheel well that hooks at the top with 2 hooks and is held on with plastic snaps. But certainly no screws. Before I pry off these snaps which will likely brake, I want to be sure. I'll take a closer look as this seems to be the only place to access the fixture. Thanks again.
  3. Thank you for your reply. I looked underneath and thee is nothing showing at all. I looked inside the luggage compartment, removed the cover and all I see is a large electric cable going through a hole. No evidence of a light fixture to untwist or pull out. It leaves only the wheel well area to access it. But what I read on line does not match what I am seeing there. I have not tried pulling the plastic lens off for fear of braking it. I know on some other vehicles this is how it is done.
  4. Hello. This has probably been asked but I cannot find a thread. How do I replace the driver side rear marker bulb on my 2002 RX300 ? Does the plastic cover pry off ? I do not want to try until I hear back from someone who knows. I looked on line and read about removing 2 bolts in the wheel well. I do not see bolts there. It cannot be that complicated. I've included a photo. Hoping to hear back. Thank you, wishing you a great day.
  5. Good day to all. Not sure if this belongs here, but I need to ask this question. My Lexus (RX300) needs one new tire to replace the one that went flat and cannot be repaired. The other three tires are evenly used, about half worn out. I contacted Tirerack and they have a tire BUT warned me against placing a new tire on a vehicle where the other tires are not the same age. They say it will cause harm to the drive train. They mention that I must get the new tire "scrubbed down" where the groove depth is the same as the other tires on the vehicle. Have you heard of this ? Right now I am using the spare tire which is brand new but not the same type and I want four of the same tires. Will there be drive train problems running one new tire with three used tires that probable still have 40,000 miles left on them ? Thanks, have a great day. R. May
  6. Yes, one has to wonder who they really are! I forward all these nigerian type emails to the "abuse@" providers and they deal with them by canceling their email priviledges. They just resurface the same day under a new name. Another place I forward these to is "wafl@phonebusters.com" It is a Canadian internet police website that goes after these guys. Anyway, you have a great day. R. May
  7. Actually, I'll post the email I received and the full headers. If you can do something about it, great. You may delete this if I unknowingly brake a rule by posting this. Now remember, I had asked questions on Lexus car jacks and someone had responded with going with bottle jacks as they are superior. This is theonly site where I discussed this, SO I know the spammer was here recently. Thanks. Renoir. ------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Sir/Madam, I'm Mr Paul Smith and I would like to Order some Bottle Jack.. I want to know the types that you carry in stock as well as the price ranges for me to advice the quantity I desire. however I want this units to be shipped to Ghana West Africa and I want to know the types of credit card you admit for payment. 8. Hi. I don't know where to post this and it is important especially for folks selling and buying from this Lexus website. Today I received one of those nigerian letters requesting information about my credit card. The "spammer" was trying to buy a Lexus wheel jack from me but first needed to know the name on my credit card. I had placed a message here about a faulty RX300 jack and received responses. Someone is obviously looking over these posts and emailing others requesting very personal info. I've forwarded that email with the full headers to "abuse@gmail" and also to another internet police site to deal with that spammer. He had my email adress, and got the rest of the info from here. All he needed was my credit card info! I'm posting this here to warn everyone about what has happened to me so that you can be on your toes especially if you are looking to buy something here. Be very careful who you respond to before making the transction. Kind regards to ll. R. May
  9. I have replaced the original scissors jack on my RX300 with the bottle jack that came with my Nissan Pathfinder. It is much sturdier and wider at the top then what Walmart or Canadian Tire sells. I am truly surprised that no safety expert caught that poorly designed jack Lexus uses. You'd think Lexus would not disregard the safety of it's clients this way, but it does. I've emailed Lexus twice on this and there has been no response.
  10. Thank you for your reply. I did just that! After looking over the original jack I decided there was no point spending $120.00 for another unreliable jack. I have an old Nissan Pathfinder and it has a bottle jack. I've put that in my Lexus since the problem arose. I used it on the Lexus to find new "locations" to place the jack at. It works front and back extremely well, so, yes, I'm with you on that and my search is over. I had already placed a couple of cut 4x6 pieces of wood in the trunk. I'm glad I posted this question as it appears to be a safety issue with Lexus jacks! I wonder why this has not come up before! Thanks for the responses, have a great day where ever you are. RM
  11. Hello. I'm wondering if anyone has had the same problem with their 2002 RX300 wheel jack! I used mine once to change a flat tire on level ground and placed it properly on level ground. It twisted! It twisted and lucky for me another jack type of jack was available to lift the vehicle back up enough to remove the twisted mess. Has anyone had this problem before ? I dropped a line at Lexus USA and no replies! I need to replace it but dealers want over $120 for one, That much for a simple car jack ? Has anyone got a used spare one that will suit my RX300 ? I'll buy it off you. Thanks. R. M. renoir911@yahoo.ca
  12. Hello. I purchased my first Lexus in Florida, a beautiful RX300 AWD in mint condition. I drove it back to Alberta, Canada where I live and loved the ride. However it came with Bridgestone tires that are poor quality and I need to change them soon. Where I live, we get snow in the winter, several inches in one dump at times. Summers are hot! I'm looking at Michelin tires because I've always had Michelin without any problems and excellent grip. I am looking at Michelin Latitude Tour, or Michelin LTX M&S. Having a tough time deciding as the Latitude offers a softer, quieter ride. I'd like something that looks good on the vehicle, but also is fit for the conditions. I do not drive my vehicles hard. This RX300 is an AWD. Your thoughts and ideas, even if it includes another tire manufacturer are welcome. This is my first time on this forum. Have a great day. R. May renoir911@yahoo.ca
