  1. Not sure bud, I could not find any specific information on the 'XSE' version of the MXV4's....nothing on tirerack & nothing on the Michelin website.
  2. Bren, I got about 60,000 miles out of them; then, they started wobbling like crazy sobs. I love that I don't have to tip-toe around in the rain anymore with my Goodrichs. I'll take a little more road noise for excellent wet traction! Not too shabby at all blake! B) Enjoy the new tires.
  3. That's an interesting way to attempt to sell cars!
  4. I'm not sure how they repair tires; I just drop them off and come back when they call me saying it's ready! LOL Here's a picture of what was probably the worse of my 4.... After a second one separated as bad as this one and refused to hold pressure, I had no choice but to get the car towed to WalMart and get the BFG put on there. As it turns out, they are very, very decent tires for the money, and I'm pretty happy. Wet and dry traction are excellent as is the ride. However, the noise could be better, but I half expected it since they have such a high tread rating (620....I think the Energys had only 400). How many miles did you get on those Michelins blake? B)
  5. Why do prices for this service vary so widely in different parts of the country? :(
  6. Thanks man. I was thinking about a 2000 just because of that same reason. Keep us posted & be patient in your search......I just love the back end of the 00 - 01 models......if I had to do it all over again, I'd do the same thing! B) I would also suggest getting the car with factory HID's. ;)
  7. The price seems a tad high imo......I agree, check maintenance history & let us know if the TB has already been replaced or not......if not, I'd pass on the car personally & look for something newer. B)
  8. Tune up done recently, including fuel filter? Could possibly be a problem with the fuel pump.
  9. Deal of the decade right there! :whistles:
  10. Excellent! B)
  11. Get the newest one you can afford 94......I suggest at least a 2000 because of the tail lights B) Try & get all service & maintenance records if possible. Watch out for the engine gel issue. Good Luck! B)
  12. Don't forget the fuel filter Toys. ;)
  13. I hear ya sw. B)
  14. If you so choose, you can also safely use Amsoil synthetic ATF which is compatible with all 3 you mention above. ;) Below is some more info. http://www.amsoil.com/StoreFront/atf.aspx
  15. But you have to understand, Lexus doesn't care about your opinion. They care about the opinion of the demographic they are marketing towards, people around 56 years of age with incomes around $150k who will buy the car new. THATS who'se opinion they care about, so you can't fault them for including features that demographic is interested in. The feeling is mutual, as long as they make a good looking car that I am intrested in with the features & options I enjoy, with the reliability one expects from Lexus I will be a Lexus customer......a pre-owned Lexus customer. B) I know they don't care about my opnion, again it dosen't mean anything to me. ;)
  16. I agree, see how the tranny starts shifting when the car has reached normal operating temp. But I would also suggest doing what toys has suggested..... If you decide to change all 100% of the fluid (as opposed to just a drain & fill which only replaces about 1/3 of the fluid) I would also have the tranny filter mesh screen cleaned (dosen't need replacement) a new tranny pan gasket (preventitive maintenance) & a new tranny plug washer installed. Use a top quality ATF fluid (I beleive the 96 ES requires Dexron III?....it will say in the owners manual....if you don't have one, contact Lexus head office directly & they will mail you one for FREE!). Good Luck! B)
  17. Be patient, that model will be available probably for the 2008 model year. B)
  18. The car starts fine remote starter aside?
  19. I've never driven on tires worse than the Bridgestone RE 92 or Firestone Firehawk GTA-02's personally.....anything other than dry conditions for either tire made for an adventure & the vast majority of owners who also had them on any vehicle agree with that statement. B)
  20. That wouldn't be a half bad idea actually......at least that feature would be functional. ;) I don't go buy demographics when purchasing my vehicles so that dosen't mean anything to me. And well if those certain folks that do meet that so called demographic & enjoy spending $120 per hour I say good luck with that.....I'll stick to my independent repair facility at half that labour rate.....as long as the engine cover can be removed is all that concerns me (I'll make shelving out of it). ;)
  21. Regardless, (that was just an example....I could probably write a novel about it actually) & I agree overall it's not much of an issue (although if I own one, it's coming off...I would assume the Lexus engineers were smart enough to incorporate that at least)......however, the look of the engine compartment is an eye sore, looks extremely cheap.......just what our vehicles need......more plastic. They are trying to solve a problem that never existed.......(another example here) I've been apart of these forums for over 2 years & almost 3,300+ posts now (many post in all forums).......never once have I heard a single complaint about the need to cover the engine compartment area for any reason. :whistles:
  22. I hope so! B) Sounds like automakers are running out of ideas with their vehicles.......so they decide to 'cover' things up........I wonder if they have covered things like the brake fluid resivoir & washer fliud tank?
  23. To each their own......but something as simple as boosting the battery or a friends (RX 330's comments) is a pain. I am all for appearance & neat (when the hood is closed that solves the problem) & ideas that 'help'........unfortunately, this hinders.....especially at night. :whistles:
  24. :o <_< to me, that says the Michies are crap in snow, since I had the RE92s and was horrified by them even in the slightest dusting of powder. Steve, I am not suprised by your findings as many friends up here have the Michies and hate driving in the snow because of them. steviej Exactly! A light rain would make the car nervous with the 92's......never mind snow.
  25. sw, you thought the Bridgestone RE 92 were even remotly sure footed in the snow?
