Can't believe this crap is happening to a Lexus. Chrysler had this exact same thing on the mid to late 90's Cirrus, Dodge Stratus & Plymouth What-ever-it-was-called. ( But at least Chrysler did a recall) A friend of mine had a Plymouth, and had both sides seperate on his wife, on 2 different occasions. At least both itmes she was going about 25 mph, and only a couple blocks from home. Turns out the previous owner never took it in for the recall, but the dealer stepped up and gave my friend a heck of a discount on the new parts, practically gave them to him. Only time I ever saw a Chrysler dealer even TRY to be up front about an issue. So are the replacements better than the ones they came with? Or do we need to worry about it again in another 90k miles?

Then there's the "blowing spark plugs out of the head" problem with Ford V-8's. I have a '97 F150 with the 5.4 liter. Piece-o-crap. Last Ford product I'll ever own, and my family has been Ford people since the Model-T. Literally.

somehwere in the past I've heard/read similar stories from SC300 owners, so this MAY be a valid diagnosis. But yes, get a second opinion.

Yeah, some don't mind the weather. My brother would love to move away, but his wife is a native, and actually loves it there. Different strokes, and all ;) My family moved there back in '68, from L.A., and I hated it from day one. Gimme the 'ol sunshine! B) BTW, we moved from just up the road from you, Arlington. Isn't hwy 9 wonderful!? Esecially during rush hour! :o Nope, don't miss it there in the least.

I moved AWAY from that stupid state(Washington) to get away from all that damn rain. Just need to convince the rest of my family to do the same, so I don't ever have to go back for even a visit. Go ahead, ask me how I REALLY feel about the great pacific north-WET! :P

I don't think I've ever gotten less than 20mpg, even around town. I get 24-25 on a trip, doing 70-80mph.

Wow! Nice catch! You beat my '99 that only had 32K on it when we bought it last spring. (Just rolled over 40k yesterday)

Sure you don't mean valve seals? Not guides? I keep hearing about this issue on these cars. I've started doing the one thing I swore I'd never do, use synth oil, in hopes of dodging this bullet. My car has low enough miles, and appeared to have been very well taken care of by the PO. So, keeping my fingers crossed.

As fun as a blower would be on my GS300, and I've thought alot about it, I'd rather just go buy a GS400 and be done with it. That would have more than sufficient git-up-n-go for me, and for what it'd cost to mod my GS300, I could just trade up. 'course, that goes against the grain of true gearheads ;) I did, afterall, hop up a '71 Pinto 4-banger many years ago.

Ah, so that throttle lag is suposed to be there. I thought I just had a wierd issue with my GS. I'll stop worrying about it now <_<

How many miles on the car? I'd have to hope it either has way high mileage, or something bad happened to it in a past life.

'67 Chrysler 300 with a 440, had the 120mph speedo buried and still accelerating. '84 merc-Benz 300SD(turbodiesel), had up to 100mph, pretty much topped out. Maybe another 5 mph left. '99 GS300, hit 120 mph and let up(my wife was screaming at me )

Good thread. I need to get new rims. Previous owner apparently couldn't park the car without scraping at least one rim, as all 4 of mine are wasted. Been trying to decide if I should stick with the stock 16'-ers, or if I could go bigger without killing the ride. BTW deadmilenko, I always thought white cars sucked, but it DOES look good on the GS! B) Gads! Just noticed how old this thread is

Awesome lineup! Love the old school Datsun 510. Don't see those very often anymore. They were the thing that kinda started the whole import craze, along with the early Z's.(I'm showing my age here :whistles: )
