  1. I highly doubt it. In fact when they do the TSB, they will tell you this is the one they do for free, after that your paying for the replacements.
  2. You may have had some water in your fuel tank. I would get some water remover and throw a bottle of Techron in there just as a safe and inexpensive option.
  3. The person who said it won't help has no clue. The new pads are sooooooooo much better! I haven't noticed any braking feel differences, no squeal, and the rims stay looking nice no matter how much brake dust there seems to be on them. Instead of that dark brown/grey/black powder coating that would develope on the front rims as the wheels get dirty, now it just looks not shiny any more, like the rim just loses it's lustre, but it's atleast the same color now! Even when you haven't washed them for a few weeks.
  4. ;) We can move mountains when we all work together! I'm glad this all worked out for you, and you'll be able to get the right pads on your car when your ready. I think most of the dealers are just feeling kind of beat up over this brake TSB. I know that some people ahave been trying to take it a bit too far by going in for the brake dust TSB, then a couple months later going back in for the brake squeal TSB and wanting the brake pads changed out again, then complaining all over again about the brake dust issue. It is Lexus' fault here for not just addressing the matter at the factory and installing, but until they start putting on the new pads, the dealers are going to have to contend with this for awhile.

    funny stuff man!!!
  6. Ok, a really expensive go cart on styroids.
  7. Ohh? tell me more...mods?....specs and stats?.......pics?.........
  8. I hope I wasn't sounding sarcastic about SW and DDOC. I meant they know better than I, this is just what I use.
  9. I just reread you original post: And it's a 91? Yeah, it could be that as well. If the spark plugs aren't firing, then gas is being pushed into the exhaust and causing the rest of the issues your expereincing. I originally read this as you just had them replaced, not have them but not installed yet.
  10. If your injectors are stuck open or are improperley delivering the fuel, then yes, as the fuel floods the flame kernal, you would experience the car misfiring and bucking some, then as the fuel is pushed out the exhaust valves and into the hot header where it gasses and burns there causing the cats to over heat. When you pull the spark plug it will have a moist black coating on it. Most techs automatically jump to the coils thinking that the spark plug is not firing. Which is correct, the spark plug is fouled out and not firring, but a bad fuel injector can also be overwhelming the spark and causing the misfire from too much fuel being delivered to the cylinder. You said you smelled a strong fuel smell also? Everything so far points tothe fuel injectors. And, you should really have a gas cap on there. It does alot more than just devide the outside from the inside.
  11. 92? Definatley go with the Denso line up then. Denso was actually developed by Toyota, like Motorcraft and AC delco for Ford and Chevy. Seeing as how you already have em in, I would just run them until you have a problem or the next time you need to replace them. I don't see any reason to pull them now unless you can return or exchange them.
  12. It actually sounds more like a the fuel injectors. Have you pulled them and looked at em?
  13. Yeah, you might want to rethink the Bosch thing. They just don't match up well for Toyota or Honda's. Denso's and NGK's are by far a better choice for these cars. The new Irridium line is by far the best plug to come along so far. They really transfer and dissapate the heat very well. What year is your LS?
  14. Stoner's is good stuff. I use that as well. And on glass, denatured alchohol works really well on getting rid of the fold over line from the windshield wipers. And I have also used the glass polish from Griot's with an orbital buffer on my older cars that have alot of water spot build ups. The glass was like brand new! SW and DDoc are the pros though. I'm just piping in here.. :) And for the dash I have been using the Griot's interior cleaner and the vinyl and rubber dessing that Manchester above mentioned. Great stuff!! I've been very impressed with thier products. I used to use the Armour All Natural Finish Gel with UV, but the Griot's lasts longer, goes on easier, and looks way better!
  15. it's more like a go cart on styroids.
  16. I don't think your screwed. I think you just need to get as many of the management staff as you can involved in this. Maybe park the RX in the middle of the entrance to the parking lot and walk around the showroom. Whne they request you via the PA system just inform them that your waiting on the key so you can move it. Seriously though, I would ask for the sales manager and the service manager and the sales person you originally dealt with to get together. Ask them when they expect to have the key, a few days from now?, a week?, then turn to the service manager and say great, I would like to schedule an appointment for the day after that to have this issue resolved then. If they come up with the key, you can allways cancel the appointment, but if not, then you just take the RX in and have them do what was gone over in your meeting.
  17. It's up to you. If you want the dust issue taken care of, go in, but if you can live with it for awhile and get the new pads later then it might be a better solution. I would give Bobby G a call and just set it up for the future if you decide to wait for the new pads so he is aware your in line for that. Then when they do come out and you show up, you and he have already established some history together and can go from there.
  18. For the IS 250 there is an issue I think everyone should know about. Lexus is working on a new brake pad just for the IS 250. Currently there are 2 TSB's out for the IS 250 in particular. There is the brake dust TSB and the squeal TSB. So it may be in your better interest to wait awile and see when the new pads come out. For the IS 350 they used to use the GS pads, but the new replacement kit which is the part number I listed above works great. Very little dust, no squeal, and great bite. With the success of that kit, they are going to production to use the same pad for the IS 250 brake pad issue, and after that it won't matter if you have a dust issue or a squeal, they will be replacing them both with this same replacement kit for the IS 250.
  19. Why can't we all just get along??? :(
  20. it isn't from hitting curbs ? If so im sure it wont be covered you mean it will be covered? Since anything like that(paint issues) is usually the manufacturer's fault. Unless you applied some cleaning chemicals that caused the paint to fail. I'm in no way saying that is what happened here, I'm just raising the other possibilities. Some of the drive thru car washes can use some pretty nasty chemicals.
  21. Tell him your calling in referrence to the Brake dust TSB. The replacement part is the TSB replacement kit 04465-30400. And the TAS case number is 081490290. And be sure to thank him for his attention to this matter and let him know that this is the kind of service that earns loyalty. :)
  22. well, at this point, you have two choices, install 02 simulators or put the cats back in. What exhaust system did you put in? Tbh, I would put the cats back in. You not improving the air flow any by just removing those 2 cats. Unless a Mazzuri header is in your future also. Then I would do the sims ans you would need that anyway then. But if your not doing anything else to the exhaust, then I would just put the cats back on then.
  23. If I were you, I would take it to someone you know first. If you don't know someone, then take it to Lexus and have them diagnose it for you. Then come back here and tell us what they told you and how much to fix it. Then we can go from there.
  24. Just checked my email. This is what I got. This is a different Lexus dealer. Well, I guess I'm just more influencial ;) . I called the 973 number and spoke with Nancy, and then I spoke with Bobby Giordano the service manager. He "happily" agreed to do the brake dust TSB for your car. Call them and ask for Bobby Giordano directly, and tell him that you are calling for the TSB on the IS 350. Make sure you have the replacement part numbers and the TAS number for them. You can email him also at bgiordano@tricountylexus.com Good luck again. :)
