  1. Well, I went to my first Lexus car meet last night. I have to say, the Dream Ride represented the LOC very well. B) I was impressed by some of the other efforts going on. I met Rex94, he has a 94 SC 300 that he just did a 1JZ twin turbo swap with. It was all stock, but he did the work himself, and is very enthusiastic about all the stuff he plans on doing. It was nice talking with him. There was this other guy, BadViper, his dad gave him a 93? Lexus ES with a V6. It was the family truckster, and not well maintained, but he has been working on it a little at a time and restoring it, and bringing it back. I was moved by his efforts. He's going to school, and works part time. So money is a big issue. But when you talk to him, you can hear the passion right away. I'm gonna make a note to help him in the future with his car. He did an amazing dash light LED conversion on it. I was surprised. It looked great.( I may incorperate(trade) ;) his help when I go to do mine.) I also got to meet another turbo'd IS 300. It was Pearl White, and completely put together by TurboEast. He has tuning issues going on right now, (running way too rich.) So, when we sort of tested each other on the throttle a few times I could tell I gained on him much faster than he could pull away. ( I was following him to the next meet site at UCF where everyone gets together.) Which brings me to part 2 of this meet thing. We leave the lot we were in and cruise to the top of the parking garage at UCF. There were probably 50 or so cars there. Honda's, Nissan's, Mustangs, and a few others. All the cars kinda grouped together by mfgr. I wish I had my camera with me then. I will be sure to bring it next time and I'll post em here. I met some new people, and looked at other rides, from what I understand it was an off night. Everyone said that usually there are over 200 cars there easily. It get's pretty packed. And then there is an even larger car meet at the Waterford Lakes Parking lot! So, I think I'll go to that one also and see if I can hook up with some more Lexus rides. I don't think the meet thing is going to be a long term thing. But I'm having fun for now. Yeah, I get to show off my car, and I get to look for ideas along the way. So, so long as it's fun, I'm in.

    Road Rage

People like that like to intimidate people. Unfortunately, it's how things escalate, as niether wants to be the one to "back down" once they initiate the confrontation. I think you did the best thing by just staying in the car, and staying cool. But I really feel he was in the wrong for getting out of his car. I mean come on, I'm sure he's been flipped off lots of times before in his life, and called much worse to his face. He needs to chill!! If that ever happens again, jump on your cell phone, get thier tag number right away, and explain whats going on. Then if it does escalate, you have that on your side. Ok, I have a you call it scenerio. I'll put up the scene, and you give me your opinion on how to handle it. Cool? Your driving down the freeway. The speed limit is 65 mph. Traffic is medium density. It's 3 lanes, your in the middle lane. Your doing between 65 and 70 and approximately 2 1/2 seconds behind the car in front of you. And the car behind you is comfortably spaced as well. A Ford F 150 style deisel pick up truck comes tooling up the outside lane at about 85 mph. He comes to "slower" traffic and now wants over into your lane in front of you. You think he probably want s over to get into the inside lane so he can continue. Let's say he put his blinker on to tell you he wants over, or as he is closing the space between him and the slower car, and you anticipate he is going to want over..... Question: Do you slow down and let him by?, Speed up a hair and make him work his way around some other way, or just trap him there so he has to slow down, or just ignore him and the situation all together and continue your own path?

  4. the Meth/H2O has been around for awhile. It basically cools the intake air down more and adds punch. I don't know of any IS 300 per say, But I have seen the set up on different cars. I also saw a Meth/ Nitrous spray using the windshield fluid motor ( as other use), on a Mitsi 3000 awd. Now that was a nice set up.

  8. A 350 for $62k? Are they out of their mind??????? What the heck do they have on that thing????? You know what, I'll be back there in a day or 2, so I'll take a pic of the window sticker for ya. It seems there are few people who don't beleive me. Then you can see what they have for yourself. I read it over breifly, looked like jut the ML system with nav. and all, but nothing custom, all options that's all.

  10. K&N air filter huh? I would pull that filter and look at the inside of the air intake after the filter and make sure your not coating the intake with the oil they use in the filter. If you see it is, your MAS maybe coated as well and need to be cleaned.

