  1. If consistantly maintained properly that mileage is possible for sure! If not even more than that depending on how long you plan to keep the vehicle! I'd consider using synthetic oil however. Just my 2 cents. B)
  2. I'd fight the ticket too......if you can prove it (you have the bill when you got the car tinted?). How much is the fine btw & would it hurt your future insurance rates? B)
  3. l-tuned parts is a very good site to consider what mods to put on. I personally would go with: - Strut tower brace - Upgraded brake package - tint - HID's (if not already equipped) - perhaps some sort of classy interior mod. Let us know & good luck! B)
  4. 31rx, If you can find a 'peach' of an RX early 2000's that has been religiously maintained with all warranty & service records available (includes oil changes with is vital naturally because of engine gelling but any other relevent fluid changes as well depending on the year & mileage). I would also suggest your find that 'peach' at a Lexus dealer as opposed to an off make lot & get it as a COP (certified pre-owned) & consider purchasing a 'Lexus' extended warranty. Considering where you live, I'd go with a AWD model as well. B) Keep us posted & good luck!
  5. We got only about 4+" but the temp dropped to -25 c overnight!
  6. Agreed......& It's a 90 LS 400.......there was no 89 model year. ;)
  7. lol, travel....were you trying to respond? lol B)
  8. LOL sw......that must have been a sight to see......I wouldn't even drive that car with 4 studded snows on it & heavy items in the back for weight.
  9. Avid Touring & H4S are very good choices VB, but the Goodyears (especially the Triple Treads) are just that much better with better technology in the tread pattern & longer treadlife (80,000 mile warranty!). B)
  10. Welcome to the club travelgal! B) Can you tell me if you currently have the original tire size on the car? That would be 205 65 15 size on the sidewall. If that's the case, you have a ton of choices to choose from. Having said that, based what you have stated in what your looking for in a tire, I would suggest the following: - 2 brand new tires from Goodyear - Goodyear Assurance Triple Tread & the Good year Assurance Comfortread. They are both built of long mileage, very comfortable & quiet ride with excellent bad weather traction. Of the 2, I would suggest the Triple tread first, the Comfortread second as you will get longer mileage & better overall bad weather traction.. Both are the best available on the market today for what your looking for. check out the website at http://www.goodyearassurance.com/ OR click the 2 links from the tirerack website below: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...romCompare1=yes http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?ti...romCompare1=yes Pay close attention to the 'color charts' in each category......all green means it's a fantastic tire in their respected 'sub category' (dark green is better than the light green). B) I agree with you that Michelin does not have very much to choose from except maybe the Michelin Hydroedge.......the Goodyear would be not only a better choice, but less expensive to boot. - Only other tire I would have a look at is the Yokohama Avid Touring. Not as highly rated as the Goodyears, but a decent & quiet all round premium all season tire. Any more questions or concerns, feel free to ask away! Good Luck.
