Well, it looks like I just bought a Carbon Fiber hood for my ride. YES!!!!! And.............I killed an Evo 8 today..... ^_^ I promised myself no more races until I get the drivetrain squared away. I just couldn't help myself. I rolled the car out of the garage today and just washed it. After that I thought, well, I'll just take it for a quick spin and make sure everything is working the way it should be. ( I haven't driven it in a week!) So I jump in, warm it up and go for a cruise, I figure 15 mins or so. I turn down the main road in front of the subdivision I live in and the light turned red and the Evo pulls up. I said to myself,"No way, your gonna pop the tranny and then be screwed." So the light turns green and I accelerate off the line in a mature fashion. The Evo stayed next to me. I could hear the blow off valve Psst as he shifted. Then he started to pull ahead slowly. So I cracked the throttle a little more to stay neck and neck. Then I think he realized I was sort of playing with him and I heard the revs go up, him down shift and the turbo spool, I was acting on instinct at this point, I switched to manual, downshifted also, spooled up right with him and said " SEEE YA!!!" I pulled out probably 3 or 4 car lengths and was still stretching it out when we reached the next light. He moved over into my lane behind me as I was about to make a right hand turn. I made the turn and he followed me, swinging into the lane next to me and wanting to run it again. But just as I started to open the throttle, a cop pulled out from a gas station in front of us about 2 blocks up. So we stayed side by side down the strip. The cop made a right turn on to another street and just as we passed the road he turned on, SLAM, it was on again.......And This time I spooled up quicker instead of reacting to his move, I jumped the same time he did, and the Lexus just dusted him all the way down the road. I hit a red light and had to stop. By the time he got there it turned green again and I throttled up to pace him, just as he hit the gas though, I turned right to go home. ( I'm not supposed to be racing until the tranny and tc are in!!!) BUt none the less, another notch on the hit list. Man, Tranny and tc, hurry up and get here........

I don't know if they have the flash screen or not. But if you can have them give you what codes come up, I can interpret them for you and atleast point you in the right direction from there. that sounds like you might have some play in the brake rotor itself. Next time, try taking the wheel off, and then remove the brake caliper and pull the brake rotor off. Then clean it up and put it back on. See if the rotor bangs on the lugs when you rotate it forward and backwards. If so, that could be where the sound is coming from.

well, heres a way to find out. disconnect your aftermarket amp. and then turn on the stereo and listen. If it goes away, then its that amp. If you still have the noise, it's not. So next, pull your glove box out. There are two tabs you pull inward ----> <----- on each hinge of the glove box door. Behind that is the ac cabin filter, look to your right on the side and you'll see a metal box, that's the factory amp. Reach in and disconnect it and turn on the stereo with the aftermarket amp on. noise? or no? And I'm wondering if that wire off the metra has to be grounded??? Or manybe needs to be grounded to something else.

Got A Speeding Ticket, Even With Radar Detector On!
smooth1 replied to LexKid630's topic in General Chat
Yeah, once you get to a certian number, I beleive it's 25 mph over the speed limit, they call that a criminal offence, not a moving violation. In Florida they have a highway stipulation law. In other words, if your doing twice or more of the speed limit, the charges can stack up. Ask my brother. :) He was on a GSXR 1000, out on a country road. The speed limit was 55. The radar read 131 mph. He was charged with 1) Speeding with reckless abandon. 2) Misconduct with a motor vehicle 3) endangering the lives of pedestrians and others and I can't remember the 2 maybe 3 other charges. Anyway, they took him to jail, impounded the bike, and I got a call. He was facing realistically 6 months in jail, about 5 grand in fines, and loss of his liscence for 1 year. We got a lawyer. 2 months later he got 1 year probation, had to take an extended safe driving course, and a $500 fine, no liscence suspension, and because it was a criminal case, it doesn't show on his driving record at all. Of course this I beleive is an extreme case, and a lawyer is more than justified. But I did learn a few things about how the "system" works. One is they hate case loads. So when the attorney threatened to plead not guilty and go to a full jury trial, which spends alot of the states money, and time and other resources, the offers kept coming in and every other week the offer was a little better than the one before it as we got closer to the trial proceedings. As soon as our lawyer said that is the real bottom, and I think this is a good offer, we accepted and pled out. Just something to think about. And, you will have to check this part out on your own. But I am pretty sure here in Florida anyway, that if you go to court over a speeding ticket, you can only plead guilty or not guilty. You can't argue the amount of the speeding. In other words when you go before the judge and they ask you if you how do you plea, you can't say " Yes, I was, but not by how much the officer said I was." That would be an admission of guilt, and then sentencing or the fine would be imposed, and now you would have court costs on top of that. So if you decide to fight the ticket, you do in fact need to get a lawyer, so they can call and make arrange a plea deal in advance. So NC211 is very right about if you fight it, get a lawyer. My personal advice,,,,if you have an attorney, call him or her and get real advice. If you can plea it out to help your driving record and the long term effects, then atleast you can make a better informed decision. -

I meant your amps. I think the noise is coming in there. Either the stock amp or the aftermarket one your running. Did you install them or were they installed by someone else? You need a pretty hefty line off the battery for all that power. I can show your a pic of mine later.

Tampa life's pretty good, this is the time of year I love FL. The weather is beautiful. I don't care what most people say, I don't mind the massive influx of snowbirds :D Yeah man, I love Florida. I'm here to stay.

yeah, you gotta bad ground somewhere or you have an exposed connection. Could be off the head, or the amp. Did you run a power line from the battery or jump off another one?
-
try ebay. I've seen them there before.

Is it a solid vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv sound that goes up with the revs or is it a pulsing sound that pulses faster with the revs?
-
That depends, but I thought your were using the Supra GTE? Which is 9:1 now. Which would be fine for going to 400-450 rwhp. What turbos are you planning on running? And even if you stay with the sequential turbo setup, going to bigger turbos is going to effect the spool time. That's why alot of them just convert to single turbo set ups. If you went with a 60 trim, stage 2 turbo, and stayed at 9:1 compression, you could get over 425 rwhp with 12 psi, spool up at around 27-3000 rpm, and actually pull harder thru the rev range. ( In other words, you would have a higher usable average hp across the rev band.) Just some food for thought. Well, here in the US, we have a few transmission only shops like Level 10, and IPT. And there are also some race shops that will do transmissions also like Peter Farrell Racing. I costs alot of cash though. I just bought a Level 10 auto tranny and torque converter online as a super deal for 2200 US dollars. If you were to go to Level 10, it would cost 4400 for the race build, plus freight there and back, and another 900 for the custom torque converter. IPt will do it for $3675.00 and $495.00 torque converter, plus freight there and back. From what I understand, these are the only 2 places that I know of anyway, that know how to deal with 1st and 2nd gear on these tranny's, along with 3rd, 4th and 5th. I guess that Toyota did something different with the 1st and 2nd gear that they aren't really 2 seperate gears. So that's why the IS 300 slides from 1st to 2nd so quickly. You being in Denmark though, I think puts these shops out of your reach, unless money is no object. I'm sure there has to be a shop in Denmark that does similar work. Well, I'm not familiar with the MF2 NDT, but I can tell you that the AEM is the godsend answer for VVti, VTEC, it supports MAG and HALL type sensors, and the absolute best thing I found about the AEM is that you can adjust the injector pulse width, which means you can run larger fuel injectors and still maintain the correct air/fuel ratios. So you can tap into the factory injector signal and independantly control the injectors. Very nice if your looking to get some real hp out. THe AEM is the only one that I know of that lets you do that.
