  1. I have a fantasy love affair with the 2008 Farrari F430 Challenge Stradale.
  2. :P
  3. Hey, bumping is racing! LOL!! or was that rubbing??
  4. Well, the first thing I would do is open the hood. With the motor cold, start it, and let it idle for about 1 minute. Then shut it off, and go around a put your hand on each exhaust port of the header. They should be warm. If you feel a cold one, then that cylinder may not be getting ignition. If it's only one, you may just have a loose igntion wire, and simple need to check them, clean them, reconnect them, I'm not sure if your on a distributor or coil packs, but iether way, it's probably that. Maybe some water is trapped in there, or a coil pack went bad. If it's not that, then go around the throttlebody and make sure you don't have any vacuume leaks, cracked hoses, or vacuume hoses that seem to go to nothing. He may have just knocked on of them off with the hose. And if it's not that, then maybe pull your timing belt cover and check the belts, and check your knock sensor. And just an afterthought, You might want to check the air intake and make sure it's not full of water or something. It may be that the car is sucking water in thru the intake and needs to work that out, and it's causing misfires.( I don't know how long you have had this issue, and what your brother did with the water hose exactly.)

    Road Rage

well, I have decided to just use this thread as a good venting device. Hopefully this will prevent me from disassembling someone at a stop light. Yesterday on my way home from the shop, I was moving along with traffic. I was driving the Nissan, which has that mean 1.8 litre 5 speed,LOL!!!, anyway, this lady in a new Mercedes C350 decides the lane I'm in is flowing slightly better and that there is about 3 inches more space than the total length of her car to move into. So she starts to come over, half into the lane change she gives me 2 flashes of the turn signal and just keeps coming over. Here's what REALLY GETS ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, I was the last car in my lane!!!!!! There was no body behind me for a half a block!!!! I'm thinkin this old hag had better need to make a right hand turn like now, because if she's just riding this lane, I'm gonna be even more ticked!! Well, she wass just riding this lane alright. So, after about 3 blocks, she has the nerve to tap her brakes at me because she thought I was tailgaiting her now!!!!!! Yeah,,,,,,I'm thinkin .357 at this point. And I mean hey, YOU THOUGHT IT WAS ENOUPH ROOM TO GET IN THIS LANE WITH!!! WHY WAS THIS AMOUNT OF SPACE OK WITH YOU BACK THERE???? AND NOT NOW????? So, I just changed lanes, while mentally setting up the "Arm .50 calibre machine guns" button and "target acquired screen",,, Fire....

  7. Peter Farrell Racing is up in your neck of the woods. I would call them and start there. You would do very well to let them tune you. They have done a few IS 300's that I know of, and thier no joke. They know what theyr'e doing. PF Supercars 4995 Winchester Blvd Frederick, Maryland 21703 Phone: 301.874.0611
  8. Idler pulley is 26 ft-lbf, camshaft pulley is 60 ft-lbf, crankshaft pulley is 243 ft=lbf.
  9. Oh, so you haven't even begun to tune it yet. Let us know how that goes and what your numbers end up being. Who did the turbo install?
  10. Where in Florida are you?
  11. No, no, nothing like that. Go ahead and get your money out of the oil that's in it. I would change the oil again at about 2500-3000 miles from now. Then just make sure you put a new filter on at the same time you convert to synthetic. No matter where you go to have your oil changed, it's gonna run you on average 40-50 bucks. Your right there in price. But remember that's conventional oil. Synthetic oil is gonna cost you ( if you have someone else do it) anywhere from 70-100 bucks. But your oil change intervals are every 7500 miles instead of 3000-3500 miles. So you just about break even in the long run. If you go to Amsoil, you can extend the oil change intervals to 15-20,000 miles between oil changes!! But you have to change the oil yourself as I don't know of anyplaces that use Amsoil for commercial oil changes.
  12. Well, first, Welcome to the LOC. :) And yes, the first time I took mine in for an oil change because I was in a hurry and didn't have the time to do it myself, they used Castrol also. GTX is not a synthetic oil. It is a modified conventional oil. I beleive Syntec is the Castrol synthetic line. I see your in Seattle, The weather there gets very cold?, Then yeah, a 5w30 would be a better choice for the colder weather conditions. I am a huge Amsoil user. I recommend it to everyone without reservation. I am not a Mobil fan, they use a mixed base stock for thier oils, but that's just me. I would definately atleast go synthetic though. Todays synth. oils just way out perform conventionals on so many levels. And you extend your oil change frequency to boot.
  13. Yeah man, I think your being taken for a ride. Just don't even bother going back there. Most places won't even do alignments for Lexus, BMW, Merc, and others as the adjustment and control systems are a bit more complicated and very sensative. I was going to comment on your before and after specs and how they didn't change. It's funny, the one spec they can't change(castor) has the most change from before and after. My advice is to go to a Toyota or Lexus dealership service center. Here in Florida, they charged me 140 bucks to do a four wheel alignment. I have 31000 miles on mine, and I installed Tein CS coilovers, dropped the car an inch and a quarter, and they recambered it back to spec. ( Which will still have inside tire wear, as spec camber for Lexus is still not square with the surface of the tire for some reason. But anyway, I can't see how you would need new tie rods and struts already. Unless the roads you drive on are goat path consistancy. LOL!! And to be honest, your not really out of spec now. Your barely in on the toe which should be toe out by less than a degree, your cambers look fine. They could be adjusted a bit more consistantly all around, but there is nothing in those numbers to indicate a big problem.