  11. I knew that would get you! :D ← :D ;) :whistles:
  12. Sw, no all season tire is designed to handle that kind of snow fall......I don't care if the tire cost's $1000 a piece or a new tire called 'God's all seasons' are available. Close to a foot of snow on an all season tire........ummmmmm.........no it's not even realistic. It's is too much risk for any vehicle with all season tires......that would include AWD ones as well, not just a Lexus ES with Toyo's.:whistles: If anyone actually tries to do that.......you should listen very carefully.......as you will hear your all season tires laugh hysterically at laugh at the person & the news coverage of all the accidents will reflect that . ;):whistles: ← My last diesel truck had all seasons and was fine in 18+ inches of snow! Maybe the 4x4 helped! ) ← I assume they were a LT all season tire as opposed to a passenger car all season? ;)
  13. USA 2 for the VP right? ;) B)
  14. Sw, no all season tire is designed to handle that kind of snow fall......I don't care if the tire cost's $1000 a piece or a new tire called 'God's all seasons' are available. 15. All season tires are required (with the M & S stamp on the sidewall) to provide traction in 'light snow' in order to be called an 'all season' tire. The Toyo's do provide this, and a good job in 'light snow' (ice is not it's fote which nobody is disputing, & the Toyo's do not go out of their way to state that as you mention). The Dunlop is under a different category overall then the Toyo in many ways.....I have no experence with this tire so I wll reserve judgement. I do know that the Dunlops (because of the UHPAS designation & stiffer sidewalls & rubber compound) do not provide the ride quality, longevity or comfort that the Toyo's provide in normal dry road conditions (the Toyo's sacriface the 'overall' winter traction to acheive this). Both have their pro's & con's........that's why I said also that the perfect tire has yet to be invented. Do me a favour, if you find the perfect tire, let me know & I'll do the same if I discover it before you.......we might be waiting a long time mind you! ;) B) Bottom line, the pro's far out number the con's with the TPT because of the tires 'primary' function (which is comfortable & quiet riding tire....which compliments the type if car the ES is, with long mileage wear & very good wet weather performance and for the price is excellent value......in a V or H speed rated package). It may not be at the top of their respected 'segment' but nowhere near the bottom either. B)
  16. Stevie, we were kidding. ask people here who have met me (blake918 for instance) im a very...how do i say it...lively person? i just like to laugh an djoke around. no hard feelings right guys? and uh, lexusfreak, i looked at the outdoor thermometer i have today when i got home from work...it was 78 in the shade... B) care to come visit? i feel for you...really... sipping margaritas by the pool, yours truly, Josh. ok im sorry, but i just HAD to do that. i knwo what the -50 f() is like. been there and done that alot of my life, minus the last 2 years. alaska is fun. :D ← All in good fun guy's! B) Thanks for the invite Josh.......I have access to an indoor pool, hot tub & sauna in my Condo (for dirt cheap maintenance fees) & am going to Florida in March for baseball's spring training, golf & water park fun! :D I should be able to 'tuff it out' untill then. ;)
  17. I think the licence plate is USA 1 is it not? B) ;) & think our PM's licence plate is LOSER! lol ;) :whistles: Geez, with all the taxes us Canadians.....can we get the man a 'proper' vehicle!? I'd die if they got him a smart car!
  18. Is the vehicle still under factory waranty or is it a CPO Lexus?
  19. Do all Lexus vehicles have a power steering filter or just the LS? First I've heard of it to be honest.
  20. Well said Doug! B) You & I are on the exact same page (especially on the ice issue as far as all season tires go.......if one wants 'ice' traction you will need actual 'studded' winter tires which, for the time being at least......are illegal in southern & central Ontario.......northern Ontario they are permitted. Check with your respected state law accordingly). B) mburn....your right, the Dunlop's you mention do have a more aggressive tread pattern.......that's because they are considered an 'ultra high performance all season' as opposed to the Toyo TPT.....they are a 'Touring performance tire', hence the name, so were not comparing apples to apples here. ;)
  21. -25 degrees celsius (or - 13 fehrenheit) this morning in Toronto......not including any windchill. :cries:
  22. Same here....much quieter than the Michelin MXV4's that were on my ES. ;) ← I posted the noise question right after I got my new tires. It is either the noise is going away with age or I am just getting used to it. ← As the tire wears, the noise dissipates. I found them fairly quiet when I first got mine.....they are even quieter now after about 10,000 miles. B)
  23. lol sw, I agree! like what is that? I'd actually put our PM to shame if I ever me the guy if I showed up in my Lexus! They use to drive a Roadmaster several years back! ;) (or Roadmonster.....take your pick). I guess our government wanted a 'Canadian built' vehicle.........if that's the case, at least get the new Chrysler 300C with the Hemi! :whistles:
  24. Agreed! If I had the choice, I'd take the 4 door all day too.....& the GS is a very nice luxury sports sedan! B)
  25. I just have a 'regular' drop in K & N air filter. B)
