  1. I'm enjoying this one actually....lol Toys is bringing a slightly different 'mix' (yes pun intended) to this oil thread. ;) I'm intrigued & entertained! B) :whistles:
  2. Which Toyo's? And yes, Michelin's are notorious for being one of the most expensive brands you can buy. ;)
  3. That happened at what speed? B) I think the top speed of a 'factory' ES is in the neighbourhood of around 135 - 145 MP/H range however (governed).
  4. I doubt very many others have been much higher that yours on regular highways.....for fear of loosing their licence. Any members take their ES to the track? B) 110 MP/H here & it was also not for very long......had alot more 'pedal' to go too! ;)
  5. Last time you did a major tune up? Fuel system flush (injectors & such)? Throttle body cleaning? Other than that, sounds like your good to go cam. B)
  6. Agreed Toys, the WeatherTech's are good......just curious what other members might have. B)
  7. Best suggestion would be to e-mail or call Optima directly. I use to have an optima brochure with the correct part numbers, but I can't find it. The website won't give me the correct part number for my 2001 ES either.
  8. Highway is easier on an engine than constant stop & go city driving. B)
  9. Good lord man! So what will the end result be? 5W 25.5 oil? lol ;)
  10. Who here has winter mat's for their ES & what brand are they (if you know....WeatherTech, no name, etc) & where did you get them? I tried to get a beige set of 'Lexus' winter mat's, but the Lexus dealer(s) said they are only available in black (at least in Canada) Not exactly a great colour combo considering the salt in the winter. I like & have used WeatherTech classic premium mats in the past (had a grey set for my Maxima, but now they are seeing duty in my wife's Forester as they are a perfect match) so I have them on my short list, but before I make that decision, I thought I would at least ask. Not intrested in anything Canadian Tire sells btw as most of their mat's are simply garbage. If anybody has any other suggestions, I'd appreciate hearing from you. B)
  11. B) In & around the city of Toronto? lol Not a chance bud. Most of the time I could probably get away with a P speed rating (93 MP/H) around here ;) H speed is good for 130 MP/H. :)
  12. Excellent Army! B) I personally have never been a fan either of Kuhmo's either. ;)
  13. I agree....the trees looks almost like it's standing still.....you would think it would be just a green blur.
  14. SOrry lexusfreak, that we couldnt get together this thanksgiving. Im assigned to the Quick Reaction Force for 4-31 inf reg. so i have to be within 4 hours of the base or inside the state of NY, whichever is closer. in other words, im on call. :( maybe another weekend. ← No worries Army.......I am sure we will meet at some point down the road, perhaps in the spring or summer when we don't have to sorry about the bad weather as much. B)
  15. That was the point I was trying to make actually.....thanks bart! ;) Wasen't trying to start an arguement on OEM vs. Aftermarket sk (nor do I think monarch was talking about sparkplugs)........I thought monarch's 'analogy' & opinion of autoparts stores compared to the dealer was a little too general is all... that's why I tried to narrow it down to the ridculous with the tune up parts comment.......keep in mind, originally it was about oil filters here.........that's why I said what I did. ;) But as most of these threads go......it has once again got a tad out of hand.
  16. Happy Belated Thanksgiving  ← Well thank's dc. :)
  17. Lol sk, couldn't have said it better. B)
  18. Happy Thanksgiving to the American members :) ........we Canuck's celebrated our Thanksgiving last month. ;)
  19. Your kidding me right monarch? That's intresting considering the fact I just picked up several tune up parts for my wife's Forester at one of those American auto part stores your talking about & appear to be knocking.......& you know what? The parts were NGK & they said 'Made in Japan'! :whistles: You know why I bought them at the 'American' (or Canadian....same thing) auto parts store & not the dealer? Simple the dealership wanted about 25 - 30% more for the exact same parts. So are you saying I have risked & degrade the potential reliability & durability of the Forester because I didn't get them directly from the dealership?
  20. Same here. B)
  21. There are better products to use over oem, if you want to spend the cash, the sky is the limit. But at the same time, nothing wrong with oem....it's all good. ;)
  22. So what are you saying ? Use oem $17.00 filters and dont use k&n 45.00 filters?I am just trying to learn what replacement parts are best to use on my car! I dont have an opiniuon or a care either way just what is best and how often it needs to be replaced or re-oiled whatever. ← In normal conditions, a K & N should be re-oiled every 50,000 miles....if you live in really dusty conditions, sooner......this should be on the FAQ on the K & N website. B)
  23. zin, Debates on air, oil & oil filters are never ending on this site lol Like I am talking huge threads! It just comes down to what you like using personally & what your comfortable with. There really is no wrong answer per se........all the products are of very good quality & 'brand name'. Me, if you did a search, you will notice that I use to use Mobil 1 with a M1 filter.......I have since switched to Amsoil ASL 5W 30, along with the Amsoil filter (longer drain intervals for both over M1 & have done the same in my wife's 'new' 2003 Forester). I also use a K & N air filter.......this is my 3rd in as many cars & I have never experenced any problems with it......like someone mentioned, the good thing about K & N is it should be your last filter you buy.......just follow the instruction to the letter when it comes to cleaning & re-oiling.....don't saturate the thing with oil or chances are you will have problems. ;) I have either made your decision more complicated or more simple......I hope it was the ladder. Good luck with your choices! B) Now I am going to throw you a 'curve' http://www.performanceoiltechnology.com/Amsoilvs.Mobil1.htm
  24. Sharp looking ride, no question about it! B)
