  1. Pretty cool source of info Toys! Thanks! B)
  2. Sorry to have started a tiff here everyone! Let me ask this, what reasons does an automaker decide to use a timing belt over a timing chain &/or vice versa? B)
  3. If you haven't changed the tranny pan gasket in a while, as a preventitive measure, it might be a wise idea. B)
  4. I might have missed it here, but the 2004 & 2005 ES 330 also has a timing belt, correct? B)
  5. Just wondering if anyone knew if the new 2005+ Toyota Avalon with the 3.5L V6 is equipped with a Timing belt or a timing chain? Also, what is the mileage replacement interval (if applicable) Please advise......thanks! B)
  6. Good lord, how many 'upgrades' can they possibly do?
  7. Welcome back Army! B) Will they be sending you overseas pr perhaps to assist in the hurricane releif effort?
  8. Let me know all the work was done under the extended warranty & what is not covered & the estimate to fix the non-warranty items. I'd appreciate it Joel! Thanks & good luck! B)
  9. Yup, if you have the $$$$ you can get your choice of wild ride in Vegas! :D :whistles:
  10. Joel, Have you decided yet which Lexus dealer you will go to?
  11. Nothing wrong with a full size Caddy ;) It's a rental! B)
  12. Contact some of the big rental car companies & let us know.......would also be courious what the rates would be compared to a normal 'mid or full size' vehicle. B) Check out Typhoon Lagoon while your down there.......the kids will have just a blast! B)
  13. I'd go for 19's personally Max. B)
  14. Agreed, I personally don't think that Acura's 'Flagship' is anywhere near the same category as the Lexus LS......if the old gen RL is the best Acura can do to try & compete in the Luxury market......maybe they should keep the car to themselves. B) Only good thing about the Acura is that it suffers from high depreciation.
  15. I have an autolock (on top of my factory alarm & engine immobilizer) which attaches to the brake pedal only (the steering wheel can be cut so the brake pedal/steering wheel device is a waste) which is the strongest part of the car. http://www.unbreakable.com/Unbreakable_Auto_BL.htm Available at most popular auto parts stores. No car is theft proof however.......as mburn has mentioned, it they want it bad enough, they will get a flatbed for it etc......it is however a something that might make a potential thief move onto another vehicle that is easier to steal so if they did take a car with the autolock already on, I wish them the best of luck getting the device off. One should always have theft insurance. B)
  16. It's the Lexus extended warranty sk.....both mine & jweiss. B) Mileage is good until 180,000 kms but the time expires near the end of Jan 2006 for me.
  17. Good points Toys, however it would be Toyota Canada up here lol ;) Only one thing I am wondering & that is would the Toyota dealer be able to diagnose a problem (not that there is one mind you) with my factory AVS suspension system?
  18. Anybody else have opinions on where one should take their Lexus for a full inspection before the 'Lexus' extended warranty expires? Naturally, one would think that they should take it to the Lexus dealer they purchased the car & warranty from to have them go over the car with a 'fine tooth comb' or should one go to a different Lexus (or Toyota) dealer & not mention the car has a Lexus extended warranty to see what the dealer finds? What is a fair & reasonable price one should be charged for this service? (1-2 hours labour?) How would others specifically go about this (put yourself in our shoes) & how soon should one have these things looked at before the extended warranty is up (1 month+)? My 01 ES has been trouble free since I purchased it (currently has 100,000 kms - 62,000 miles), & I have no known issues currently, but I don't want to kick myself after the fact & have costly repairs in the near future. Any opinions & suggestions are very much appreciated. B)
  19. Welcome to the club. What service history (tranny fluid changes) do you have for the vehicle? And has the car ever been in for tranny work before this? Any additional details would be of help. B)
  20. Perhaps this thread should be moved to the LS forums where more folks might be able to help. B)
  21. Why not call a couple of Lexus dealers (speak with the service manager) and ask them if any of these items woule be covered under the Emission system extended warranty? Ask them how much they will charge just for the diagnosis. B)
  22. Agreed, it had better be good too lol.
  23. Use factory coolant (red or Pink......pink is extended life) & distilled water. B) Not sure the step by step procedure however. B)
  24. I'd add air filter, fuel filter, clean throttle body & make sure tire pressures are correct. B)
