  1. The 2007 & newer LS 460's now have a timing chain as opposed to a timing belt correct?
  2. If it is that should go over very well in Europe...as practical as they are, I can't see myself driving a Lexus hatchback on this side of the pond.
  3. Not sure what you mean about there are MANY ways of changing ATF...? I only know of two....a 'drain & fill' or a total flush which is not recommended due to possible damage which could result from the high pressure of the machines that are used. As mentioned in previous threads, I do regular 'drain & fills' every two years or 30k miles (some here do them even more frequently). If you have never done any tranny service, I would highly suggest you do....that fluid has been in there for 8+ years now & I would do several drain & fills over the next month or so...not a total flush.
  4. Welcome to LOC team. :) First off, congrats to you & your Wife on expecting your first child! B) What is your price range for a vehicle & just curious what is it about the RX specifically you like? Do you have any other vehicles on your short list other than the RX & possible Highlander? As you seem to know, the key with one of these vehicles is service records, service records & service records (especially all oil & tranny fluid changes accounted for & I would only consider one if the timing belt has been changed as well). My main concern with any 8 - 10 year old vehicle is the lack of a warranty...oh sure you can get '3rd party' coverage...but on a Lexus....this will be expensive & read the fine print very carefully. But definately have a trusted mechanic go over the entire vehicle with a fine tooth comb before any deal is done.
  5. I think the LS is built on it's own platform...I seriously doubt the current recalls apply. Steve....car payment free is an awesome feeling! B)
  6. One should always (short of changing the pair out within a month or two & one burns out type of thing) replace headlight bulbs in pairs regardless. I hope it's just the bulb too.
  7. I'd bet the ranch & raise you my ES that the LS is not part of this Steve. Then again, I would have bet $$$ on your vehicle would be an LS. ;)
  8. Would you like to give a summary on all of that for us? I might also suggest one reads their owners manual to confirm....Toyota Type IV fluid or equivalent. To my knowledge, his 2002 does not call for anything Dexron....I know this because I was the owner of a 2001 previously & the current owner of a 2005 ES 330....both vehicles call for the above. Copy & pasting something while referencing Wikipedia in this situation....is not very helpful....it actually creates confusion.
  9. I kind of like the 2010 improvements actually....it's too bad the sport model isn't offered in AWD.
  10. It definately looks more heavy duty that's for sure.
  11. Yeah, those are not the OE mats....Just keep bugging your dealer until they arrive. B)
  12. Welcome to LOC....very nice ride! B) Enjoy.
  13. Here is a link to two pictures of accelerator assemblies...the CTS version & the Denso... http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/whats-wro...sembly-edition/ Also, I mentioned previously that I don't think this recall is over just yet & would probably be expanded...well here you go... http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/toyotas-r...n-japan-models/
  14. I disagree with your mechanic. First off our cars require Toyota Type IV fluid (or equivalent)...not Dexron III fluid...you will bugger up your tranny. I change my ATF ever 2 years or 30k miles...on a regular basis & I just do the regular 'drain & fills' with a new plug gasket. I also use Amsoil Synthetic ATF which helps out a great deal as far as cold weather performance & slightly smoother shifting compared to the Toyota IV ATF.....and I've used it for years on both Lexus ES's I have owned. More info here... http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/atf.aspx
  15. I hear ya! Maybe in the meantime...I'll just get a poster of one & put it on my wall at work lol.
  16. Realizied that about 30 seconds after I posted this lol! The AWD model lists for $88,000 brand new on the Lexus Canada Website! Are you $hi%ting me?! :( http://www.lexus.ca/lexus/experience/en/ho...V&year=2010 Think I'll just import one when the time comes...screw that!
  17. I prefer Certified Pre-Owned Underwear! ;) That's a great idea to switch the bulbs to. I'm also getting the phone book when I type in the Philips bulb info on e-bay.
  18. I'll keep mine too....my 05 just clocked over the 60k mile mark...and has been bulletproof for me the last 2 years. I use SW as a benchmark of when to expect problems or more expensive parts replacements / service :P I think Steve has over 140k miles on his 03 & all things considered your still happy right Steve? Next purchase I would like to give the LS some serious consideration...2 main problems for me though...it's RWD (but I know a good set of Winter tires will solve that problem) & I honestly don't need a V8 engine....perhaps that will change in the future.
  19. What are you thinking of purchasing? An LS?
  20. I'd be interested for future reference too...I hear the OE replacement HID's are astronomical in price. :(
  21. That Interstate battery is what I am going with too...800 CCA's! You betcha...nice choice. B) How does the battery fit compared to the old one? same size?
