  1. good idea smooth! now i have some stuff to do...
  2. it's the first thing I did when I got my car! It's a good way to replace the brake fluid as well. I painted mine bright green instead of typical colors and then put the black lexus stickers on them to match my black car. They still show up quite well - I reccommend a clearcoat
  3. i really like the looks of those headlights in the final picture! and my cigarette ligher doesn't look like that :(
  4. I installed an AVIC-D3 in my 01 and it works beautifully. I'm sure a few others on this forum will echo that... the ipod interface rules. you'll need a metra toyota interface harness (model piece TYTO01, check circuit city) for it to communicate, and since it looks like you have an 03 you won't have to do much else. There's a whole walkthrough for the install, I did it myself. It took a while but it works! If I had pictures on this computer and was less lazy i'd throw em up for you
  5. anything you want? sounds like money isn't much of an issue
  6. yeah i think there's a little controller made for the D3, i forget where i saw it though
  7. haha *BLEEP* smooth i love the new car, it's good the wife is happy :P you better keep us up to date on the beast.. i wanna watch it grow up
  8. only problem i've ever had is with the stock radio. other than that, nothing
  9. yeah pulling/putting in the stock amp is such a !Removed!
  10. Yeah, take Nike's advice on life and you'll be fine.
  11. hahah "mr private modder" speaking of lowering... hopefully i can afford some coilovers this summer :)
  12. welcome to the LOC! :) I'm new to all the car tuning stuff too, but I'll try and chime in. with the stock tranny you could easily get 350-400 I think. Smooth is the expert in this area - he's beentheredonethat. It really depends on the tuning. And as far as exhausts making your car sound whiney/ricey, I don't think you'll find that problem with the IS, the 6 cylinders sound a lot beefier than a civic's 4 - but it depends on your definition of "whiney" so I'd check out all the videos on youtube first. I have the JoeZ intake pipe and a Blitz drop in filter than I clean out every now and then to keep the air moving smoothly, and I'd say this is definitely the most bang for the buck upgrade. The SRT is pretty sweet, but I think it's overhyped. The JoeZ is simple and works with the stock air system already in place. And if you're planning on going turbo in the near future, don't bother with anything intake-wise, the turbo will replace it.
  13. haha bartkat :chairshot: seeing as how i have a BO i kinda wanna paint my emblems when I'm back home in the summer. Any advice for paint/how to do it? I've kinda got flat black in mind, that way when i get my tails smoked it'll have a little bit of a knight rider effect :P
  14. it shouldn't really matter as long as you don't turn the car on in the middle of installing it. The stock amp is a pain in the !Removed! to get in and out - but just look for the pin connector bunches that fit the slots on the amp/headunit and go from there. The head unit is easy-cheese
