  1. You can get it from this site http://is350.grantham-international.com/tsib.html Tell me if the problem will be permanently fixed. all the best,
  2. We don't buy a car for one season nor we are supposed to put this car in a constant temp. chamber. Russia makes very cheap cars that run in Syberia and in Africa. I read Infiniti got similar problems; this confirms the industry wide saying "Tokyo Nights". The queation is how on earth could Toyota make cheaper cars better than luxury ones?
  3. Dealerships will always welcome you to visit them because they get paid for the service they do. BUT the rattles/noises will reoccur again and again and they get paid again and again. The issue of the weather is not and should not be considered as a contributing factor to noise. In fact my service manager said"the IS noise occur when the car gets warm. I don't accept that. I took my car to about three different dealerships and two of them said VERBATIM: "WE CAN TRY TO HELP BUT WE CAN NOT FIX DESIGN PROBLEMS." So, my conclusion is, at least this IS has design flaws; I said this before and as I recall Bartkat disagreed. It is a fact and it is unfortunate and I imagine Lexus will pay a heavy price on the long run. What I'm thinking of these days is this IS250 does not produce 200 hp and I repeat it, it does not produce 200 hp; possibly it only produces around 165 hp or so. If Lexus is thinking of future then they got to do something. I wish everyone here very happy holidays.
  4. Get a remote starter from Lexus but it costs around 1,500 Canadian dollars.
  5. ------------- Does it need any further firmness? I'm rather interested in making it much softer so it may keep nuts and bolts as well as interior parts intact.
  6. Your sales person is wrong. The only problem that could have happend with your wife is if she turned the car off she'd never be able to turn it on again unless she calls you and you had to walk away for a mile to give her the key. I don't always listen to those sales people.
  7. I'm very surprised to know that even with 2007 ones there is that level of noises. Sometimes I really don't know where the rattles come from because it comes from so different places. This certainly a bad thing for a name like Lexus and a "B" is too generous. I even sometimes feel I'm driving my Russian friend's old Lada!
  8. I HAVE BEEN USING BURNT CDs IN MY CARS AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. IF THE CD IS BAD YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO EJECT IT PERIOD. UNLESS YOUR PLAYER IS MADE BY THE CHEAPEST CHINESE FACTORY.
  9. I have same problem BUT I did not try to discuss it with the dealership since I've been struggling with them to solve the very obvious thing "rattling issue"--they're not successful so far. I'm not if this is a design flaw related to this vehicle stability. I thought about the issue that Lexus designers have never attempted to drive this care over a rough road, that's why these rattles and drifting problems were not taken care of in the design.
  10. If it was an alignment issue or a problem with the pads/rotors, the problem would not be intermittent. This sounds like a problem with a caliper or something within the hydraulic system. The issue here is that it only happens on some occasions and it sounds like more pressure is being applied to the left side caliper than to the right. My guess it a sticking caliper on the right side, a bent brake line or an issue within the hydraulic system which sends braking power to some wheels more so than others depending on the signal sent from the VDIM system. This is a safety concern on a brand new car, and you have been reporting it since taking the car home. Bring it back, demand a loaner, and tell them not to call you until it's corrected. ===================== Scott M: The problem is the dealers always call back and claim it's been fixed. I don't have this particular problem but have other ones. My dealer says something "off the record" but does not write it and instead they write they fixed the problem... One time the service manager mocked me when I told him about certain problem which was later on proved to be existing. Other service tech said I'm reading off the internet and what I read is not always applicable on my IS250. Lexus US are not always helpful because they seemingly side with the dealer.