  15. Are you sure it's just a vacation? Maybe pack all your important stuff just in case.
  16. Those are some very nice cars!!! The GTR isn't out yet here in the states, but I'm pretty sure we're only a couple months away from the release. I have only seen them in pictures. AND, we don't have the Skylines here, or the Sylvia. <_<
  17. How many miles do you have on the car?
  18. What fuel management system are you using?

  20. Hey man, school comes first. And yeah, cut and paste the pics if that works better. I agree, you would look kinda suspicious and out of place walking around cars taking pic shots!! LOL!! "Well, see, we have this car forum and theres this ugliest car thread there, and I saw your car, so,,,,,,,," LOL!!!!! Although, I have to say the backgrounds of the pics you took are very interesting also. Your world to me is light blue around a white box with black letters. LOL!! So to see the pics of where you live, especially another country, is very interesting, and informative. So, really, Thank you.
  21. How long have you had the cold air intake on it? And what kind of filter are you using? Did they happen to tell you what code is coming up? I'm wondering if it's your knock sensor. The knock sensor located on the cylinder block detects spark knock. When spark knock occurs, the sensor pick up vibrates in a specific frequency range .When the ECM detects the voltage in this frequency range, it retards the ignition timing to suppress the spark knock. The ECM also senses backgraound engine noise with the knock sensor and uses this noise to check for faults in the sensor. If the sensor signal level is too low for 10 seconds, and the knock sensor output voltage is out of normal range, the ECM interprets this as a fault and sets a DTC.
  22. "bump" is when the thread is aging because a lack of posts. The newest posts on a thread allways goes to the top of the front page. So it effectively bumps the thread back to the top without them having anything really useful to say. You generally see it on the for sale forum so they can keep thier item on the front page. to post pics in the reply box, click on the more options, then click on Browse... and it will ask you to select the pic from your computer, you will navigate the destination and click on it. Then hit the Upload button. There is a size limit on the files you can upload. I think around 480x640 is close to the limit. Then once it's uploaded, hit the Manage Current Attachments button, and it will list all the images you have uploaded, if you have uploaded more than 1. Then you can place the cursrer where you want in the Reply box, and click on the image in the MCA box, and the file address shows up. You can hit Preview Post to make sure it's the pic you want. Then when your happy, hit add post, and blamo, you dune-o :) Or you can just use photobucket sites also. Their free and pretty easy to use also. ;)
  23. When you say it sounds like some fluid being pumped thru a mechanical device, do you mean it sounds like when you use the windsheild washer motors? Like that sound? If it's like a bubbling gurgling noise, then what Bartkat talked about the air in the heater core or trapped is probably right on.