    Road Rage

I'm not one to just start new threads, but there was a "certian" thread that was brought up about 2 weeks ago that seemed to really touch on some very contested practices. And because this board has input from across the nation and even over seas, I thought maybe we could air out some issues. I know we won't solve anything, but maybe the next time someone does something I think is really dumb, maybe from our talks I might be able to understand some of the thinking or see it from thier point of view. And by all mean, I think we should just raise Kane in here. LOL!! Ok, so I'll start with: Why in the do so many people think that if they miss their turn, it's ok to jump across 3 lanes of traffic, make everyone else do hands stands, and that if everyone doesn't clear a path for them we're the idiots???? You can clearly see them screaming at everyone else for not getting out of their way. What are they saying? How could they possibly think that I need to stop and move out of the way because they are in the wrong lane, nevermind that they cut you off 4 miles ago to get into that lane in the first place. What is sooooooo wrong with just going to the next turn? and going back the road you needed? Can someone help me out with this? I have alot more, as I'm sure alot of you have also. PLEASE post it here, so I can atleast say, "Ah HA!! I'm not the only one that feels like that." And by the way, if you identify yourself as the person doing it???, we'd like to hear from you too ;) . I gotta hear the other side of these.
  12. The fuel filter wouldn't have anything to do with poor gas mileage. I mean think about it, if the fuel filter was dirty and clogged, then the car would be getting less fuel, and the fuel pump itself would have to work harder. When you step on the throttle the car would want to die or break up in the upper rpm range as the car needed more fuel. The ECU logs driving patterns and adjusts to how you drive the car over time. So, I would start with the easiest fixes first. Disconnect the negative battery terminal for about 15 or 20 minutes. Then reconnect it. Then log you next tank of gas and see if you start getting better gas mileage. That will clear the ECU. I am assuming you have done the oil changes, and new air filter, and spark plugs were changed and gapped correctly? So, next I would check the intake and make sure its clean. You may want to consider having the fuel injectors cleaned , and even the throttle body itself could use a good cleaning. And one last thing is to clean the 02 sensors and make sure you have good exhaust flow, as older catalytic converters can start to get clogged. But if you think it's the fuel filter and/or pump, you will have to remove the back seat. Underneath the driverside rear seat is the access panel for the fuel pump and filter. Good luck.
  13. Well, it looks like I'm going to my first Lexus meet tonight. I have no idea how many people will be there. I think it's a small gathering though. So, I'll take some pics and post them here afterwards. It should be fun. A couple of IS 300's and a few GS owners will be there. So tonight when I get home I'll give the monster a qiuck bath. I'm hoping to get some cool ideas for future mods...
  14. I'm pretty sure they are all Volk Racing rims. The first set may be SSR's, but the last two are definately Volk.

  16. I honestly don't see how they will sell them for 60k. I just left the Lexus dealership here in Orlando, and the IS 350 is listed for 62k. I think the real price is going to up around 80k. I don't have any facts on that, it's just an opinion. I could very well be wrong.
  17. Dude, it's a sticky at the top of this forum courtesy of Bartkat. And before your next question, 2001-2003 are all the same car except 03 added the arm rest. :)
  18. Yeah, My.IS is a much more hostile crowd. You better know what your talking about there. And even then you get charged up alot. It's pretty hardcore there. I actually like this site the best, I just wish it was a little more active, that's all. I also go to Club Lexus. Looks like they have a Florida Lexus Club. I guess theres like 40 or so people in it. And they meet regularly. Ya think they might let me join? So, I was trying to get something going to see if it's something I'd like to do or not, and if anyone on this site would like to come also. but there have been no takers so far from the LOC. MY.IS has about 10 or so people coming, Club Lexus will be about 30-40 people. I have a great parking lot at the shop for it. The lot is about 50 feet wide, with about 60 stalls on each side, and there are parking stalls that face each other on each side with the main drive right down the middle. So everyone can back in park and face each other with a huge walk way in the middle. So, we'll see how this turns out. So, the parents are out of town and they entrusted YOU to watch the house?????? Did you pre-order the kegs and have all the directions printed up ready to go??? LOL!! Damn, So, how long are they gone for?? And those people you invited over to help you with the job, yeah, I imagine that you could use some help staying that drunk for awhile!! LOL!! You never know when exactly you hit the completely incompacitated line....OTFLMAO!!! And carrying those kegs by yourself is damn hard work too!!! I've also found that good freinds help me stay up longer when I'm drinking. Otherwise, I just drink and pass out in no time, wake up the next morning, not as much fun at all!!! Then there is the clean up. definatley need lots of help with that!!