  11. I can say, without a doubt, that Northside Lexus service is a dream to deal with. The sales people their are 'eh, but service is beyond top notch. I agree with the above poster about Sterling McCall. I almost can't believe the difference in the level of service between McCall and Northside. I've never used Westside Lexus, but they are owned by the same group so the service there might be as good as Northside, but I don't know for sure. =================== Magnus357: I'm not sure if you've suffered from Sterling McCall as much as I did. Two Technicians(one of them was referred to as a service lead) could not find the A/C condensate drip tube. They scratch cars, they don't wash the cars unless I ask them to do it, etc........... I really don't wish anyone to go through the same experience.
  12. Try to avoid Sterling McCall. You still have two other dealerships over there. Good Luck
  13. =========================== It is definately the last first gen car I ever buy. ============================ Man, this is not a first gen IS. I heard a lot of stories like this about my IS from Sterling McCall Lexus in Houston before I moved to Miami. I agree with your comment that service techs don't know much about the IS. BUT this Lexus problem, I mean how could they compete with other makers and don't have competent techs?
  14. 1 mile =1.61 km 1 gal = 3.79 liters So, 11.5 L/100 kms = 3.04 gal/62.14 mile======>i.e. 20.44 mpg Congrats.
  15. Well, passion, you have to understand that everyone drives differently too. No personal affront intended, but anyone who thinks the IS250 AWD has an acceptable amount of power does not drive the car like a sports car to begin with. If driven calmly, many IS250 owners are very happy with mid 20 MPG. My guess is that bjgross drives calmly...at least more so than you. (anyone else laugh when thay saw that name?):whistles: Well, thanks Scott, however, the discrepancy can not be that wide unless one car got to be tuned. No matter what bad driving habbit one have it should not be that big difference. I myself never got any higher than 18; when I fill in my tank with Shell(10%Ethanol) I get 14 mpg.
  16. Good for you! But if this obvious discrepancy is not a sign of bad quality issue what is it? You can't tell me that your foot is made of gold and mine is cheap stone.
  17. I have around 8k in my IS250 AWD and have this very low mileage. This blows my mind and I thought it's because of the AWD; but certianly it's un acceptable. This is the persuit of perfection!
  18. what is250 do you have? I mean they may vary from AWD to RWD.
  19. I had those buzzling noise coming out underneath the dashboard on my 250. My friend that drove a Toyota told me it is a sparkle sound from a broken circuit!!. It happened to her car before. I now think it make sense because my cigarrete light output doesn't work out of sudden. I will bring it to dealer tomorrow. Please let's know the outcome. I had my 250 checked twice-one time left with them for three days- and the rattle disappeared for one-two days but resurfaced again. I don't think it's a broken circuit sparkle; it's a rather material/design issue. I am thinking of a nother dealership to check it and if they don't fix it and forever I'll be bitterly drop off FOREVER Lexus from my car list even if the problem is in the service technicians.
  20. Had simmilar problems and my dealer replaced the Nav DVD with another one (for Free). Make sure before you take to the dealer to have it set right to your area.
  21. True, some rattles could happen because of something like cofee cup or water bottle or even a CD that vibrates/moves inside their places. However, the 2nd Gen IS has intrinisc design flaw in its dashboard material and it expands then does something with the windshield. Most of the problems come from this dashboard. I think if an IS does not rattle it's purely a matter of luck.
  22. Try to check it with other dealership or an independent shop. Frankly, I'm not impressed by most of Lexus service people.
  23. ======= Nothing new IMO....Hopefully they fixed the design flaws(according to one Lexus dealership service techs). It's just the photography effects.
  24. The Eibach kit lowers the front 1.4" and the rear 1" and I don't see why it wouldn't fit the AWD. However, the AWD is the only second gen IS that has a means of adjusting the rear camber, so there is at least one difference in the suspension set-up. I'd like to know if the camber adjustment from the AWD will fit the RWD, as I may need camber adjustment after lowering my RWD. I think the adjustment is by use of 'offset washers', but don't know any detail. You're right, the gap looks ugly and I think Lexus inherited this mean way from Toyota where they use small tires to lower their cost unlike Honda. So, did you lower it? I want to get mine done too.
