  1. This might be a silly question for some but..... I saw a Motortrend video clip on CL about the new ES......they showed under the hood & it has most of the engine compartment covered with a black plastic material......which I have seen sooem automakers use recently......what's the deal what that? for appearance? Appearance for what & for who? Personally I like lifting the hood & seeing all the components. That's a huge pain in the butt when a tech needs to get at certain components......I realize & am sure that stuff easily clicks off to gain access.......but there is really no need to do it anyway! :chairshot: Looks like crap. :whistles:
  2. Ummmmmm what? What does that have to do with the price of the car? OMG! Your kidding? My parents had a 1976 Maverick.........it was Factory Orange! I swear! :D You couldn't loose that car in a crowded parking if you tried. B) Never mind sw......I will assume you were responding about the brown colour. ;)
  3. My guess is $42-45k for the fully loaded Ultra Luxury model. What is the current 2006 ES MSRP? That sounds a tad high imo sw. That's usually the prices in Canadian $$$ for that car.
  4. Sounds like it can be patched (or plugged).......if it was a bad puncture & on the sidewall.....then I would recommend to replace the tire. I wouldn't worry about it........a routine repair. B)
  5. Correct.....the TPT's (touring performance tire) & the TT's (premium all seasons) are in different categories. Enjoy Rose! B)
  6. Where abouts on the tire specifically is it?
  7. Overall I have to agree.......I am more impressed but the actual 'launch' photos than the spy shots of just the last week or so.......& in that blue color......it's getting me all hot & bothered lol. :D I got an e-mail from Lexus.ca today.......they are inviting me to another Lexus plant tour! B)
  8. I am not sure what you mean by "resistance to breakdown at lower temperatures" with relation to the sidewall stiffness? If you mean loosing air pressure, the sidewall stiffness really has nothing to do with that.......all tires loose a small amount of air over time & more so in extreme cold.....that's why it is advised to check your tire pressures at least once a month if not more often. B)
  9. Is that blue we have seen in the pics the Blue Onyx or the Aquamarine Pearl?
  10. I've noticed a slightly softer ride with my Goodyear TT's (H speed rated) over my previous Toyo Proxes TPT's (V rated)......I prefer the H personally as I don't notice a huge difference in handling (the ES is no sports sedan no matter what tires you install to begin with).
  11. I liked the way you put that dc........neither would I. :)
  12. I noticed that too dc.....agreed. B) Anybody else thing the back end has at least some resemblance to the Acura TSX?
  13. Army, I'm not sure the laws & regulations in NY state......can you fight the ticket in court to try & get a lesser charge (do they have a 'point' system there?) or perhaps there was some kind of mistake on the ticket (granted a 'technicality......but it could be tossed & no charges stick). I had a speeding ticket in July 15, 2005 & am currently fighting it (I just got a notice of trial yesterday as a matter of fact........court date is Sept 12th, 2006! 14 months after I got the ticket........so much for a right to a speedy trial! ) Anyway.......the notice I got has my name spelled wrong, plus the 14 month time to get to trial.......I retained one of those traffic court reps so we shall see where this goes. Just a suggestion is all......I don't care about the money to hire someone......my main concern is my insurance as it was a 4 point ticket! :chairshot: Had a brain !Removed! that morning & the police officer was hidding behind a tree.....litterally a minute & a half from my Condo. :whistles: Get this.......I mentioned to my wife that morning I got a ticket (my first in 14 years) & she laughs and starts singing the song I fought the law, and the law won"! lmao
  14. Correction Army, the 60 series & higher (65 etc) are good for 60k miles.......the 55 & lower (50 etc....which is considered somewhat 'lower profile' at least) series are only good for 30k miles. ;)
  15. I love that blue colour! :D B) & thankfully........the tail lights look sharp (no orange inserts for the turn signals). Only thing I am having a problem with is the round center part of the dash. Of all the things Lexus did.......they are gonna have to use their 'mulligan' & fix that.......I thought the ES was suppose to mirror the LS?:whistles: Looks like an afterthought. <_< Not crazy about the glass roof feature personally......I'll stick with the regular moonroof. ;) After going through the 'peliminary' specs.......I see that body side mouldings are an accessory that is available......that should break up the slab sided (and high belt line) doors.
  16. Apparently this is also a good possibility..... http://www.lexus.com/autoshow & then click on live auto show cam for the unveiling.....we still have about 10 mins. B)
  17. Thats what I'm talking about! B) Only 90 minutes until the new ES is offically made public! :D
  18. Agreed, the Q 45 can't touch the LS......nice car to be sure, just on a different level. B)
  19. Welcome to the club tc! The only engine starting from 1992 - 2003 was a 3.0L V6 engine & that would have a timing belt....not chain. Does the previous owner have all service records for the car & was the timing belt changed? I beleive the belt is due to be changed at 90k. Generally speaking Lexus are very reliable vehicles if they were maintained correctly & not abused. Best advice is to do a search on here to see of any specific problems that relate to the 94 model year & I'm sure others will post who own, owned or have more knowledge of that year (I own a 2001 personally). Good Luck with your purchase......sounds like a nice ride. B)
  20. I'm more partial to the silver trim accents myself.
  21. Can you elaborate on that? B)
  22. I think the dash of the new Camry 'flows' better than the ES at least in the pics. It appears there is more storage space (sides of the lower middle part of the dash) too. B)
  23. What size do you need for your SC bhas?
  24. I thought that was the correct size actually
  25. My 2001 Just clocked over 103,000 kms (64,000 miles). It's being semi-stored over the winter because my wife & I have to finish her lease on her 2003 Focus ZX5 (Ford credit would not take the car back early) so we currently have 3 vehicles, including her 'new' Subaru Forester. B) Now that my work location has changed, I will be putting 1,600 kms (1,000 miles) per month on the car.....use to be only 400 km (about 250 miles) per month. There goes it's resale value lol.
